Have I heard this right?
The new Superman film, will be him vs Batman.
Please confirm that this is a viscous rumour.

Well, may give it a go, if the reviews are ok. Was rather looking forward to seeing Lois lane and Superman continuing where they left off, and having Lex Luthor come into it, although he might?

DC are rushing to get something out to go up against Avengers: Age Of Ultron, Superman is established and the easiest one to re-establish in short time is Batman due to the recent Nolan films as everyone know the character.

Any ideas who should play Batman, seeing as Bale has ruled himself out?
I was thinking either Karl Urban, but he might be a bit tall, or (and don't laugh), Andrew Lincoln.
I have heard a rumour that Armie Hammer is being considered.

Dependings i like Lincoln so would take him, if it is meant to be the Batman from Nolan's universe then it should JGL! but it wont sure they will save him for the re-boot tbh.

I read a lot of comics and one of the best is The Dark Knight Returns which climaxes with a great fight between the two. I think you can get away with this stuff in comics, where it is just geeks arguing about it, but can't see it really being taken "seriously" as a premise in a film. Hopefully I'll be proven wrong as the geek in me wants to see this!

These supehero movies are getting to be a joke. "Only getting?", I hear some people say
There is absolutely no way you can have Batman and Superman in the one movie.... it's just too bizarre to contemplate.....UNLESS they get to fight Godzilla together, which would begin to make more transcendental sense!

The problem is... How dumb would Batman have to be not to walk into a fight with Superman hiding a bit of Kryptonite? That glaring weakness makes it hard for me to take an Sup movie/comic seriously. At least Admantium is incredibly rare in the X-Men universe, Kryptonite seems to be just around every corner in DC-Universe.

And I'll use the bit I found in my coal bunker if Superman comes anywhere close to Batman. Batman had a caped sidekick. It didn't work out. Too much talk. Gotham is no place for apprentices. Take your CV elsewhere Superman. Toss a burger, feed a gorilla, make yourself a sandwich, drink a glass of milk... Do some fukin' thing.

Re: Superman vs Batman
All this is a precursor to a Justice League movie apparently.
Absolutely no idea how they can make this work and I am not optimistic. Although the Comic-Con announcement quoted a bit of dialogue from the dust-up in The Dark Knight Returns as an introduction, they said they are definitely NOT adapting that. Good choice, given that this book is in its own continuity and that encounter has a very specific context.
There's another interesting clash between the characters in the Jeph Loeb/Jim Lee arc "Hush" incidentally (a bit of a side-show chapter, not really integral to the story).

Also, a terrible lover. Faster than a speeding bullet from what I've been told. Mind you, Batman is no better. With all his ninja training, he is in and out without anyone noticing.

Not a great match when you consider that Superman only has a small spaceship and batmans cave is quite big. Probably why superman always intercepts rockets and nuclear missiles - has to find some way of keep the batty boy interested.

The 2 comic book conflicts mentioned above take their cue from the characters being long-time friends (having worked together in the Justice League for years - this won't be the case for the film presumably) but also prepared to take each other down should they find themselves on opposing sides.
In the Dark Knight Returns (sort of set in the "future"), Superman works for the US government and is ordered to stop Batman - an old man whose reappearance after years of retirement causes trouble and unrest (thinking of old enemies also being inspired to return and escalation of gang violence). Quite serious / political etc.
In Hush, Superman falls under the control of one of Batman's enemies (yes, Poison Ivy's allure extends to Kryptonian males). Classically comic book silly, but entertaining.
These encounters both contrast the characters - Clark is a boy scout, through and through. He has the power of a god, but is reluctant to harm or let anyone be harmed. Bruce has a bit of a dark side (drawing the line at killing mind you), and uses his considerable resources and intelligence to inform his tactics.
Goodness knows what they're going to do for a movie.

It was a nice hot day in the DC Universe and Superman was flying over the city when he spots Wonder Woman laying naked on top of one of the buildings.
As fast as a speeding bullet, Superman swoops down, gets his end away and flys off.
Wonder Woman screams "what the hell was that?" and the Invisable Man said "I don't know, but it hurt like hell."

