It was a matter of time
To me this is a bigger loss than halfpenny for the Blues, I hope you find a good replacement because he was very important to your pack.

Knoyle brings plenty of potential which as of yet hasn't been brought out to a consistent level. His composure in particular needs sorting out as I recall, he tends to linger that second too long at the breakdown and gets read far too easily by the opposition from what I remember seeing of him.

As Cyprus aren't an IRB nation I don't think Dico is NWQ.
Next seasons squad is taking shape :
15 Fish / Czekaj
14 Cuthbert / Richard Smith
13 Cory Allen / Owen Williams
12 Ice / Daf Hewitt / Evans
11 George Watkins / Harry Robinson
10 Rhys Patchell / Humberstone / Davies
9 Tavis Knoyle / lloyd Williams / lewis Jones
8 Ieuan Jones / Hamilton
6 Turnbull / Watts Jones / Cook
7 Warbs / Navidi / Ellis Jenkins
5 Filo Paulo
4 Reed / Dicomodis
3 Mitchell / Bourrust / scott Andrews
2 Dacey / Matthew Rees
1 Jenkins / Hobbs
I have probably left someone really obvious out........ second row looks the weakest area where another signing is due ?

You're missing James Down in the second row,
I seriously doubt Ice will be ahead of Cory Allen in the centre!
Think we are unlikely to see Richard Smith used on the wing much, we could use a new winger (i've also heard Czekaj is off), but if not, I think Owen Williams would fill in at 14 again.
At the moment, Warburton won't be playing for us next season
Gareth Davies is rumoured to be off, either way we will need a new no10 urgently.

Tuifua has played wing for Taranaki so is no stranger to playing further out wide than centre

What on earth was Pat Palmer doing in a Blues shirt last night? We were still in that game until his yellow card oppend the flood gates.

Luckily I was busy yesterday so missed the shambles in Ireland for Wales and the Blues...disastrous.
The Blues need a new coach for next season or all these new players will be wasted.

We were very much in the game for the first 50. We scored a belter of a try aswell. Palmer came on, dropped 4 scrums on our line, got a yellow and the game was over after that.

i was surprised that was the need score, they were in it at half time. I think someone along the lines of Rhys Gill is needed.

He didn't look hurt. I guess it was just to see how Palmer went. We released him from the Acad before because he was unfit and not up to the standard. Gwent took a punt and then let him go. I hate being super critical of tight heads as it's an awful place to play. But he isn't up to standard. Looking forward to Mitchell joining next season.

Great news!
Should be a good battle between him and Dacey for the no2 shirt.
Timely return considering Marc Breeze has torn his achilles and is out for the season.

Re; Palmer, he plays semi pro rugby for Ponty so i don't blame him if he looked under par against a professional front row.
Re; Rees, that's great news although i would say Dacey is our starting hooker and he's more an impact player off the bench.

Well done Smiler, really chuffed for him. It is mental to think that when I was a kid cancer meant that someone's time was more or less up. And Smiler has gone from diagnosis to returning to training in under 6 months! That is just amazing, both his personal return and also how far things have come in such a short time

15-10 final score. Thats a big result for Zebre. Apparently Cardiff had a try ruled out for obstruction in the last play of the game.

I watched the game via a stream and we were dreaful. Watts-Jones was a pen machine and Tom Davies got smashed in the scrum when he came on. Only ray of light from the game was Harry and Fish playing well. I do think that we got screwed by the TMO for our try at the death. But i was looking for a forward pass, not obstruction.

Looked like a try for me too. Will have to rewatch it if there was a possible obstruction but i'm pretty sceptical.

Yeah, I had no idea where the obstruction was in that move :/

They have uploaded it on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=9-9qtz7Y-Q8
Hard to see any obstruction, there was some lazy runners but i would have awarded the try (which was a well worked try after a few phases...) it was very poor defense from Zebre where they over commited to the ruck.

Honestly we were robbed. The TMO said "I do not have a number". How can you give it then? Only thing that could have gone against us there was Josh in the side. Both the passes were backwards. We were robbed. But maybe now Phil will go. Please.

Could he have meant the 2 Blues players standing to the side of the final ruck? Certainly don't see how he could mean anyone else.

Gotta say... thats just awful. Normally when you watch these you don't need to go over it 3 or 4 times to see where the obstruction is and I'm still not really sure.
Watch out for those hometown Italian TMOs! I'm not sure the ref and TMO can understand each other- was there pulling back by a Blues player at the previous ruck, which you can't see on the camera? And if there was how can the TMO see that?
I'm very puzzled by that.

I suppose we may not have seen the same footage that the TMO was looking at.
Remember the game where the TMO was looking at a totally different play than the ref wanted him to review?
Certainly seems a very strange call on the evidence shown.

You can look at the TMO but at the need of the day it's just not good enough by the Blues. They should be embarrassed.

Phil has to leave after this one dosn't he? We need to get someone in and let them have the whole of pre season and the chance to get in some of their own players.

How long can Davies last after this loss and who would Blues fans like to see come in if he did leave, could they afford a so called 'marque' named coach or would they have to develop from with?

They already tried to develop from within with Laurel and Hardy... I think the only coach there that has potential is Dale McIntosh. Hopefully for the Blues sake it's somebody decent from outside the club.

Fortunately for Phil Davies because his brother in law Jiffy wont say anything bad about him in the press he doesn't have that added media pressure that some other coaches get.

The blues may go forward as a region not a club just look at the Ospreys next fixture not blues "Cardiff".
Davies has been a flop at all levels, not sure what his future holds! Ponty boys had to take over it was a matter of time.
