Wales team to face Australia
First topic message reminder :
I don't think anyone put their hands up today except Hook and O Williams
Several were dismal and if i see L Williams on the bench i will be very disappointed. Glad Charteris has gone back as he is off form.
Gethin
Hibbard - player of the autumn for me
Rhodri Jones
AWJ
Ryan Jones - I think Evans will be picked but I think Ryan offers more in the loose and was one of few players who looked like he wanted to play today
Lydiate - needs to up his game as he has been quiet this autumn
Warburton - personally would like to see Tips start and Warbs at 6 but expect tho selection
Faletau - has had a fine autumn
Philipps - superb last week, could be his opportunity to get a club!
Biggar - for his kicking game and is less prone to getting isolated and turned over, i may have picked hook if available as i thought he was good today
North - A quiet autumn and ordinary v Tonga. Time to step up
S Williams - excellent footballer, his big opportunity and I am looking forward to him staking a real claim
O Williams - only real bonus from the Tonga game, looked solid
L Williams - is he fit…who else is there.
Halfpenny - involved in both tries, expect the POTY finalist to have a huge game
Owens
Lee
A Prop
Coombes - in reality i think tho swill be Ryan as i expect Gats to select Evans
Tipuric pref for him to start
R Williams
Priestland - I would def pick Hook if available
Beck - barely but who else is there

We need a centre who can kick.
Halfpenny does not have the best kicking game

Re: Wales team to face Australia
No scrums in 40 minutes and our lineout is awful
So,...we have had no possession.
And Halfpenny can't kick,
And Dan Biggar is in the bin for another 10 minutes.
ARGGGG!!

Re: Wales team to face Australia
Australia looking pretty dominant. Other than the lucky try they(Wales)'ve not really created much. Will they come out and pull out one of their great second halves?
Lineouts are a bit of a shambles for both sides.

Re: Wales team to face Australia
If Folau passed a few more times Wallabies would have had a few more tries.
He needs to realise he has team mates.
I know he is a great player but he gets whiteline fever.
Great game so far

Trying to figure out how we're not up by 20. Genia needs to take off the oven mits. Great game so far, good niggle.

Fantastic game so far, George North a bit lucky with his try. But apart from that a really, really good game. Is Leigh Halfpenny carrying an injurie too his leg.
I hope the Second half is as good as the first has been.

Well you could have scored twice if Folau passed and once more if Genia didn't knock.Full Credit wrote:Trying to figure out how we're not up by 20. Genia needs to take off the oven mits. Great game so far, good niggle.

I can't bear the tension…...You might want to take a 2 month break as a MOD starting in about 40 minutes!Biltong wrote:If Folau passed a few more times Wallabies would have had a few more tries.

Pretty evenly matched
Biggar unlucky to get a card, Aussies warned by ref five times before and Wales once, Biggar...!
Lydiate and Hibbard have been fantastic.

Re: Wales team to face Australia
That's what I keep saying, Biltong. He tries to beat one too many defenders.
Wales have shown nothing really. A couple of half breaks and a lucky fall on the ball try.
Only one team is going forward regularly, has 62% possession, run 439m compared to 171m.
The Wallabies are winning the rucks & mauls 43-21,
kicks in play about even 13 (476)-13(513),
Wales having to make twice as many tackles 44-27,
lineouts Wales 3/2, Oz 6/2...
but penalties are letting Wales into the game 5-9.
I hope they play the last 40 mins like our League players have just done against NZ. They need to cut down the errors and not keep giving away penalties.

Is it such a bad thing? Jenkins is in decline and has been for a couple of seasons. Great player in his prime but he'll be nearly 35 at the WC. Wales need a new loosehead.wales606 wrote:We've lost Gethin Jenkins

Re: Wales team to face Australia
without doubt the most attacking rugby i have seen all year. shows what no scrums does to a match! unreal. the players are going to be knackered without the usual scrum breaks for the backs...

There is only 1 side playing rugby, that simple. We have no possession and Aus are proving that they are the most attacking creative set of backs in the world.

Sounds like the Aussies are targeting North rather than Cuthbert?
Hoped to be back in time to watch. Think my nerves would be shot though (bad enough following on twitter).

Some of the handling skills from the Aussies have been outrageous. As a full blooded Englishman I hate admitting this, but when the Wallabies turn it on I love watching them play.

I'm not a winger so correct me if I'm wrong, but to me, it looks like north is having a shocker in defence. His positioning looks terrible. It looks like he doesn't have confidence in his 13 and keeps trying to cover him.

Re: Wales team to face Australia
Wales/Gatlan just do not know how to beat Oz. I do think that playing the Boks, who seem a slightly better version of Wales, so regularly actually helps them play against more physical teams who like to bosh. Not a criticism of Wales, I still think you're better than my team, but I've thought for a while Gatland et al need to look at a less one dimensional game.

Right now it is a 0 dimensional game because the big nosher Roberts isn't playing…just shows he is our only real carrier who can cross the mainlineHood83 wrote:Wales/Gatlan just do not know how to beat Oz.
