The Azzrentice 2019 - Task 2 - Index This
Good morning candidates, and welcome to your second task.
The online football stock market "Football Index" has been making waves in the last 12 months, increasing their users and presumably making a packet in the process. For those unfamiliar with the premise, users buy and sell shares in real-life football players, and trade those shares based on the market prices, which goo up and down depending on a variety of factors.
Your task is to submit a team of eleven players you believe would see the biggest increase on Football Index over the next 12 months. You must use a 4-3-3 formation, and must include a minimum of four different nationalities amongst our team. I will be the sole judge of your submission and so you must both familiarize yourself with Football Index's system, and make your case for each player accordingly.
The deadline for your submissions is Thursday 20 June 2019 at 11:59 and from the losing team, at least one of you will be fired.
I am going to change the teams up:
Team Unicorn: Dolph, Nadz, Renege (one of you three must be Team Leader), BamBam (cannot be Team Leader)
Team Sterling: Twist (Team Captain), Nando, Fluxy, Trebs
You may ask questions.

Re: The Azzrentice 2019 - Task 2 - Index This
Lord Azzy can you confirm whether you are looking for a balanced team when scoring this task, or is it purely the best 4 defenders, 3 midfielders and 3 strikers that would get the most profit?
So for example if we chose 4 right backs as our defenders would we get penalised, even if they make the most profit.

I am looking for a 4-3-3 formation - if you want to select four RBs you can, but they may fit poorly across your backline.
Of course, how you set your two banks of three up is entirely up to you.

As such, I presume you’re saying it would need to be a team that could play to a level to? By which I mean, 4 right backs would likely weaken our central defence and left back position?

Re: The Azzrentice 2019 - Task 2 - Index This
Yes. You could do it, but you'd lose marks as a consequence. Likewise, you can choose three strikers and three attacking midfielders, so 3x number 9s and 3x number 10s, but you'd lose some marks there too.
Needs to be a team - not just 11 players.

Before you ask: purely on price rise, not on dividends you may earn. So if you think Pogba is going to increase by £6 a share by next season, go ahead and include him. But if you think he'll stay the same. and just pay out heavy dividends, that's marks lost.

