Re: X Factor 2013
Surely there'd be a show with that in mind wouldn't there? Something where the contestants sung with their head in bag or the judges couldn't see them and judged them solely on singing abililty. I'd call it "The Sound" or "You don't need to look at my face"NickisBHAFC wrote:If were judging the show pure on who has the best voice, without question Sam B is the best.
I'd put a show like that up against X-Factor and I bet it would kicked Cowell's show right in the TV nadbags.
Dunno someone hasn't already thought of it.

I actually think this year is the worst for quality in a long time.
Fair play to Sam Bailey, great singer, she's from my way too but any other year she wouldn't even be considered as a legitimate contender in my opinion.
Barlow bossed it last night though!

Don't really bother with the Sunday shows, bar the last twenty minutes when we see who's in the bottom two.

Does anyone else watch it 20 minutes later on sky+ that way you can fast forward all the idiotic dancing by Snorzinger and stupid comments from Walsh and the adverts and still finish as the programme ends so no-one can spoil the result for you

Me and the wife normally start watching it at about 40 mins through. This way, we only have to watch the singing, and comments.Kenny wrote:Does anyone else watch it 20 minutes later on sky+ that way you can fast forward all the idiotic dancing by Snorzinger and stupid comments from Walsh and the adverts and still finish as the programme ends so no-one can spoil the result for you

They do draw it out nowadays, but how else will Mr. Cowell pay for his 16 holidays a month?!
Also saw that ITV have signed it on for another three years. Surprising really with it's decline.

New judges next year isn't there? Barlow, Osbourne, and Walsh are all going. Not sure about Scherzinger? I hope she goes as well, if I'm honest.
Reackon Mel B would be a good judge. A bit of honesty won't go amiss.

So this week the contestants will be performing songs by ex X factor contestants , hopefully they will be a bit imaginative and not have obvious people doing obvious song choices

Tamera should really go tonight, judging by last night. Forgot her words again. Not good enough.

There's only Rough Copy and Sam that are worth watching. That Luke Friend is alright but I think if he won he wouldn't be heard of past his mandatory debut album

Tamera rightfully booed as she stays in. Complete joke. Louis was right in his comments.
Would of been a complete travesty if Rough Copy left, Hannah is good but she isn't as good as 3 or 4 of the other contestants.

Re: X Factor 2013
I feel a bit for Tamera, and nobody deserves to be booed, but after 2 really poor performances in a row she should have gone. She's clearly not ready yet. However, it's not unusual for someone to forget their words and the audience to feel sorry for them and keep them in: happened to Ashley (?) in Leona Lewis's year, and Janet Devlin.
Not sure anyone this year is going to sell that much.
Nicholas strikes me as a nice enough guy, with a good voice, but fairly bland - everything is oversung, bang in time and in tune, there's no freedom there; mind you Joe McElderry was a bit similar and he did pretty well in the end. Can see him having a run in the West End more.
Tamera just looks like a rabbit in the headlights at the moment.
Luke has a bit more character but is striving for that "edgy" market which is overpopulated as it is; his voice is decent but no better.
I don't get Rough Copy: sure they look like nice guys enjoying things and having fun, but the harmonies seem off a lot of the time, and there's no real quality to their tone.
Sam has the best voice by a distance, so to some extent I hope she wins. Not sure she will sell that many records (there is a market for her though) but she deserves a shot. Some of her performances have been a bit mimicky for me, but she does hit the notes very well.
Agree that it's not a particularly strong, or rather not particularly interesting year.
Also, anyone think a couple of guests have lip-synced? I thought one person or group was last night...

I agree about Nicholas. Nice but is far away from having the X Factor.
For me, Sam is the only worthwhile winner, even if she does play it safe every week.

Well, Sam Bailey looked a bit 'aunty at a party' with her first song. Came back well, mind.
Tameera had to go. Surprised Barlow bottled it, by sending it to public vote, tbh.

