Piri Weepu Returns
Nobody panic. Piri Weepu will return to the All Blacks for the difficult away tour to Argentina and SA.
The legendary World Cup winning half will also cover 10 as injuries continue to plague the All Blacks pivots following physical targeting by SA.
The All Blacks strategists back Weepu to reprise his World Cup winning heroics when he shepherded NZ past a determined Argentina with accurate kicking and patient game management, before tearing Australia apart a week after they unexpectedly upset the Springboks.

A trifle Wumish as usual GE but sadly it is as a replacement for Perenara who is proving
as fragile as Richard Kahui was.Shame a great potential talent dogged by injury when it
looked like he had a chance of a game. Also many a wise word spoken in jest and Weepu
is a reliable replacement at 9/10 and as a medium/short range goalkicker.

Weepu is a good back-up to lead the Haka, if required.

Great point Cyril. He can turn a 10 point advantage Haka into a 15 point advantage Haka.

Re: Piri Weepu Returns
Shame he was only a replacement against England last time. He could have made a real difference by sticking his tongue out in that angry 'I've trapped my thumb in the door' manner he has. It's quite cute. I guess he was a bit subdued and the game was already getting away from NZ by the time he came on.GloriousEmpire wrote:Great point Cyril. Re: Piri Weepu Returns
It's great England finally have another story to tell. I was getting sick of the one about the time they beat NZ over a decade ago.
I'm sure this one will start to tire by 2023 but for now it's just amusing.

It made you leave this site for a few weeks so it was a worthwhile result for the game (and the internet).

Leave? Huh? I think I joined shortly after as I was compelled to congratulate England on their remarkable achievement of managing to organise a home match against NZ at the end of a 23 match season when they also had food poisoning.

I'm fairly new here, but isn't there a rule against accusing new posters of returning Gareth?

Re: Piri Weepu Returns
Usually on these forums, those who are the most vocal and arrogant are those who have not actually played the respective sport competitively or successfully and as such are forced to live vicariously through the success of the team they support. Judging by the time and effort spent on here by such posters I can only imagine how their lives have amounted to little. Surely there should be friends or family to spend time with or adventures to be had in life to leave a limited amount of time to spend in front of a computer seeking recognition.
I'm all for banter, joking and the occasional wum but of late this forum is dropping in standard and quality. It is no longer mainly a place to throw around a few thoughts and ideas with genuine sport fans but rather a place where certain posters come to seek attention by contributing little of substance which is a shame.

Ironic that the posters who invade threads with this kind of pretentious self important patronising crap are those who tend to offer nothing in the way of actual content.

GE, odd that you were the first person to reply to my post and so quickly too. You must really keep your eyes glued to this and similar sights, not much else going on in your life right?
Talking about contribution:
Look back at the amount of useless posts you've made and think about the time wasted. That is time you'll never get back. So please keep on living behind a computer screen celebrating arrogantly about successes that you have had nothing to do with. It must be a nice distraction from the mundane grey world you live in.

The particular type of invalid argument you are using here is known as the pyschogenetic fallacy.MMaaxx wrote:GE, odd that you were the first person to reply to my post and so quickly too. You must really keep your eyes glued to this and similar sights, not much else going on in your life right?

Interesting because it usually indicates you have no ability to refute the actual proposition of the argument that has offended you.

I imagine you mean Please Please Me, and that you realise repetition is not the same as erroneous use. Maybe you could teach me the lyrics to a Datsuns track or something?GloriousEmpire wrote:Please, please, please stop using please like the Beatles.

Re: Piri Weepu Returns
I'm not sure what you mean. There's a difference between praising a noteworthy performance and being a die hard fan. I realise that's a novel concept around here where it seems a sign of weakness to admit an opposition team played well rather than say, blaming a refereeing conspiracy or some such nonsense.

Re: Piri Weepu Returns
Referring to a team as 'we' would suggest you do support them (England then NZ now) , or have you forgotten now you've morphed into a NZer? Suggests you just follow which ever team won the last.

Even better was your quote 'It was Kapo O pango on that day that England won, so I doubt we will fear it Again! Maybe they need to come up with a new Haka just for us?'. Sounds to me GE that you were definitely supporting England at the time!

Re: Piri Weepu Returns
TJP has a stress fracture in his foot.
I imagine Weepu is there since all four world class first five eighths have, or are returning from injury. Weepu covers 10 and adds a kicking option.
It's also a wealth of experience to bring in for two games in which the opposition are likely to be niggly, provocative, cynical and realise their best chance is to disrupt the All Blacks rhythm and prevent rugby from being played.

Re: Piri Weepu Returns
I see what you're saying with Weepu, sort of a fight fire with fire type thing. I don't disagree there's good reasons for him being back, I meant more generally there are players more worthy of praise and who other teams will be far more concerned by.GloriousEmpire wrote:TJP has a stress fracture in his foot.

Well Hood, you need experience in these difficult environments where the playing field is often some way from level and Weepu is a robust and experienced campaigner who brings a wealth of World Cup winning composure. So he's a vital asset in the team and the team environment.