Re: The Azzrentice 2019 - Task 2 - Index This
INTRODUCTION
Good Morning Lord Azzy. Please see my submission on behalf of Team Sterling for Task Two - Index This.
We have selected a mixture of players which are currently high profile, and some up and coming stars. In any portfolio, it is important to have some more cautious options, and some riskier choices. We feel that we have fit the brief.
Players in general tend to have a boost to their value if they make a transfer, which has come into our thinking with numerous players. We expect several of them to move within the next year, generally to bigger clubs than they already are.
The Premier League tends to have the highest value players, and we have taken that into account with four players currently at Premier League sides in our XI. We think that the high value players will continue to rise.
THE TEAM
---------------------De Gea--------------------
---Castagne---Godfrey------Djene-------Firpo---
-----------------------------------------------
-----------Davies-----Aribo----James-----------
-----------------------------------------------
-----Lozano------------------------Sane--------
--------------------Dybala---------------------
GOALKEEPER - David De Gea (Manchester United)
Price on 19/06/19 - £0.69
He had a bit of a mixed season last year at United, but is consistently getting linked with a move to PSG and to the Spanish clubs. If he moves, then his value will certainly increase. But if he stays at United, then he should have a better season under a more positive manager. In this case, his value should increase.
RIGHT BACK - Timothy Castagne (Atalanta)
Price on 19/06/19 - £0.59
Has had a bit of an increase recently but we feel that his stock will continue to rise over the next twelve months. Atalanta will be competing in next season's Champions League and we feel that the further exposure should help him. He scores goals, which is of use for those that perhaps are less in the know and makes him popular amongst fantasy football players. With Atalanta competing in next season's Champions League and we feel that the further exposure should help him. He's also been linked with a Premier League move and has the ambition to play there. Add this to the fasct that he is now in the Belgium squad, and his inclusion was a no-brainer.
CENTRE BACK - Ben Godfrey (Norwich City)
Price on 19/06/19 - £0.87
Norwich have got a very young defense in general, with several members of that being linked with the likes of the Manchester clubs. Godfrey was a pivotal figure for Norwich as they won the Championship last season. No matter what happens, he will be playing Premier League football next season. Aged only 21, we can see him potentially getting an England call up next season.
CENTRE BACK - Djene Dakonam (Getafe)
Price on 19/06/19 - £0.49
Perhaps a slightly late bloomer with only two seasons playing in one of the top leagues. But he has impressed enough for Getafe to get into the La Liga team of the season. He has been linked with Arsenal and other La Liga clubs, so there is a possibility of the centre back getting a move to a top club. Also helps that he has become more popular with the FIFA crowd with a deserved in form card last season.
LEFT BACK - Junior Firpo (Real Betis)
Price on 19/06/19 - £0.84
The 22 year old left back has impressed at Real Betis, leading to strong links that he could be replacing Marcelo at Real Madrid or potentially heading to Barcelona. He gets forward and was directly involved in eight goals last year, despite being injured for a good portion of the season.
CENTRAL MIDFIELD - Tom Davies (Everton)
Price on 19/06/19 - £0.49
The young Everton midfielder is underpriced. There aren't really any links to a move away, yet. But I expect rumours to start next season, with Davies expected to play a more prominent role at Everton next season. Another player who I would expect to get an England call up, especially as he would be in the U21s this summer if he wasn't injured.
CENTRAL MIDFIELD - Joe Aribo (Charlton)
Price on 19/06/19 - £0.61
Aribo scored ten goals last season for Charlton as he helped them gain promotion to the Championship. A goalscoring box to box midfielder, he has been compared to Patrick Vieira amongst others. Heavily linked with a move away, it is highly likely that he will be playing top level football next season.
CENTRAL MIDFIELD - James Rodriguez (Real Madrid)
Price on 19/06/19 - £1.83
At the time of writing he is in the middle of a move to Napoli. He had a good second season at Bayern, but he asked to move on from there to seek out a new club. He comes with an element of risk but with his price now reduced he is a good investment. In general a transfer increases value, and this is no exception with the deal worth a potential £90m. Playing under Ancelotti, we can see him having a good year in a more competitive Serie A next season.
RIGHT WING - Hirving Lozano (PSV)
Price on 19/06/19 - £1.57
Lozano has scored seventeen league goals in each of his two seasons at PSV. He has been linked with a move of up to £40m to various top European clubs. He brings excitement with his direct playing style, the sort that will get people excited and buy him on this sort of game, increasing his value. It also helps that he has incredible stats on the FIFA series, getting an in form card last year which builds into the hype.
STRIKER - Paulo Dybala (Juventus)
Price on 19/06/19 - £2.70
Has had a recent dip in price which makes him worth buying in anticipation for an increase. Dybala is heavily linked with a move to Manchester United, amongst other clubs. We are confident that a move for the Juventus star will help him on his way to becoming one of the best players in the world. He could be criticised for 'only' scoring ten goals last season but this doesn't account for the fact that much of it was spent on the right wing or in an attacking midfield role rather than his preferred striker role, in order to accomodate Cristiano Ronaldo.
LEFT WING - Leroy Sane (Manchester City)
Price on 19/06/19 - £2.32
He got ten goals and eleven assists despite only playing approximately half of the possible minutes in the Premier League last season (or 16 goals/18 assists in all competitions). Was in and out of the Manchester City side last year, but we expect him to kick on and have a big year next year. He has also been linked with a move to Bayern Munich, but we think he will end up staying at City with a more guaranteed first team role. In addition to this, he is finally getting into the German national team and scoring goals.
Hope you enjoyed the submission and any questions are welcomed.

