Sad news about Ken Norton. He should have been allowed to fight for the championship when Spinks had beaten Ali but money talked and Ali had his return fight and last win of his career.RIP Ken.

Very sad news indeed and another link the the heavyweights golden age gone. His ability to always give Ali fits shows his abilities and his fight with Holmes is a stone cold classic. RIP.

Re: ken norton RIP
RIP, a fighter that certainly won't be forgotten. An antidote to Ali, and an entertainer of the masses in what was one of the finest heavyweight bouts in history with Holmes.
Re: ken norton RIP
People tend to forget Holmes needed the last round to beat kenny......Then again Kenny was a different fighter coming forward..Would have given any "Boxer" in heavyweight history big problems...
Unfortunately couldn't fight on the back foot and was intimidated by punchers......
That said one of the champions forever...had a very good career...was a humble guy with one of the best physiques in the games history.........and should have had the better of the Ali trilogy..
A Man and a boxer who had a lot to be proud of...........
and will be missed.........

Re: ken norton RIP
Probably my favourite Heavyweight boxer. His physique pretty much hypnotized me into getting off my formely fat @$$. One point was the difference between a very good career and a great one, having lost the Ali and Holmes fights 143-142 on the deciding cards.
RIP to the Black Hercules.

RIP Ken Norton
Mixed it with the absolute best. Am I right in saying that its just Ali and Forman left from that great time in boxing?

Re: ken norton RIP
ive been surprised given ali's health issues he's outlasted both joe and ken. george hopefully seems still quite healthy and is a bit younger at 64 (i think?)
going to be strange when we lose these greats

One of the most athletically gifted individuals in sports. He seemed to excel at everything. They had to create a rule forcing high schools to limit an individuals athletic entry to just 4 events due to Norton winning everything he was entered into.

Kenny Norton was very exciting, and made great fights against any kind of backfoot boxer or counter puncher. Ali's bogey man and probably the greatest heavyweight never to have won the title in the ring.
Had the physique of a greek god to boot.

Re: ken norton RIP
Lot of rspect for Norton despite him being on the wrong end of some of his biggest fights.
More concerned about the homoerotic overtones of some of the condolence posts here, though.

shocked to hear this news. Norton may have been on the end of some wrong decisions, but at least people seem to realise it. Ive always found him extremely well respected by fans of Boxing

Sad news indeed. Great fighter and better man.
His acting left a lot to be desired though, although an abiding memory was his mashing of Susan George in Mandingo. Wow
RIP Kenny.

Rumours abound that it carried on off set. But who believes those vile rumours
Susan George was a tasty looking bint.

Sad news. Fine fighter and a good fella by all accounts. Gave the Heavyweight division one of its greatest ever nights along with Larry Big Pants.

Re: ken norton RIP
Just caught up with this sad news. Ken Norton may not quite have been an individual great but he significantly contributed to the greatness of his era and that was probably more important.
