Locked threads Empty Locked threads

Post by Champagne_Socialist Tue 8 Oct 2013 - 23:40

I find that certain posters intentionally start using insults to get the thread locked.

The yid army thread was a football related thread and was creating some very good debate until a certain poster came along and started calling everyone a racist and then started throwing around other insults.

Plenty of other threads seem to descend into chaos because usually the same poster just throws around insults and causes the thread to turn into chaos.

A certain poster when losing debates or is frustrated etc thinks that the best response is to throw around insults and their intenton is to get the thread locked because they can't think of a reasoned grown up response and they think that if they don't get the last word they have 'lost' the debate.

We shouldn't let these people allow threads to turn into chaos so that they get locked.

You should not lose sight of the fact this is a sports forum, nothing else. Anything else be it music, film, food or indeed politics are here as a distraction. The minute any of those things start taking too much time and hassle from a moderation perspective they will be locked or removed because it is not what the site was set up for and as such was not what anyone on the moderation team signed up to spend their day clearing up.

With specific regard to the yid army thread it was not really a football thread. It was a current affairs issue (whether political correctness has gone too far) that just so happened to have reared it head in a football context.

I am past the point of caring who starts these arguments but every single time such topics rear their head they degenerate into name calling and insults, hence why the news section was closed. My suggestion would be simply stop raising these topics on here If you want to discuss them, use a current affairs forum, of which I am sure there are many, for discussing them and this forum for discussing sport. This way you get to discuss both topics you feel strongly about, this forum does not get derailed from its original purpose and nobody on the moderation team loses patience and bans a load of people which I can assure you will not be too far off happening should things continue as they are.

As i've said before, its pretty sad adults cant have a decent debate without turning into pointless name calling etc.

News an current Affairs thread was closed down, again because 1 or 2 people felt that they could'nt agree to dissagree, had to insult people.

I enjoy coming on here and having a bit of banter now and then.
Not gonna argue with people i have never met on a forum.

There are some good topics on here and makes for interesting chat.

Well I reported Azania a couple of times on that thread because I saw he was going to derail it, and try to get it locked. Nothing was done about it, and he did get it locked. Looks like I was right.

He'll be on this thread pretty soon, throwing some insults around.

Having just popped on and had a very quick scan of that thread I don't think I've ever seen a more blatantly obvious and extreme example of one poster coming on to deliberately contributed absolutely nothing to the thread and debate and purposefully attempt to sabotage by acting like a 100% class A fool.
