The Leinster squad trained in UCD on Monday afternoon ahead of Saturday's opening home game of the RaboDirect PRO12 campaign against the Ospreys in the RDS (KO: 6.15pm) as the province look to build on Friday's bonus point win in Wales...Aside from the usual bumps and bruises there are no major concerns from the medical team arising from Friday's game.
Luke Fitzgerald felt tightness in his groin during the second half of the win over the Scarlets and was withdrawn as a precaution. Tight-head prop Martin Moore, the opening try scorer in the win, received treatment for a cut on his nose which required stitches. It is hoped that both players will be available ahead of Friday's midday team announcement. :happy clapper:
Fergus McFadden was a late withdrawal at the weekend with a tight hamstring, but it is expected that the Ireland back will be in the frame this week and he could be joined by Ian Madigan. Sean O'Brien continues to make positive strides on his arm injury and is expected to return over the coming weeks.
Michael Bent (neck), however, is still unavailable while Quinn Roux rolled his ankle in training and is a doubt for Saturday's game.
There were debuts for three players in Wales; St. Mary's College winger Darragh Fanning, out-half Jimmy Gopperth who scored 22 points and Ireland second row Mike McCarthy.

As annoying as draws are, sometimes you just need them.

Re: Leinster V Ospreys
They'll take the draw I guess. Jack McGrath was very good. Might he get an Ireland call-up?
On another possitive note, these two could play each other another 4 times this season, 3 minimum.

Re: Leinster V Ospreys
Happy with that result tbh, considering we threw the game away in the 1st half. O's kept us honest. Our youngfellas were excellent out there. They will improve for sure. Thats what I really wanted before the game kicked off. All good.
Great game. One McCafferty would spend zillions on to have in the Jeff. Or even in the new Jeff-Frog Greed Cup perhaps? Dunno really.
Well played O's. Ye make the Celtic League, and the rest of us in it, look good. Nuff respect.
And phhoook de begrudgers.
Credwch.
The PRO12 Rocks.

Whew... We'll take the points with both hands thanks!!! That's the hardest game in the Rabo for us, if we'd been offered a draw at the start, I'd have taken it. Well done both sides, Adam made all the difference from us, Leinster's intensity was awesome!!

'cause he's always prone to lose his head at international level and fall apart. He's also lacked the running game to be a big enough threat with ball in hand. Looks as if he's improved now though and should be first choice fly-half for Wales.Feckless Rogue wrote:Great match. Why doesn't Gatland like Biggar? I don't understand it.

Re: Leinster V Ospreys
+1 It'll come hopefully. I think Biggar's got himself under control more now than he used to. He did panic a bit tonight and make a dodgy attempt at a DG wasting value possession, but still that's not unique to him, and learning to keep control when you have the ball comes with experience. Everyone forgets he's still only 23 cause he's been around in the P-12 for about four years nearly. The Saint wrote:'cause he's always prone to lose his head at international level and fall apart. No team in England would have troubled either of these tonight.

Re: Leinster V Ospreys
Great game. Thought Leinster edged it, although Ospreys never give up, and could have sneaked it (cue flashbacks to last night at Ravers )Ospreys will be the happier of the two teams, but Leinster can't be too disappointed with that display against a team that have caused them problems.
McGrath is an animal. Was very impressed with him tonight.

Good start to the season by the O's, 6 points from two tricky away fixtures. They do have an uncanny ability to repeatedly come away from Dublin with something.

Re: Leinster V Ospreys
Big gulf between this stuff and internationals. No reason to think Gatland doesn't like him - just that being decent for the Ospreys has no relevance to test rugby nowadays.Cari wrote:What makes you think he doesn't like him?Feckless Rogue wrote:Great match.
