The Leinster squad trained in UCD on Monday afternoon ahead of Saturday's opening home game of the RaboDirect PRO12 campaign against the Ospreys in the RDS (KO: 6.15pm) as the province look to build on Friday's bonus point win in Wales...Aside from the usual bumps and bruises there are no major concerns from the medical team arising from Friday's game.
Luke Fitzgerald felt tightness in his groin during the second half of the win over the Scarlets and was withdrawn as a precaution. Tight-head prop Martin Moore, the opening try scorer in the win, received treatment for a cut on his nose which required stitches. It is hoped that both players will be available ahead of Friday's midday team announcement. :happy clapper:
Fergus McFadden was a late withdrawal at the weekend with a tight hamstring, but it is expected that the Ireland back will be in the frame this week and he could be joined by Ian Madigan. Sean O'Brien continues to make positive strides on his arm injury and is expected to return over the coming weeks.
Michael Bent (neck), however, is still unavailable while Quinn Roux rolled his ankle in training and is a doubt for Saturday's game.
There were debuts for three players in Wales; St. Mary's College winger Darragh Fanning, out-half Jimmy Gopperth who scored 22 points and Ireland second row Mike McCarthy.

Tyler Ardron and Jeff Hassler will make their Ospreys debuts if they come off the bench
Also, why is NWQ back-rower Tylor Ardron on the bench ahead of a WQ back-rower like Justin Tipuric or Dan Baker?

Re: Leinster V Ospreys
Tito over Grabham because Tito is a better player, Grabham is actually in the Ospreys squad to play wing, not scrum half but he has played at nine beforeinternational197 wrote:

Tipuric is not finished conditioning, Baker is playing for Swansea this weekend.
ross jones should be at fifteen with Fussell on the bench in my opinion so god knows

Re: Leinster V Ospreys
We need to see a few things happening here. Need to see young Macken build on last weeks performance. He is starting to step it up at last and created two of our tries last week. More of it please Brendan. No slacking now boy. Need Fitzy to start rebuilding some real form also. Having D. Kearney and himself, in form on the wings, would be optimal. Fascinated watching Darragh Fanning take his chance. With the departure of Conway and Carr, he needs to.
Need to see Toner and McCarthy starting to form a solid partnership. We are going to need that developed, if we are to go far in Europe this season. Devin is improving with every game, based on the end of last season. He has great hands in the loose and has more dog in him now. Sublime and unmissable at the lineout. More of a rottweiler now, than a former, ineffectual, lanky, labradoodle. McCarthys' power, at the scrum and in the loose, is essential to fill the gap left by Hines and Thorn. This is Leos last season, so it must work as a unit.
There are lots of other wishes in the building of New Leinster, but that lot would do for now. Little, solid, steps...
With Jennings leading a strong pack out and with our backlines' ability to strike almost at will, I feel we have too much for that O's side in this one.

Anyone got a link to the game? (Why can't the people at RTW be good sports and make their online broadcast available in the UK like s4c does)

Saints and / or Glove, spread the rugby Love lads.
Fitz was injured and replaced by Hudson. Hudson now injured and replaced by Madigan.
Madigan to FB and D Kearney to the wing. Even stronger. But a change that was 2nd-half planned. NO more feicin injuries.
Keaaaaaaarneeeeeeeeeeeeeey!

That was from Fussell's error, his 2nd error by the way. Maes will be fuming with him. And I have to agree that he is just a terrible player.

Happy with MOC's attitude so far. He has us attacking at every given opportunity. Like Joe, but Gibbes, as per, has us humming in the forwards. Great defence.
Leinster are finished. A spent force.

Re: Leinster V Ospreys
Toner really has become a better rugby player over the last year. Sweet offload. But, we are making basic errors here in the red zone.
Eradicate those and this is a WBP in the making.

He really is Golden. We do our homework on in-coming players far more seriously now. We made some really awful choices in the past. Lessons Learned.Golden wrote:Gopperth looking like a cracking signing so far
Gopperth has a great varied game in him. Seems to love playing in Blue. Happy that Madigan has some really decent competition. It is mandatory for the Leinster Way to rock on.

I think we stole any form of beauty from the other 3 provinces when it was getting dished out, to be perfectly open and honest about it. I mean, look at that Bowe. He looks like a demented, smiling, monkey.
Ah FFS! Now its Locky. Jeezuz, the rugby Gods are conspiring against us here.
TF we have enough backrowers in stock to feed the Kee-Wees even.

Excellent driving maul from Leinster. I wish they wouldn't do that...oh thank feic, they're penalised and the O's get a scrum. Phew! That was close! Boss in for Reddan. Just as well, Reddan's been a bit of a liability tonight by the looks.
