Welcome to Season 6 of the Aviva Premiership fantasy rugby game. Below are the rules of the game which must be adhered to. If there are any situations that arise in the course of the game which are not covered by the rules, a final decision will be made by the RFU (SJE) as to how the situation will be resolved.
Senior Squads wrote:
The maximum squad size is 40 senior players. If a team has more than 40 players in their squad then they will be fined £1 million per player over the permitted amounts per day for the first seven days. If after 7 consecutive days a team still has more than the permitted number of players then the team will be fined £2 million per player per day, and fined 1 league point per player per day for the next seven days. If after this time a team still has more than the permitted number of players in their squad, the RFU (me) will remove players at its discretion to bring them back under the permitted numbers. There will be no right of appeal to players being removed.
Be aware that all tier one international matches which are played during the season will count in the game, and players selected in the match day 23's for those matches will not be eligible to play for their clubs on that weekend, therefore you must give due consideration to the make-up of your squad.
Academy Rules wrote:
Each team will be allowed to have an academy squad of 20 players. Players who are in the academy must be born on or after 1st September 1991.
Any player, who is at any Premiership club in real life, either in their senior, academy or AASE squads, can be bid for on the domestic bidding page. Players who are at your own club in real life and are coming through the academy system must be bid for if you want them in your own academy.
Transfers wrote:
- Domestic (other AP Teams)
Each team has a budget to use in the purchase of players. Domestic transfers between AP clubs, regardless of nationality of player, should be negotiated between the respective managers, and then confirmed on the Domestic Transfer Confirmation Page.- Domestic (Championship and below)
Each team may during the season purchase no more than 5 players from the Championship or the National Leagues. These players must be bid for on the Domestic Transfer Bidding page, and each bid will be considered by me on its own merits before being accepted or rejected. No bid will be accepted until a minimum of 24 hours has elapsed from the time the bid was made, in order to afford other managers the opportunity to make a counter bid.- Foreign
To make a foreign transfer (i.e. from any club outside of the AP, regardless of whether the player is English) a bid should be made on the Foreign Transfers Page, which will be considered by me against the posted guidelines for purchase prices before being accepted or rejected. No bid will be accepted until a minimum of 24 hours has elapsed from the time the bid was made, in order to afford other managers the opportunity to make a counter bid.
There will be a summer foreign transfer window, which will run as follows.
Structured Window
No cash will be used and each team will get effectively free transfers by way of a draft, which will run 12th, 11th, 10th …… 1st, 12th, 11th,10th… 1st place side. This will run from 10th June 2013 until all teams have had their two picks.
Open Window
Open transfer window, teams have unlimited bids provided they have the financial resources to cover them. Teams may only bid for one player at a time.
Player Releases wrote:
Managers may choose to release players from their clubs, for which they will be offered compensation
Compensation will be paid as follows
£2 million – current international (must have played international rugby in the previous 12 months)
£1.5 million – former international
£1m – top flight experience
£0.5m – other
All released players will be deemed to have joined a Championship side and can be bid for on the Domestic Transfer Bidding page.
Retirements wrote:
There will be no compensation for retiring players. Should a player who retires decide to come out of retirement and play again, then he will automatically go back to the club who he was playing for in the game when he retired.
Fixtures wrote:
There will be 22 Aviva Premiership games per season, plus the play offs. There will also be Heineken Cup, Amlin Challenge Cup and Anglo Welsh Cup matches. These games will take place once a week. A match thread will be put up every Monday. Home teams must be named by midnight on Tuesday. Away teams must be named by midnight on Wednesday. Both teams must provide tactics by midnight on Thursday. Predictions will be open from 00:01 hours on Friday and remain open until 20:00 hours on Saturday. Managers will post the scores that they think will happen from these games (apart from games in which they are involved). An average of all predictions will be taken, and then 0.5 points added to each teams score for each prediction that had them as the winner, and that will then be the final score.
Managers are asked to provide detail as to why they have predicted a result. To be considered a descriptive prediction this must be a full 3 lines long when entered into the text box. If you are not providing a descriptive prediction you will be restricted to predicting a 1 point win either way.
Teams wrote:
When naming your team, not only should you put the starting XV and replacements, but also tactics that your team will employ. Results will be affected by the tactics described.
In addition, each team must have the following:-
At least 10 England qualified players in your match day 23, and at least 4 of those must be in your starting XV.
At least 2 props and 1 hooker on the bench.
All players must be eligible (not injured or banned).
Failure to comply with these rules will result in forfeiting the match and a 1 league point deduction.
If you fail to submit a team for a match, then the other team will be automatically awarded a 30-0 bonus point win. If both teams fail to submit a team, then it will be scored as a 0-0 draw.
Injuries and Suspensions wrote:
Injuries in this game do NOT reflect real life, they will be generated by me.
Players banned in real life will be ineligible for selection in this game for the duration of the ban.
Inclusion of injured/banned players will result in them being replaced by players on the bench, and the bench not having eight players, which may result in punishment if it concerns the front-row.
Punishment for fielding an ineligible player will be loss of one match point for a first offence, two for a second offence and so on.
Financial Rewards wrote:
There will be no rewards for the result of an individual match, instead the managers will receive cash for predicting.
£2m for descriptive predictions
£0.25m for scores on the doors predictions
If you fail to predict without first advising me that you are unable to do so that week, you will be fined £1m for a first offence, £2m for a second offence, £3m for a third offence etc.

