Mr. Armstrong tested himself above and beyond what the WADA dears did when he started his brief comeback in 2009 and posted the results on his blog for the world to comment on to no credit whatsoever from his shameless critics. There would be no story but for the Tour organizers slandering their own tour without accepting responsibility for their numerous public mishaps past or present.

Scrap the whole pro bike tour and start from scratch with responsible organizers, now there's the ticket!

Yeah Armstrong should be commended for publishing his own results, we all know self-regulation is the strongest form of regulation there is. No way he could just throw any old results up on his blog and claim they were genuine.

Mr. Armstrong also published his official results that paralleled his private results that were carried out as responsibly as official ones.

Bike fans are as dire as footie fans when trying to rationalize their maniacal logic.

This leaking is absolutely disgraceful and puts the UCI up (or rather DOWN) there with other dubious bodies like FIFA and Boxing's.

Shame also to see the Lance haters migrating onto this forum. I'm at one with the learned professor here.

I'm not a Lance hater and at no point did I say he had doped, I stood on the Champs Elysee and cheered him home when he won his last two Tours. I have no idea whether he did or didn't dope as I wasn't there when he gave samples and know nothing about the science behind testing.

My point was, and I wholeheartedly believe this, that self-regulation of athletes (or indeed anyone) is useless and provides no solid evidence for what they are claiming. The idea that my logic is "maniacal" just because I question what is presented to me is ridiculous.

I'm at one with you too Sir! Self-regulation is usually the resort of the smug, self-satisfied complacent. Bankers, estate agents, boxers....

But I thought what was behind Lance publishing his own results was that he was so p**ed off with the rumours and semi-defamations being put about.

The other issue, of course, is whether we can trust the "official" bodies, which are only staffed by fallible human beings. On the evidence of this UCI leak the answer must be a resounding "no".
