Enjoy the game all
I think this 2 game block will end up 1-1 with the home teams winning the respective games. Glaws forwards are slowly improving, but they're still not getting enough front foot ball to the backs.

Game day!
This is my first Edinburgh game of the season - lets hope I'm not a bad omen!
Got to wonder why it has been scheduled for the rubbish time of 1pm on a Sunday if it's not on t.v....

Hmmm, no need to worry, we're just following the script from the Munster game again...
Score an early try, then concede 2 quick tries. We'll sucker punch them in the second half...

Good first 5 minutes then desperately poor since then.
Cuthbert and tonks just ran into each other going for a high ball.

Munster already giving Perpignan something of a horsing in the other game. 22-3 to the Munstermen.

Re: HC, Pool 6, Round 4 Gloucester V Edinburgh
There is a book out, reviewed in the Sunday Herald today, by Alan Brown called The Glasgow Smile. In it he states Scotland is a comedy desert apart from Glasgow. Can anyone name a comedian from Aberdeen, Dundee or Edinburgh ? Some great Chic Murray jokes but i like the one about the Wee Glasgow wummin giving her toddler a gentle chastisement. She is approached by a German tourist who informs her "In Germany ve do not strike children" The wee wummin replies "Well in Partick we don't gas Jews"jimbopip wrote:Don't mock them ASBO, they employ people to be witty for them but since the sad demise of Chic Murray it's been Slim Pickens for them. The last good joke to issue from Edinburgh was "Roddy Grant for Scotland" Roddy Frame would be more plausible.AsLongAsBut100ofUs wrote:

Well that game was definitely there for the taking in that crucial 60 minute spell, but at no point did I ever think we were gonna win that.
Got to stop giving away such easy scores.
Ref was dead set against us in that 2nd half, but that's not why we lost.
Laidlaw was the only Edinburgh player that looked interested! The team was flat all game.

Re: HC, Pool 6, Round 4 Gloucester V Edinburgh
Well that was a Frak embarrassment. Our open field defence seems to be operating a revolving door policy, our kick chase game seems to be missing a vital element in that we don't chase, its really more of a leasurly stroll.
We deserved to lose that game with that performance, that said the ref had a total mare, Gloucester spent most the match offside, every feed into the scrum was squint, the "knock forward" that dents was penalised for went up and backwards, the decision against us when we owned their scrum was just crazy. Plus numerous other mental calls against us. Words cannot describe how poor he was.
However as I said he wasn't the reason we lost. When the opposition can run past 7 players, including running back towards their own half, without a meaningful tackle taking place, then you know you're playing sh*t

Re: HC, Pool 6, Round 4 Gloucester V Edinburgh
Gavin Hastings on the radio commentary was less than impressed by Edinburgh's lack of urgency, he also didn't think much of the ref and to say he is less than complementary of Jack Cuthbert would be an understatement. The other commentator said that Jack Cuthbert was the same height as his namesake Alex, Big Gav said 'that's where the comparison ends'.

Peter Wright had a geat line on BBC radio Scotland about Ben Atiga...
Co commentator talking about Jimmy Cowan, "you don't get 51 caps for New Zealand without being very good.
PW - "yeah but you can get 1 and not be very good"
Re: HC, Pool 6, Round 4 Gloucester V Edinburgh
Cuthbert is poor and doesn't look big in the slightest so surprised he's the same height as Alex. His pace has been greatly over exaggerated as well. Glacial would be a marked improvement.
Sorry I'm being really negative here but that performance was so poor from both Edinburgh & the ref that it's really hard to be positive.

Sums it up well that during one of the kickoffs today lutui - the 38 year old Tongan hooker - was the first to get to the player even though Cuthbert was chasing too.

Re: HC, Pool 6, Round 4 Gloucester V Edinburgh
The second Glaws try was really annoying, as they were clearly in touch on the far aide, so it should have been an Edinburgh lineout rather than 7 points. Still, Glaws deserved to win, their backs were much sharper. We really miss Visser and Scott.