That said the AB scrum been that bad that kayser and Mas could ruin it up front.
Ab's better in every shirt from 4-15 with exception of dus and fofana

Maestri and Pape are a very powerful combo. Don't think france will struggle in the set piece.
Parra plays well for France, can possibly see a decent combo with him and Tales. But they need to stop chopping and changing there.

Pelisse would be first choice by a distance and looks proper but agree parra never let France down.
Parra and yachvili dominate the game but slow it down and make France play the way they should not.
They play at a crawl and have great goal kicking. Playing slow allows defences to organise and is the reason France look blunt.
A pack of Domingo an other Mas Pape Maestri Dusatoir Picamoles an other is powerful and will win ball. That front 5 scrummaging wise will kill SH teams.
France need to play open from their great platform.
Pelisse and Lopez at halfbacks fofana fickou huget an other Dulin is a serious outfit.
France has talent and depth.
Parra as 2/3rd choice is an example.
Great impact bench options also.
Frightening if they click

Capable yes but not great operators.
Pape is a great front jumper.
For me being caller does not
Mean that much.
Look at Bonnaire Croft Hari white lock etc not callers but great operators/
Interestingly starting to see jumpers who can jump
All 3 positions. Etzbeth white lock Bekker croft etc can all
Jump front middle and back. Can see jumpers
Having to be able to do all positions.

Don't think I have ever seen Ezte or Whitelock at the back of the lineout. They would only tail gun if short on jumpers I'd imagine.

Re: Season 6 Homepage I
Both are used front and middle regularly. Etzbeth took
Most lineouts in RC and called them. Reckon he will end up a 5 with du toit 4. Both can play 4 or 5.
No reason they can't be tail gunners but you want your quicker guys Ie backrow towards the back for second wave after first clear out if running a hard channel off the back.
Front pod hit ruck and allow your back row and more dynamic players to hit off it.
Rugby changing someways for better some way for worse.
Locks will become like etzbeth white lock lawes du toit
In that 4 and 5 will be interchangeable.
They are athletes now.
Watch etzbeth against NZ when he has that 40 m run up
Wing.
New wave locks have it all. Toughness and athleticism. we are now seeing the players who have been pro since they started.
Not sure how it will work out. Rugby is becoming manufactured with teams playing patterns and sets rather than what's in front of
Them.
Defensive organisation also meaning tough to score
With athletes defending all 15 positions.
However good to
Watch NZ who master basics and show that avoiding contact and beating players with the ball and skills yields
Results.

Re: Season 6 Homepage I
Fantastic French lock combo, think they're both top draw.
I don't think NZ has went that badly, they've not dismantled teams but have held they're own.

