Good stuff Julius that was nagging me for years, only watched a wee excerpt on Youtube ( there is a lot of of it on ) but it must be 'The Haunting of Cassie Palmer'. The tudor guy now sounds a bit Mighty BooshishJuliusHMarx wrote:No idea - might be listed here - http://webspace.webring.com/people/th/hauntedtv/80to89.htmpscott wrote:Hi folks I'm looking to try to remember a show that was on when I was a kid, think it was on itv / stv, and it would be about 30 years ago.
It wasn't rentaghost.
It was a series, the lead was a lassie and there was a ghost who dressed almost in a witchfinder / tudor type hat. He had a deep voice and scared the bejeesus out of me.

Anybody remember watching Why Don't You in the school holidays? That and the old Pink Panther cartoons where the opening theme was that really catchy song and it showed the PP getting in and out of a real car (as in not cartoon car)

Re: Favourite TV shows when you were a kid?
Can anyone remember that programme on channel 4 where celebrities were asked questions about themselves by a computer/voiceover?
I think it was on around 6pm and it involved people like Matt Goss (I remember him doing it) sitting in a chair and pressing a categories on a screen to get questions that a voice would then ask.
What was it called? Someone help me please!

As a kid I was very much partial to the green, even more so than when he became the white, always did like the blue as well, good comedy value.

With clever inventions,
You know his intentions,
to help whenever he can.
If you want something started,
like enemies thwarted,
then Albert is your man.
His name is Albert! Albert!
He’s Albert the fifth musketeer!
He’s there at the double,
whenever there’s trouble,
with wood, and string, and stuff.
The things that he makes,
have just what it takes,
whenever the going gets rough.
His name is Albert! Albert!
He’s Albert the Fifth Musketeer!
He’s sharp, he’s cool, he’s nobody’s fool!
He’s Albert the Fifth Musketeer!
If you’ve been dropped in it,
he’s there in a minute,
that’s faithful Albert’s way!
He’s got no pretention,
just lots of inventions that always save the day!
Hurray! For Albert! Albert!

Re: Favourite TV shows when you were a kid?
Ahhhhh, early 1960's TV. Grainy old black and white...... ghosting on the picture because we lived in a lousy reception area..... having to wait for five minutes for the valves in the telly to warm up before we even got a picture at all. Only two channels to choose from. Those were the days.
Unmissable programmes such as:
The Lone Ranger
The Adventures of Robinson Crusoe
William Tell
The Telegoons (a TV adaptation of the radio Goon Show)
Doctor Who (I remember watching the very first episode)
Blue Peter (with Valerie Singleton.... my first crush)
and then towards the mid / later 6o's
Lost in Space
The Monkees
The Banana Splits.
Wacky Races
In 1969 a rather strange programme started called "Monty Python's Flying Circus". It confused, but strangely fascinated us. "What was that all about..?" We asked. After the first episode, at school, those who had seen it agreed that we couldn't make head or tail of it, but for some reason it was, well, funny..... sort of.... Nobody knew why at the time, but we all said we'd watch it again.
Other programmes from the 60's which weren't necessarily kids shows, but we watched anyway, were:
That Was The Week That Was
The Saint
Mission: Impossible
Ready, Steady, Go (the forerunner of Top of the Pops)
I'm sure I could remember more if I put my mind to it, but those are the ones that most instantly leap to mind.

Lion - grainy black and white programmes - reminds me of Champion the Wonder Horse. Remember that? The horse would run down the mountain during the credits and it had a distinct theme tune which sounded like it was sung by Matt Munro or someone like that...

Like a streak of lightnin' flashin' cross the sky,
Like the swiftest arrow whizzin' from a bow,
Like a mighty cannonball he seems to fly.
You'll hear about him ever'where you go.
The time'll come when everyone will know
The name of Champion the Wonder Horse!

I remember when I was young there was this German channel on sky that had a sort of rainbow segmented globe in the top corner. That had some decent shows on it if I remember rightly.