Re: The Azzrentice 2019 - Task 2 - Index This
- Team Unicorn Submission:
- This is Team Unicorn's submission for Task 2 of the Azzrentice.
Our general approach was to avoid focusing on players who already have a ton of media hype and buzz, who have already seen substantial price rises the past season. We think there is a strong possibility that these players have already seen the bulk of their price rises, and will now either level off or even drop in price as the next big thing comes to mind next season.
We've tried to pick players who are at the bottom of their respective position's prices, but have strong potential for growth, either because they are decent possibilities for moves away or because we think their performances will lead to performance dividends, which will subsequently drive price growth from the more analytical Football Index trader. These are only available in the big 5 leagues (PL, La Liga, Ligue 1, Serie A and Bundesliga) and Europe, so we have concentrated our picks there
We've ended up with a decent mix of relatively unknown players as above, and those who have previously been very strongly hyped but may have slightly stalled in their progress. Traders on the index are very reactionary to the next big thing, and these players are often undervalued, but people will be quick to jump back on if these players show their undoubted talents early next season.
We've very much enjoyed the task, and look forward to your questions
GK - Alessio Cragno - Current Price - 28p
Currently in latest Italy squad, best per whoscored in Europe. Has been strongly linked to a move away. The best goalkeepers seem to be priced at around 60p, so we've chosen someone with the potential to get to that level rather than someone more established who has limited potential for price growth
RB - Pol Lirola - Current Price - 49p
Recently linked with a move to Arsenal, Lirola is the type of young, currently at a small club, top 5 league player who often picks up a lot of buzz on Football Index under the radar. The fact he had the most fb assists in Italy this season is an added bonus
CB - Niklas Stark - Current Price - 40p
Similar profile to Lirola, young and at a smaller club. He's been linked to big moves in the past, and we think there is plenty of room for him to grow in price and be linked with a move to the PL. As he was unfortunately injured at the end of last season, his price levelled off from the growth it was seeing. We'd expect that to continue with a successful return
CB - Dayot Upamecano - Current Price - £1.12
Upamecano is our pick to be next season's big moving defender. This season we've seen the likes of Lucas Hernandez, Eder Militao and shortly Matthijs De Ligt grow massively in price off the back of being linked and completing moves to the biggest clubs in the world. Upamecano fits that profile to a tee, he's already proven himself in one of the big leagues, and is getting the exposure this summer with the U21 tournament. At the very least we think he could perform as Militao did, with a 100% price rise from the start of last season to now
LB - Federico DiMarco - Current Price - 40p
Another youngster with huge potential, he's already on the books at Inter Milan, who with the upmost respect for Kwadwo Asamoah, are hardly the strongest at left back. With Conte coming in, a well rounded left back who can fit the LWB role like DiMarco has shown the potential to is a pretty strong shout for future price growth. He showed what he can do by bossing the left side for Italy u21s against a Spain side fielding the highly rated Aguirregabiria and Soler on that side
DM - Sandro Tonali - Current Price - £1.12
£1.12 seems a pretty strong price for a youngster who has been playing in Serie B this season, but the potential here is massive for the "New Andrea Pirlo". We think he'll either get a move this summer, and be linked to all of the biggest clubs in Italy, or he'll show his enormous talent throughout the 2019/20 season, and be heavily linked to all the biggest clubs in Europe. Either way, he's one of the ones to watch next season and we think his FI price will reflect that
CM - Stanislav Lobotka - Current Price - 49p
Lobotka saw an increase in price recently when the rumours of a move to West Ham were floating around. That didn't come to fruition, and his price has reset, we think there is potential there for a move to be done this summer, as he's a very talented player. We see him as being the type of player to get a move to a higher profile club this summer, then really show his talents and be strongly linked to another move next year.
CM - Ibrahim Sangare - Current Price - 89p
Barcelona, Arsenal, Tottenham, Everton - these are just some of the clubs that the "new Yaya Toure" has been linked to over the past few months. We see him as being the next Ndombele from a Football Index point of view. Our very own BamBam has made over 200% return on Ndombele since October, and we think Sangare has the potential to do similar, especially if he gets a move this summer. There is a long standing tradition of producing dominant central midfield players in Ligue 1, all of whom have moved for big money - one of our favourite picks
FWD - Federico Chiesa - Current Price - £1.81
Chiesa has a famous name and is more than living up to it. He's been a favourite of the v2 fantasy leagues since his breakthrough, and we tend not to be too far wrong. Its almost inevitable he'll move to Juventus at some point, so we aren't necessarily thinking of media buzz driving his price, we think his performances will lead to goal contributions and performance dividends. If he wants that move to happen sooner rather than later, he needs to really carry Fiorentina this season. Bold proclamations by the chairman of not even selling him for 100m euros will also help get him noticed
FWD -Angel Correa - Current price - 53p
Correa is at a crucial point of his career. Griezmann is probably off, while the next big thing in Joao Felix is going to come into the side this season. We think there is an opportunity for Correa to make waves at the start of the season, while Felix acclimatises himself to the demanding setup at Atletico. Correa could have a big impact early on, and then be linked to transfers throughout the season, while still being a valuable member of the attack. The playing time will always be there, with Felix being young and Costa being ever volatile
FWD - Leon Bailey - Current Price - £1.32
12 months ago, Bailey was 20p higher priced than Kai Havertz - the youngster has gone on to have a storming season and shot up to over £3 on the index. Bailey is an amazing talent, the links to Chelsea and other PL clubs won't go away, and he has the opportunity of showing his skills in the CL next season. We think he'll prove his ability, and once again be one of the most talked about wingers in Europe, with a price rise to go along with it

