Intersting that Glasgow have kapt back their big guns for this one, whereas Edinburgh bar Visser have brought all there's back.
Concerned for that Glasgow team if Quins put out a strong team.

4. George Merrick
5. George Robson
6. Tom Guest
7. Chris Robshaw (C)
8. Nick Easter
Replacements

Looks pretty strong in certain areas. I'm happy to see Mark Lambert in the side - he's a good buddy of mine, very nice, hardworking guy who had to overcome a potentially career-ending neck injury while at Quins academy. Also a good club man.

Re: New Edinburgh and Glasgow Teams Thread - 2013/2014
I see Edinburgh has signed Wickus Blaauw.
Edinburgh have bolstered their front-row resources ahead of the new season with the signing of former Stormers loose-head Wicus Blaauw.
The 27-year-old has also turned out for Biarritz and he arrives at Murrayfield to fill the void left by the now departed John Yapp who signed a year-long loan deal with London Irish on Wednesday. Blaauw is new coach Alan Solomons' first piece of recruitment and the former Southern Kings coach is delighted with the signing.
"I've seen a lot of Wicus," Solomons said. "He's played a lot of games at a high level, for both the Western Province and the Stormers, in South Africa's premier provincial and Super Rugby sides, as well in the French Top 14 and Heineken Cup. He's a very strong loosehead prop and is very good at his core roles, especially scrummaging. I believe he will be an asset to Edinburgh Rugby."
Blaauw added: "This is a great opportunity for me to immerse myself in the rugby culture in Edinburgh and become part of the rugby family at the club. It's a new challenge and I'm really looking forward to bringing something to the team, while I also think it's the right place to help me improve as a player. I love scrummaging, I love running with the ball, and I love tackling."

Ouch! Big test for a pretty green looking Glasgow team coming right up. Glasgow will do well to be competitive in this one.
That's a first choice Quins backline. Thank goodness for Glasgow that Bennett is starting.

Yikes, will be very impressed if that team can trouble a near full strength Quins team.
Great chance for some of the young lads to stake a claim early doors. Fingers crossed.

You have to have faith Tiger. Just think of Harrison Ford standing on the edge of the ravine at Petra in Last Crusade. ASBO would have jumped!
I safely predict that Bennett will make a fool of JT-H and Lowe, and make Mike Brown look like his shoe laces are tied together. As a player ready for international rugby two seasons ago, Bennett will have no problem making idiots out of these Quins......

Re: New Edinburgh and Glasgow Teams Thread - 2013/2014
It'll be a toughie tomorrow. But I like Toonie's non-muppet management style. Wight and McGuigan are at the bar in the last chance saloon and against a very strong looking Quins back line; perform or die time. Also four very good props and Bordill and Holmes straining to get on in the back row! Mouth watering. And we could end up with a back three of Seymour-Schlong-Murchie not too shabby. Lots of people with lots to prove. Could be very good just a pity I wont be there. NEVER EVER go on holiday and trust a second row to organise a jolly boys outing.

Schiz, amigo mio, aye it seems that I'm training at 12:30 with No1 son andsecond team captain, and beer fanatic, Joel who is starting his shift at the beer festival at 4:00pm. I just may have worked up a thirst by the time we walk Joel round to his second home.
I was a little bit concerned about lack of cover in the centres but the three tomorrow look as if they can carry the jersey instead of vice versa. Then we have Dunbar and Hornee Furra linee to return. I am beginning to have a good feeling about this season and if Fern Cotton is half as good as the hype surrounding him then the 6N might not be too painful. Apparently the game is on the warriors website later tomorrow so if I can focus I may watch it.
Kill myself in the gym for a long hour then go to a beer festival that's social rugby for you.

Not a great result from Edinburgh, they lost 24-6. Did anyone see it?
Bar Visser this was pretty much the full strength Edinburgh team, whereas Saints left out a good proportion of their stars. None-the-less not too bad a score line, at least they weren't nilled.

Re: New Edinburgh and Glasgow Teams Thread - 2013/2014
There's a match thread on the game, but they were 10-6 down with ten minutes to go - emptied the bench and saints got 2 late tries. Not nearly as bad as the score suggests.
Sounds like a big shift and perfect pre season hit out

Ooocha, this is gonna be a baptism of fire for many of these young warriors. Looking forward to seeing what young Mr. Gray can do in his first start for the club. As others have mentioned, even though this is only a friendly, Wight needs a big game, hopeful we will also see Finn Russell to get a good comparison with Wight - I have a feeling Russell might sneak ahead in the pecking order this season.

What's up with Cusack? Is he still injured? i remember he was 50-50 to play in march-april.
Have to say that Glasgow's "news" about injured players is one of the worst i have seen

Feeling rather cheesed off; out of bed early to take 10 year old son to Wendyball training and then had him in pieces because they will "offer some boys coaching and some places on the team" guess which group he is in? Is this not a rather pretentious and self-important way to introduce sport to kids? I think it's time to start taking him to my rugby club.
Feeling very nervous about today; the Warriors finished last season playing excellent rugby if they push on then it should be a glorious season. But weren't the MFL saying pretty much the same thing this time last year? "At least we weren't nilled"
Dearie, dearie me, is that what it's come to?

Re: New Edinburgh and Glasgow Teams Thread - 2013/2014
Madmaccas, he could qualify on residency but went back to NZ just before he did. This suggests either he did not want to have to choose or he's just not very clever. Then again if he doesn't want to play for Scotland he can't be very clever.

Fozzy, WeePee and Seymour off: Bordill, Bryce and Hughes on. A big call from the 4% Muppetman.

Hey Jimbo! Yeah, I'm loving this! After we quickly went two tries down (and almost a third) I was reaching for the super glue and a head-sized plastic bag. Since then, Glasgow have shown this crazy ability to drag themselves back into games from nowhere. Even if we lose this match, we've achieved something major today.
Ally, seven minutes left, and Quins lead by three.

Ian, my mole at the ground says Fozzy had "good runs, very ferocious" sounds like dysentery to me.

I suppose you mean we went to a side who think they're something and showed real character and the ability to compete right to the end? But isn't that how we finished the season at Leinster? Mind you when you look at the youngsters we played I suppose that is something.

Lost by 3, but impressed with Glasgow. Nick Evans v Scott Wright says it all.
