I thought Bernard looked amazing taking his track suit off and when he ran on the pitch, jogged about for a minute, shook hands with people and walked back off again.

First rule of football betting, never bet on your own team.
Second rule of football betting, the new manager theory. Avoid betting on or against teams with new managers.

I'm so bemused that people seem surprised City got outclassed tonight.
Bayern are a cut above everyone in Europe, and City aren't even among the elite anyways.
AND JUVE EVEN WENT 2-1 UP FFS

I've never minded taxes and benefits being there. I much prefer to know that I would be looked after in some small way by the country if things were ever to go wrong.

Re: Euro Division LXVI
Morning, tactics in by 11:59pm today?
Sodsod I don't mind taxes and benefits, what I do mind is the benefit system getting overused by people who are taking advantage, like someone said on the thread it's a safety net helping the people that need but then you get people turning the safety net into a hammock and sleeping in it all day.
Azzy saying you hate the country is a bit strong, hating the system is a better way of putting it. Say what you like about England but the fact is there are not many better countries.

Re: Euro Division LXVI
What is it about England that's so great then?
The people? No.
The weather? No.
The food? No.
The sport? Possibly.
The history? Possibly.
The landmarks? Possibly.
The scenery? Possibly.
I can't think of one single thing that is head and shoulders above any one country. We just prefer England because we're from here, a French guy would prefer France, a German guy would prefer Germany. Our enjoyment of our country comes from living within the system, and I loathe the system. It's why I don't enjoy living in this country. Sadly for me, the wife would never even countenance moving abroad.

The people are alright mostly. There are some dicks, but there are dicks everywhere.
The weather isn't so bad, I prefer that we get a mix of seasons rather than one long summer-like season where winter is just slightly cooler.
The food could be better.
The sport is great mostly. But I will never understand a love of rugby.
The history is incredible, if you look at what Britain and Brits have achieved through the course of history it's astounding and it's something to be proud of.
Landmarks can be the same as above.
Scenery is alright but a bit dull once you've seen a few fields.
I still may move to America one day. Just because their culture is built around sports and food.

Weather is not bad as you make it out, rather live in these conditions then extreme weather you get elsewhere.
What's wrong with English food? Pizza, burgers, Chinese all great British food.
Who invented Football?
History is good.
Landmarks yeah not brilliant but good enough.
Scenery depends what you're into really, we don't have the mountains or deserts like some do but you can always go somewhere to relax and look at the beauty and wonders in England.
I was thinking more on the lines of freedom of speech (even though there are some weapons who go to far) education etc. You're so used to living in the comfort of England that you complain about the small things that don't matter.
Re: Euro Division LXVI
If you love Belgium and Canada so much why don't you move there right now Azzy BadMood. I heard Canada are looking for teachers and they get paid better then here.Azzy Mahmood wrote:It's Canada for me, for the very same reason. Hockey and steak, that's what I want from life.
Re: Euro Division LXVI
My bit of London is fine, it's the northerners who are vile. And tourists.
Weather is rubbish, there are no seasons anymore, just random weather.
Pizza and Chinese, English food
Football was invented in England, big woop. We're rubbish at it,
History is both good and bad. Slavery. Civil war. Military tactics during the World Wars. Persecution of religious types throughout our history. Continues to this very day.
Landmarks, every country has them.
Scenery is boring, fields, mountains, yawn.
Freedom of speech isn't something I believe in. It allows people to spout tripe, which should be banned.
And the education system is appalling, half of kids get diagnosed with autism because parents are lazy, and it gives teachers an easier time. Primary schools get distracted with teaching 5 year olds Mandarin, rather than maths. Secondary school is a waste of time, too many irrelevant subjects that don't prepare you for the real world, and the bullying of both kids and teachers is morally reprehensible.
Then you get to university and have to pay £27k for the 'privilege'
Don't get me started son.

I imagine Viva and Azzy could spend all day on that "what grinds my gears" topic
One downside is that we do have the midlands just to the North
Brilliant potsWhat's wrong with English food? Pizza, burgers, Chinese all great British food.
You should try Wales, or Scotland, or the Lakes. Okay, there are no deserts, but plenty of mountains and amazing scenery. I live in Wye valley, have the Forest of Dean to the East and the Black Mountains to the West. It is spectacular and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else.Scenery depends what you're into really, we don't have the mountains or deserts like some do but you can always go somewhere to relax and look at the beauty and wonders in England.

Who wants to bet that if Azzy went to Canada he would moan about the exact same things, or replace them with slightly different moans?
Nothing wrong with it, but you have to admit you look at the world with pessimism.

The worst thing about this country is the people who moan all the time about the state of things.
Our education system, our health system are far from perfect and far from being the standard bearer, but we are still priviliged to live in a country that has these systems in place at all. Having these systems is still the exception rather than the norm

Re: Euro Division LXVI
There's no point in having these potentially fantastic systems in place if they don't achieve what they should. The education system should be producing world class minds, instead it's producing kids that just mudge through college and end up in a call centre or stacking shelves in Tescos. Part of that is businesses not giving kids a chance, but generally speaking, youth of today has no interest in learning. The education system needs a lot of work, and Michael Gove is the wrong person to fix it.
The health system is infuriating, but is still good. It could be better of course.
It's things like policing, transport and welfare that really get my goat.

What shall I do, I'm playing PSV.
I'm happy to postpone the game until later when/if we get a manager in. Otherwise I'll just submit last weeks tactics for the game but I don't really want a default win.
Plus I want to go to NikeWorld at lunchtime and look at NFL stuff.

Re: Euro Division LXVI
Michael Gove is an idiot. One of the best achievements of the last labour government was the progress with the education system to what it was in the mid 90s. We had a system that focused on the developing skills needed in life. The ability to research and understand stuff. Michael Gove is systematically taking us backwards to a system where kids are ploughed with knowledge. They might know methods in maths, but they will have no understanding of why they are doing it, how it works and therefore no ability to apply it to any scenario than the rote one that they have been taught.Michael Gove is the wrong person to fix it
Not true. If that system produces more educated children than we would have had without it, then it has a point. It just needs to improve to achieve the full potential of what it shouldThere's no point in having these potentially fantastic systems in place if they don't achieve what they should

I'll postpone and wait for a manager then. That is unless GSC is going to do tactics - and if he is I should probably be told before the deadline so I can do them properly rather than have a surprise match.Afro wrote:Technically, GSC is still manager.