As for Tameera she will be another Cher Lloyd and be forgotten in 2 years time , not that she can't sing but because there will be another dozen girls just like her come through in that time

Re: X Factor 2013
Given how many records Susan Boyle and Paul Potts have sold compared to the likes of X Factor winners Joe McEldrey ( spelling) , Matt Cardle , Leon Jackson and the like , i can't see why people think that Sam Bailey wouldn't have a successful record career ...... hell you only need to sell 50,000 records to get a number one now a days

Sell 200k records and your mortgage is paid off for you. So long as you don't get caught up in the superstar livestyle, one good year as an X-Factor winner (Album 2 x singles and a little tour) will set you up for life

Re: X Factor 2013
Thought Sam's 1st performance was a bit cringe-worthy, but she more than made up for it with her 2nd song, which was quite brilliant.
Nicholas continues to be a bit dull; his first go was typical - note perfect, but lacking charisma, freedom and entertainment. Clearly he changed his style for the 2nd go by trying to jump around a bit, which I just found a bit awkward, and his voice left him a bit also. He's just not a natural performer yet, and possibly is at this stage far too soon. However I fear that as with Leon Jackson the whole of Scotland is voting for him (along with Sam he's the only act not to have been in the bottom two yet) and as such I think he may well make the final, even the final 2.
Rough Copy's first song was a mess, and their second a load of cheese. I still don't "get" them. They got through on a sympathy vote having been in the bottom two last week.
Tamera is finally gone, somewhat ironically (but not unusually) the week she finally got through her songs. Having said that, her first performance was weak; her second was good, but not outstanding by any means. Having kept her in out of sympathy last week, the public this time was guilt-tripped into booting her off.
Luke I thought had a good night, but he is a bit of a niche artist.
Sam B will win comfortably, particularly as the remaining acts will split the "heart-throb teenage girl vote" which is often the deciding factor. She will sell plenty of records (see Susan Boyle). I reckon Rough Copy will go next week, and Nicholas will probably finish 2nd. And then vanish without a trace after his obligatory self-named album. Luke may go on and sell some records, but not with Syco, he'll have to move.
Incidentally Joe McEldery has actually done ok for himself; he's had a few albums out with a different label which have all done pretty well. Putting him in the same sentence as Leon Jackson, Steve Brookstein or even Matt Cardle is IMO quite harsh.

Re: X Factor 2013
Luke will be OK if he's allowed to bellow his tracks at the top of his voice and forget any notion of subtlety.
It's clear that he has little or no control over his actually singing and I get the distinct impression that without proper vocal training any tours he does will be cancelled halfway through due to him contracting laryngitis.
Glad Tamera's gone....we've already had one Whitney Houston, we don't need another one. At least no-one this year is intent on coming across as a Lady Gaga/Emilie Sandee(sp) wannabe.
The skinny guy from Rough Copy is far and away their best singer but overall the fact they're black doesn't make them the new JLS despite the thinly veiled inference that now JLS have split up there's a gap in the market for a band like this.
The chubby lad who didn't get through should come back next year, make it to the finals then, during his winning song, walk up to Louis Walsh and jab him in the throat with a broken bottle before continuing to sing without missing a beat.

Like i said before i don't think she is that special a singer , you always get 4 or 5 Whitney esq every series and they usually put one through to the live shows so i think her place will be easily filled next year .......just my opinion though

I want Luke Freind to win the show, he has improved so much in the show, he is something different and is very entertaining. His 2nd performance on Saturday was brilliant.
Sam Bailey will be in the final. Not sure who will join her though. I hope Luke. Then either Rough Copy or Nicholas will go. Shame as i like everyone that is left in it!

Wasn't too fussed with RC at the weekend. Luke Friend was great in the sing off though.
Not fussed on Sam Bailey, great singer but her two front teeth look like the rollers on a car wash.

This surely has to be the weakest final on record for X-Factor. Sam Bailey the clear best but would she really in any other year have made it, she's karaoke/cruse liner level and so terribly dated.

Re: X Factor 2013
Rough Copy will get a record deal anyway, no worries there.
Sam is rightly favourite and should win it by a landslide.
Luke seems like a decent natural talent and Nicholas is plain average.
