Monty follows a long tradition
: Monty Pannesar' s public urination on the Brighton seafront was merely the latest in a long line of such incidents concerning England slow left arm bowlers, originated by Yorkshire great Bobby Peel who appearing one day somewhat worse for wear actually peed on the pitch ,so it is claimed.Lord Hawke gently escorted him away ,never to play again.
Denis Compton another left armer has reason to recall his maiden first class innings, batting at number eleven and going well he was inexplicably given out LBW by Bill Bestwick who later claimed had he not got off the ground right away would also have watered the wicket.
David Steele another of the SLA variety didn't actually need to go when on his first Test appearance at Lord's found himself in The Gent'sl loo when he got lost on his way to the wicket and was almost timed out.
Others adept at 'ExtractingThe urine, include Johhny Wardle,Phillipe Edmonds and recently Phillip Tufnell, great characters all .Charlie Parker ,perhaps the greatest of them all sent his own Test career down the toilet when he smacked an English selector in a lift for constantly overlooking his claims for Test selection.
Whilst many can plead guilty to slashing outside the off stump.it's just those slow lefties who've got it down to a fine art.