Is SCW losing touch a bit? Wants Cips at FH, Watson at FB, then this peach:
"England’s back three looks conservative and lacks bite. Ben Foden (below) is a great player but I would like to see him play scrum-half as we need real pace in that position"

Awful 2nd half performance from England, pack went ok throughout but backs were poor bar Brown.
Dickson's pass was really bad, he was really poor throughout. Farrell had a few good patches but again poor in attack. 36 looked good ball in hand but passing all over. Ashton had a poor game again.
We're going to get minced by AB's if we play like that again.
Positives are Hartley went well, no idea what's going on with Youngs throw. All 4 props went well, as did locks. Backrow went ok.
I don't understand how we can't do simple backs moves.

Re: Season 6 Homepage I
England definitely need to step up next week, first 40 minutes it looked like we were about to click and build up a big score, but then just went off completely in the second half, but the Argentinian backrow was v good in the final 40 minutes.
Just very frustrating when we have such a good pack in the set piece, mauls and around the park that we can't get any decent attacks from our backline. I can't remember one line break that we made. We are so reliant on Tuilagi when he plays and a shame we didn't try Trinder in the Aus or Argentina game, as been unimpressed with Tomkins.
Wonder if Lancaster will make any changes to the backs - can see Foden staying on one wing now, but don't think he will risk throwing in Wade or Yarde against the ABs.

Our halfbacks were terrible yesterday, Farrell is back to his sit in the pocket best.

Looks like a decent kicking display from Clegg, hopefully some of fringe players have picked up some form

Having a read through sounds like Sa was our best player which is good to know but forwards not good enough

Chris York went well for us apparently , Deano showed how high he holds Chris still by putting him in at 8 vs Tigers the other week.

"Wonder if Lancaster will make any changes to the backs - can see Foden staying on one wing now, but don't think he will risk throwing in Wade or Yarde against the ABs."
Hopefully Foden will go back to the bench, he was pretty poor and not a winger. Fingers crossed Yarde will be fit.

Agree. Not ideal to have a fb at wing.

Re: Season 6 Homepage I
Flip VdM put in a good shift yesterday, has some decent stats.
He's running the SA line out really well, couple of years ago I wouldn't have thought he'd have that in his locker but shows what working with Matfield can do for you.
Vermeulen had a cracker too, always thought he had promise.
Malherbe wasn't too great though, struggled in the scrum, should have got pinged a few more times. Still early days for him though.

Flip still gave away 4-5 penalties which is why most saffer fans don't want him in the team. He can easily lose a game.
He is abrasive though and adds to the considerable presence of etzbeth, louw, vermaulen and Alberts.
Alberts and Vermaulen were brutal yesterday and drove the welsh way back over the gain line.

Apparently Pape has had 4 yellows and a red this year. Surprised by that

Re: Season 6 Homepage I
Definitely not ideal to have Foden on the wing, but at same time he didn't do anything wrong and looked good defensively. Just can't see Lancaster throwing in either Wade or Yarde in against NZ, Wade is too small and would rather get him in during the 6Nations to test him and Yarde's positioning could be found out with NZ's kicking game.
Having said that Ashton will be a lucky boy to keep his place - just need something more from the midfield, as just not bringing our backthree into play at all.

Surely yardes positioning as a natural winger is better than fodens who never plays wing for his club

I didn't think Foden was good defensively either, I thought he was poor throughout. He's not a winger, adds very little there.

Am looking for a top class full back and decent number 8 if anyone is around for a deal.

Re: Season 6 Homepage I
Yarde's a very raw player in my mind, incredibly talented and one of the best runners in the AP - but if you watch him in a game he doesn't position himself very well in defence and harder to pick up on tv but when you see him live you could see him getting really caught out by Carter.
Foden very good defensively, from Saturday's showing not really sure how you can say otherwise. Issue for me with him is more the attacking side from him out there as doesn't offer anything close to what Yarde, Wade, May can do.
Didn't think we had a back who would have scored above a 6 on Saturday in ratings when you consider how dominant our forwards were in first 40 minutes.

Re: Season 6 Homepage I
I'd agree on the 6 rating, only Brown put in a good shift for the whole of the match.
Both wings were poor and the halfbacks dreadful. I dispair with Farrell, he shows up once every 5 games. Our attacking game with him at 10 is a shambles, he stands so deep.

Re: Season 6 Homepage I
First half Farrell was alright, but completely disappeared second half, when actually we needed for him to just put us in the right areas and allow us to get a foothold in the game.
If we don't play for the full 80 agains the AB's we are going to get seriously humped!