In the animated "film" isn't the president Ronald Reagan or at least a parody of him? I think Batman is voiced by Peter Weller. In the Dark Knight Returns (sort of set in the "future"), Superman works for the US government and is ordered to stop Batman - an old man whose reappearance after years of retirement causes trouble and unrest (thinking of old enemies also being inspired to return and escalation of gang violence). In the graphic novel, Dark Knight Returns, yes, it was very easy to imagine that the president was based on Ronald Regan.

Re: Superman vs Batman
Yes, the president in The Dark Knight Returns was undoubtedly based on Mr Reagan (who was the office holder at the time of publication) with a fair bit of parody thrown in. Same sort of direction (although not quite as far) as Spitting Image's bumbling war monger - but with a Superman under his control...
The idea of a nuclear trigger-happy leader of the free world also made its way into another of Frank Miller's graphic novels from memory - there's a [Richard Nixon type?] president in the very weird "Elektra: Assassin", who literally carries around a device with a big red button on it and repeatedly threatens to push it. Or at least that's what I vaguely remember.

Hoefully it will be the red son comic if superman and batman are in the same film.
In red Son superman is found in soviet russia and becomes a communist fighting against America. Batman is an ally of America.
great storyline just google red son and read it.

Agree it would make a great film, but difficult to link it back to the last Superman film. It is suppose to be a continuance. Plus I doubt that America is ready for a red Superman on film.

with batman retired they prob have an older actor play him . i can't see them fighting against each other because supermans way over the top too powerful which why i never taken to him as a kid . i was more marvel and into spiderman . my guess would be they some how team up with superman criticising him over is darker character tactics throughout the film but kiss and make up and loved up at the end of the movie . unless batman dies

Re: Superman vs Batman
In time-honoured tradition, the plot has got to be (a) superheroes meet, dislike each other and fight, (b) they then team up for the greater good against some Big Bad [in this case, representing the seeds of the Justice League presumably].
See any "superhero v superhero" comic book and/or The Avengers movie, which gave a number of nods to the tradition.
As pointed out though, it's a ridiculous mismatch, so there has to be a contrived reason why Batman v Superman isn't a one-sided fight which would be over quicker than a speeding bullet.

Affleck is all wrong.
To quote Mrs Bounce: "He’s smarmy and bland enough to play Superman but NOT batman! I think that pretty much sums up the values these films are going to have. Integrity not being one of them."

Affleck is a dreadful actor, one film aside. He's better behind the camera.
I liked Keaton as Bruce Wayne, not as Batman.
I liked Clooney as Bruce Wayne, not as Batman.
I liked Kilmer as Batman, not as Bruce Wayne.
I liked Bale as Bruce Wayne, not as Batman.
I like Effleck as neither.

That is a terrible choice, after Christian Bale who was probably the perfect Bruce Wayne and Batman, Ben Affleck is neither, he just looks the part. We've already seen him flop as a superhero once and start moving behind the camera because his acting is so ridiculed.
I was hoping they'd go for somebody a little bit older and more rough and go down that kind of storyline, Affleck is a choice that you'd have expected the Schumacher brothers to make.

There is only one Batman/ Wayne and that is Adam West.
They don't even dance anymore!

Well I feel a bit better about Capaldi as Doctor Who now that I've seen Batman ruined
Henry Cavill will be the star of this film now, I didn't think I'd say that about a film with Batman in.

Re: Superman vs Batman
Some people are suggesting this is very similar to when Heath Ledger was cast and how negative people were about that, the difference is that Affleck is an established actor who has been around for 20 years now and is consistently pretty poor. His acting is usually panned and its only since he became a director that he's got any credibility.

Heath Ledger was an outstanding young actor. The Patriot, A Knight's Tale, Brokeback Mountain, he put in some incredible performances before TDK.
Can't believe it's been 5 and a half years since he died!

Affleck's problem hasn't been so much a lack of acting ability as a habit of choosing sh1t films to act in. Batman isn't exactly the most demanding role either, just requires looking stern-faced at times and away with the fairies at others - Keanu Reeves could probably play him, maybe.
