Martin Murray v Wood
Murray has been scheduled to fight Garth Wood (me neither) in Australia. That would be a major backwards step against a really average opponent. It really doesnt seem worth the trip to Australia at all to fight someone that limited especially considering Murray has a criminal record and had visa problems before. Judging by his comments on twitter he doesnt appear too impressed with it either. I wouldnt be surprised to see him jump ship to Matchroom now they have a British world champion.

Re: Martin Murray v Wood
Murray can jump to whichever promotor he likes, the fact still remains that because of his criminal record he isn't going to get a visa to fight in a lot of places. They powers that be only allow the likes of Mike Tyson so fight here there and everywhere despite a criminal past.
Murray would do well to shut his cakehole, keep winning and hope that somewhere along the line Darren Barker agrees to fight him in the UK

He should count himself lucky that having a criminal record us a pre- requisite for getting into Australia.

I recognise the name. Think he managed to get knocked out by Mundine.

My mistake, just checked it out and it was he who knocked out Mundine. It's the one with the weird loose ropes from a few years back.

Oh I know who he is, he got beat by Martinez in his last fight.
Never heard of Wood though.

Tickled me that.
Like Murray, hope he gets this out the way, joins Matchroom and fights Barker. He has earned it.
Is he with Hatton? I think Hatton will be out the business within a year.

Re: Martin Murray v Wood
It's a pretty smart move by Martin Murray to defend his 'interim' WBA strap.
With Golovkin, after he KO's Stevens, looking to fight Chavez Jr and Andre Ward at 168.
Murray will likely get promoted to full WBA champion. Albeit a paper champion.
That opens the door for Barker(IBF) vs Murray(WBA) unification fight.
With the winner likely to get a huge money unification fight with WBC/Linear champion Sergio Martinez in late 2014.
