Most letdown you've felt by a movie !!
Ever been really looking forward to something and you've felt you b*****ds that was garbage.....
ALIEN 3...........The first is one of my favorite films.......beautifully atmospheric, probably the best movie monster in cinema history.......beautifully acted..........The second was a riot from start to finish and then...............
This complete spew of crud..............Uninteresting characters (Save charles dance who laughably gets wasted early!!!!! and Charles dutton...).........So dark you can't see anything and just plain bull.............
Very disappointing.........

Re: Most letdown you've felt by a movie !!
Super, I was promised a funnier Kick Ass, what I got was a boring film, with some fairly disturbing scenes which I assume were supposed to be funny but felt more like the creators were trying to say: "Weird is funny, right?" Didn't think it was clever or entertaining, left me totally dissatisfied.
I've seen a few on here say that they loved it, but I really think it's an unfunny comedy that hides behind the excuse of it being dark humour or if you don't get it, it's because you're not clever enough to. Just an awful film.

Seriously though, I loved it. I watched one afternoon having heard nothing about it and absolutely loved it.

Anger Management - I knew the film would be dreadful but the bit where Heather Graham is standing in her Red Sox underwear about to remove her bra and Sandler's character tells her to stop is the most disappointed I've ever been during a film. My disappointment was tempered somewhat by my mate shouting out "Sandler you stupid f'ing b'stard" across the cinema.

I agree on Kick Ass, all I ever saw was 'its the best thing ever' level compliments about it.

Tbh I felt let down by Kick Ass, don't think I could be let down by Super as I just watched it at random one night, in terms of what I look for in either super hero films or comedies it ticked neither box.

Re: Most letdown you've felt by a movie !!
Clerks let me down, I had friends raving about it but the acting was poor, the jokes were either unfunny or standard and the writing didn't feel natural at all.
I love both Kick Ass films and I got Super because of liking the first Kickass and wasn't too sure what to make of it, not an awful film just not what I suspected. Talking of let downs and Kick Ass 2, Jim Carrey let me down a lot when he refused to promote the film due to the shootings at Sandy Hook saying that he couldn't justify promoting that level of violence...giving the media another reason to link films with real life violence and in my opinion taking away focus from the real problem, gun control.
Lord of the Rings also left me let down, too long and I got bored.

I found Kick Ass a massive let down. So a kid said Kumquat, big deal, they were rightly criticised because they put it in for reaction and nothing else.
Cant understand being let down by Lord of the Rings. If you liked the books, long film was the only way to begin justifying it considering the detail and length of those books!
The Harry Potter films all are letdowns at various times. Wonderful and rubbish at the same time.

I just thought it was funny and a bit of OTT violence never hurt anybody haha, I don't think her saying c*nt is it's main selling point though and they put it in because it's in the original comic so there was a reason.
I have to admit though, I haven't read the L.O.T.R books and I'm not that in to fantasy so L.O.T.R's had an up hill battle when trying to win me over.

Captain America, the version that came out in 1990. This actually got to the cinema, but is so bad even channel 5 will not show it. This was well before the glut of superhero films and i thought it would be fun. Do not waste time looking up this piece of cr£p

Of good films, it has to be crouching tiger hidden dragon. Heard how it re-defined the genre. I just found it boring.

Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. Friend went crazy over it, so I bought it and saw it got all these 5 star ratings, so watched it. Didn't have a clue really what was going on or who the characters were. Thought it was unforgivably dreadful and slow. Maybe it was me, I don't know. Anyone else seen it?

Also felt a bit let down, it wasn't tragically bad but it did plod and didn't justify all the hype.
Other recent(ish) let downs were The Hangover and Bridesmaids, again not tragically bad but the laughs were few and far between and can't understand how everyone I know raved about them as though they were some great advance in comedy.
While I'm at it: Argo, Casino Royale, Skyfall, Salmon Fishing In The Yemen.

Liked the first Hangover but it's not the classic that everyone says it is...the second wasn't even too bad just too much like the first for me, watching the third with low expectations and thought it was alright but nothing special.

I stand by my comment on Batman, Bale is criminally overrated with a horrendous voice, the first film was dull, the second given such a tugfest over due to Slater's unfortunate death and the third nowhere as good as Bane in the comic books.
The villains in the Keaton Batman's were far superior as was Batman.

Dont like the old Batmans, the new ones redefined the genre for me. Thought Bale was very good, added to the character with the vocal intensity, whilst the first is actually a good film. It just doesnt match how good the next too were. Heath Slater's performance was sensational, dead or not (I certainly wont watch Glee now and care cos that guy died), and whilst Bane actually made me laugh a bit, the film is still great, a worthy use of the overused word 'epic'.Hero wrote:I stand by my comment on Batman, Bale is criminally overrated with a horrendous voice, the first film was dull, the second given such a tugfest over due to Slater's unfortunate death and the third nowhere as good as Bane in the comic books.

But I dont read the comics, I prefer scratch and sniff books to pictures. Pop ups at least have interactivity.

I think that Jack Nicholson's portrayal of the Joker is the most overrated piece of work in the genre so far. Even when it came out I thought it was playing for laughs as opposed to sinister. Probably set the tone for many of Depp's performances now I come to think about!!Dolphin Ziggler wrote:Dont like the old Batmans, the new ones redefined the genre for me. I'm going to echo Drive, which everybody raved about, but I thought was fairly poor.
Also Dredd 3D (which I watched in 2D on my laptop anyway); although it got rather mixed reviews, some had piqued my interest. In the end I thought it was actually quite bad.
Matrix revolutions.
Whatever the Jaws sequels are called. the 4th one I don't think the shark even kills anybody. I remember being very disappointed about this as a kid.

Jackie Brown, I was told this was the best Tarantino movie by quite a few people, although I knew most people were generally mixed on it. I was so disappointed with it, as I left it to last thinking it would be the peak, very little positives to find in the film. Think DeNiro and his parts were excellent but too few to save the film.

"Dolan's Cadillac" a novel/novella by Stephen King. Saw it had been made into a movie and was massively disappointed.
DREDD - Wasn't let down as I wasn't expecting anything incredible anyway but wanted to say that I just don't get the Karl Urban thing. He may be a top bloke but he lacks any charisma whatsoever. Yes, DREDD is meant to be a no nonsense kinda guy but even then, Urban manages to make him dull. Stylistically, the film can't really be faulted but there's nothing to go with it.