Hello, sorry. Just popping on to see this - interested to see who won.
After some initial ideas from me; it was mainly Trebs with assistance by Nando submitted the task. Fluxys involvement was minimal and mine was pretty non-existent.
Based on the fact Trebs was on holiday but still came back to carry the task, I believe he was the strongest member of the team in regards to submitting something.

Team Sterling - you had some good selections. Players like Djene, Firpo, Aribo and Sane could all be in for significant raises. My concerns with your team are Tom Davies - who I could see becoming another squad player like Harry Winks - de Gea, with goalies not going for much, and Dybala, who I'm not convinced will make that big move.

Team Unicorn - there was a lot to like about your submission. Stark could be the biggest raise of them all, Upamecano and Tonali are poised for greatness, Chiesa too. I'm nowhere near as convinced as you are about Bailey or Correa, nor diMarco, who I think will take longer to increase.

Ok I will have to give huge props to the people in my team. All 3 of them put in the effort and while Bam had the most knowledge regarding the task, dolph and renegade tried their best to learn how the system works.
Bam bought up that we separate the task into two sub teams with one team focusing on GK and Defenders and the other on midfieldes and strikers. This did not really go to plan as everyone created a full list of potential players to scout from. This worked in our favour as everyone was bringing in different ideas and we were all talking about the pro's and cons of each players lists, which helped us in creating the final team.
I must admit I was a sub par team leader. I did the least work in the team while the other 3 did much more than me.

Based on what has been said, Trebs deserves to stay.

Nando, it appears you have also contributed well to the task. You may also go back and await my presence in the hot tub.

Twist, you have admitted yourself that you contributed nothing to the task. You have let yourself, your team, the competition, your family, your friends, your local MP, your country, Nigel Farage and the Old El Paso Party down.
You are fired.

The third task will begin on Monday and will be titled "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. Actually, the referee is watching a replay on a crappy screen and has decided to rename the task How to Fix VAR".

Also love that a player that’s most likely moving to Rangers was picked and seen as a good one

GK - Alessio Cragno - Current Price - 28p - solid pick, should increase a bit over 12 months
RB - Pol Lirola - Current Price - 49p - if he moves, he'll have a decent jump
CB - Niklas Stark - Current Price - 40p - high-risk, high-reward - will either be 35p in 12 months or £1.80
CB - Dayot Upamecano - Current Price - £1.12 - really great pick
LB - Federico DiMarco - Current Price - 40p - liked the pick, not sure about his growth potential over the next 12 months
DM - Sandro Tonali - Current Price - £1.12 - love Tonali, he's going to be huge
CM - Stanislav Lobotka - Current Price - 49p - hadn't heard of him tbh, unsure about his growth projection
CM - Ibrahim Sangare - Current Price - 89p - another very good pick
FWD - Federico Chiesa - Current Price - £1.81 - will increase, not sure by how much
FWD -Angel Correa - Current price - 53p - concerned that he'll be marginalised by Felix, not overshadow him
FWD - Leon Bailey - Current Price - £1.32 - just can't see him increasing much, despite his talent.

Correa logic was that he'd make waves early while Felix settles in, then be deemed too good to be on the bench and get linked to a move
Other than that I mostly agree

Good work my team. You lot did the majority of the work and carried me. Being team leader is hard. I hardly did any leading I'll up my game for the next task as I won't have the pressure.of being team leader.

I was expecting that the next task would’ve been for us to buy shares in the players, hit the football index and other forums banging on about them and creating false transfer stories on Twitter to increase their value
