The enigma that is Danny Dyer Empty The enigma that is Danny Dyer

Post by Guest Wed 02 Oct 2013, 3:13 pm

Can't act........Can't pronounce words properly..........and yet...

Doghouse, Dead Man Walking and.....that other one all suck without him..............Dyer is such a charismatic, larger than life figure that all sequels and remakes without him are pointless.......Winston and Bale are quite charismatic and Oldman is a superb actor but it's a redundant exercise...

I mean I can buy Dyer taking on a a horde of female zombies and winning because it's Danny..........

He's the only Cockney I've ever liked.......

What an enigma..Dyer is....He does everything wrong..right !!!!!..........and If there was ever an illustration charisma trumps ability in the movie business Danny Dyer is it..............

If you like, I'm currently the proud owner of sweet FA in the bank and a load of Thrash/Death/Doom cd's. I doubt you'll want 'em of get much for 'em on ebay so you may as well ask a close relative (or in-law) for money

As much as I think he is a berk, there's something eminently watchable about the guy. He's definitely carved himself a niche in the 'if you need a cockney wideboy but can't afford Ray Winstone' market.

I dont think he is an atrocious actor. He was good in Severance and Human Traffic.

Also on a sidenote, he is joining Eastenders.

A long overdue tribute to the peerless Dyer. Not only an acting behemoth but frequently a voice of his generation. There have been countless words written about 9/11 but few can have summed up the senselessness and incredulity around the tragedy with quite the poignancy of Dyer

Can't believe it's been nearly 11 years since them slags smashed into the twin towers it still freaks my nut out to this day.

A sentiment I am sure we can all relate to.

I like him. He's an actor by trade, as in he earns a decent living from it, but he doesn't think he's Daniel Day Lewis. He doesn't think he's a hard man either, I think some people confuse his onscreen persona with who he really is.

Seen him recently on 8 out of 10 Cats and he was very funny, quite happy to be ripped to pieces by the rest of them. Seemed like a top bloke actually.

What's the name Keith Lemon calls Dyer and people started shouting it at him in the street as a result?

He really shouldn't have made the BBC3 documentary "I Believe in UFOs".

I loved that, it was hilarious, whether intentionally or otherwise.

It was very funny but it didn't do Dyer's credibility any good (although I suppose that's a fairly meaningless point) and, as much as the programme mocked him, it mocked the subject of UFOs even more (although I suppose that's a fairly meaningless point also).

I am with you STC. I don't actually mind him, seems he is big enough to laugh at himself and he is actually not a bad actor, albeit a reasonably limited one.

I saw him in Straightheads/Closure the other day. He was pretty good in that and quite a toned-down version of his usual character. Him and Gillian Anderson made a seriously odd couple though!

Generally I'm not into his mockney geezer spiel but have been known to watch that Hard Men prog.
