England VS Scotland Discussion
Quite looking forward to this game, anyone know what sort of attendance is expected? I reckon could be closer than people think. A few of my English mates reckon 4-0 or 5-0 wins but just don't think that'll happen tbh, hopefully I'm not wrong! Wish game culd have been at Hampden so there would have been cracking atmosphere but I'm hoping Wembley surprises me although I'm not expecting it. I hope to see Bridcutt play, not seen too much of him but impressed by limited amount I've seen. And I hope Rooney plays too.

This really is a pointless friendly, and the biggest problem for England will be motivation. Still, the class should shine through in the end.
2 nil England I'll say.

Re: England VS Scotland Discussion
Yeah the main issue is that Scotland will probably be a lot more motivated for the game than England, I can't see a class performance as I expect it to be disjointed with lots of changes. Hoping to see Hodgson use the whole squad, always think it's pointless calling people up and then not using them when you can use everybody.
I'm just hoping no Liverpool players like Johnson or Gerrard are injured.

I still reckon England will win. If it were at Hampden I'd favour Scotland tbh but it's going to be a flat atmosphere bar the tartan army and I can't help but think it'll be be tough for either team to be motivated. That being said, injuries could ruin it, especially since Scotland will rough up England as they can't match them quality wise

Bridcutt is injured I think Niner
Anyways can't say I'm fussed about the result, will be praying the Norwich players involved come back injury free, if that happens, I will be happy

Yeah Bridcutt is injured, shame was looking forward to him tearing England's midfield a new one.

Of course for England, this is just the first game of a season that could see them reach the promised land next July. #believe

well that's crap. I love Snodgrass though and hope he continues to do well, that crop of talent from Livi around that time have done themselves proud. Always gets himself at back stick for chances too, something most wide men lackOlly wrote:Bridcutt is injured I think Niner

Re: England VS Scotland Discussion
Get used to being unimpressed by Zaha and that's not being negative. He's a winger, they are infuriating, inconsistent but on their day they can be devastating match-winners. Just give him time to adapt and get used to this level and he will showcase his great ability. How many years of Walcott failing to deliver have we had to endure? Lennon, Downing & Johnson all infuriating wingers to watch........that's just the way it is, especially in this country where speed and no actual end product seems to get unfortunately produced time and time again.
As for game, not really looking forward to it. Roy can big the game up however he want but in reality it will have no impact on how we perform in the qualifiers. Gives the young players some experience but I fear alot of the players will be eyeing the weekend coming up as the real importance in their lives.

Most England fans I know aren't too bothered by it tbh whereas I think a lot of Scots are up for it. But I expected that anyway, you guys can bring the nice football and us the passion and noise. Unfortunately latter is what brings a win!

Yesterday and last week against Preston was the first times I've watched Zaha or Tom Ince for a full live 90 minutes. I do not have a bloody clue how they are so hyped up. God, they are both terrible.Colan (niner) wrote:I sort of hope that Zaha plays now, not impressed by him at all yesterday
Re: England VS Scotland Discussion
Zaha is extremely raw, he verges between being unplayable (Brighton 2nd leg) and useless (in Dan hardings pocket).
Tom Ince isn't particularly special.

Re: England VS Scotland Discussion
I'm surprised you've never seen them play a full game. What do you expect from them, world class performances every game? They were the two most impressive midfielder players in the Championship and rightfully deserved the recognition they got. They are still young, learning and will blow hot and cold like every winger England produces. Walcott is the most infuriating winger there is and look how much experience he has compared to these two. Just give them time and don't judge them after one game. Sir Bobby Charlton labelled Zaha the 'star performer' in the pre-season tour of Asia, not bad and shows what potential he has.
As for Ince, I am surprised he rejected Cardiff. Okay, there not a big team and likely to get relegated but that was his chance to play EPL football. Now, he's sitting at Blackpool basically waiting for a bid that might not come now. Liverpool won't re-buy him and I think that's what he is waiting for but he should move on. Could stagnate at Blackpool this season. I also don't think the Dad/Son combination is good for him.

Re: England VS Scotland Discussion
I don't think it's an English thing what you're talking about John, I think it's just wingers in general. Naturally the fastest players tend to get shunted out onto the wing and don't develop their technique properly. Very few wingers in football are not described as inconsistent. Even Ribery and Robben, arguably two of the best wingers in football are often seen as inconsistent.

Agree on Ince John, can't believe he rejected the move to the Prem. Shows me he's either not strong willed enough to leave his Dad, or doesn't have the faith in his ability to cut it, when the times get tough (which they will at points with Cardiff). Seems quite happy to sit in his comfort zone at Blackpool

Re: England VS Scotland Discussion
I can understand why he might have rejected the Cardiff deal if he felt he was going to get more bids, but it appears to have backfired. He's got too big of a price tag otherwise I think a load of Premier League teams would have snapped him up.

Re: England VS Scotland Discussion
I didn't have Sky Sports last season so the watching a full Championship game wasn't an easy thing to manage. Also, my Nan could have been United's star performer in their pre-season tour. The reason I don't think much of Ince is that he spent 90 minutes against defenders in the league below running down dead ends. I think he made under 10 passes from choice and a few from hoping it gets somewhere after poking it between two defenders. Zaha could be the next big thing, from what I've seen he's definitely the superior player of the two and I'm afraid Ince will forever be a good to great Championship player.John wrote:I'm surprised you've never seen them play a full game. As a Rangers fan, that kind of singing depresses me! Truth be told I'm jealous of England fans, at least they can watch their teams perform well. Whereas I've never been old enough to really even see us in major tournament. No disrespect to any other fans but there is no doubt Scottish fans trump any other and its sad that there hasn't been opportunity to showcase that at highest level for long timeDuty281 wrote:Pah, the England band will drown your sorry lot out. Barely care about Engand games in competitive fixtures, let alone dross friendlies.
Could not give a monkeys, but would take a punt on 2-1 to England.

Ah, Hodgson can multi-task, as he's managing the U21s tonight. First game back for the U21s after their embarrassing showing at the European Championships.

No Bertrand or McEachran.
Only strong Liverpool presence because Hodgson is in charge.

Never seen McEachran do anything to justify why everyone hypes him up so much tbh

Yeah, I assume there will be a turnover in the U21 squad as they get out the people too old from the last tournament.

Im interested to watch Stones, Hughes and Chalobah (future internationals without doubt) and then Keane and Wisdom. I like Wisdom but I dont think its certain whether he'll flourish or not.
A shame Morrison hasnt been picked, but nice to see Hodgson has taken note of him with a recent quote in the press.

I know I may be biased and all, what with Wickham being an ex-scummer, but I have never ever seen him produce anything that even begins to justify the outlay Sunderland made on him.Duty281 wrote:Oh gawd, not Wickham. we are pish haha, though 2 goals were offside! The bias commentary towards anything English on BT Sport is embarassing since I subscribed though. When Celtic beat Liverpool 1-0, you'd have been forgiven for thinking Liverpool were 5-0 up. Michael Owen is awful commentator too
