ROG, Phillips, Sexton all at the one club..... this will be interesting. The flutter, the gargle and the ego is going to be epic.

yes, but only cause he might be playing against us this weekend. maybe he didnt get cited because everyone took pity on him having no club?
nice contrast between phillips distribution and the name of his team...guess he'll be relying on others for the "Racing" bit then.

healy's stamp looked much worse. and it was on the ankle, a much more vulnerable joint than the leg as a whole. healy got cited, phillips hasn't yet i believe? phillips looked more in the way of serious niggle, healy's looked like it could have been a career ending injury for cole.maestegmafia wrote:Regarding Phillips standing on Coopers hand, is that different to Healy standing on Coles leg?quinsforever wrote:yes, but only cause he might be playing against us this weekend. maybe he didnt get cited because everyone took pity on him having no club?

Grewcock got the following scores:
5.5, 5.7, 5.5, 5.8, but the Russian judge only gave him a 3.1.
The nerve, eh?

Kicking a man in the head, I am sure you can remind us of the medical repercussions of the damage done by a twenty stone bloke kicking you in the head with studs on.
None of these acts by Phillips, Healy or Grewcock are nice. They are deplorable, we don't want them to happen in the game. But they do happen.
In this case luckily no one was injured.
No one has been sighted which is not so good in the name of prevention. On the other side of this coin, slow motion cameras make Healy and Phillips act look deplorable, and maybe made Grewcocks look accidental?
Let's just hope that these things happen far less, and that the players committing these gross acts are rightfully punished for their deeds.
I don't want Mike Phillips playing for Wales in a way that could have a player injured, I don't want him doing something stupid and getting sent off, even the saintly have been sent off before and Mike is far from saintly. His stupidity could cost the team a result and the nation face massive disappointment.

Yeah but we can't trust what the Beeb says as accurate, especially around this move -:
27th November - Racing Metro deny signing of scrum-half Mike Phillips (http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/rugby-union/25131040)
2nd December - Wales scrum-half Mike Phillips joins Racing Metro (http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/rugby-union/25190268)
But seriously, unless the rules have changed this season, you were illegilable to play in any ERC tournament for two teams in one season.

Yeah, I know about the issues with registering for clubs in ERC competitions. Also know the BBC get a lot wrong (although the example you posted wasn't the BBC getting it wrong and more a case of the club lying).
Just posting some quotes.

He's been immense for Clermont in the last 3 games i've seen. Recently quoted as saying how gutted he was to be overlooked for the Autumn ints. It's a fair point, but he won't get ahead of Halfpenny and based on age, there's no real benefit to him being in the Wales squad unless Leigh gets injured?

Great bloke to have as back up for Wales, he was in the Six Nations squad last year but this year Gatland said he wasn't sure Byrne would be pushing for a RWC Squad spot in two years time so wanted to give others a run ahead of him..!Bathite wrote:He's been immense for Clermont in the last 3 games i've seen. I would be surprised if he went to the Dragons, they don't really need another fullback.

Definitely more Scarlets to Dragons traffic than the other way around though! Although Rhys Thomas and Maule were perhaps missed more by us than their cast offs have been missed by them???

Going back a bit (and including Ebbw) we have had Chris Wyatt, Matthew Watkins, Iestyn Thomas, Rhys Thomas, Adam Jones (I believe), Nathan Brew, Gareth Maule, Rhodri Gomer-Davis, and now Mike Poole.
Oh and Aled Thomas, kind of. I can't remember, but wasn't Jason Strange a turk before he went to you? Tal Selley ended up with you lot once, oh and Lyn Jones too.

and i don't care frankly because it's irrelevant. every incident is assessed on its own, according to the laws and interpretations and guidance of the time.
so how precisely is an incident 8 years ago relevant to anything on this thread FFS?

From memory, at ruck Grewcock stepped over the ruck while Peel was going for the ball. Grewcock's foot caught Peel in the face. Deliberate? Quite probably, given his track record. But players step of the rucks like that all the time so not that surprising he got away with it (I presume he did otherwise pointless comment).quinsforever wrote:no idea. don't remember it but if thats what he did and it was deliberate it should have been a red, and if missed, a 5-8 week ban. if it was like horwills then he may or may not have gotten any punishment.

I used it as an example of something that actually looked a hell of a lot worse than it was. It wasn't a nice thing to do, but, despite Grewcocks reputation, it wasn't deliberate more bad timing.
Point being these things happen in games and we wish they wouldn't, 90% of them are hopefully not deliberate unlike dragging a player off by his hair or snapping someones arm or leg as they are trapped at the bottom of a ruck.

Quins - it was one of those incidents that when you watch you think Jebus why the hell would he do that, and I think (if memory serves) he got a bit of a slapping of Alfie and both got yellowed, but I am a bit hazy about it to be fair.
But like you say to be fair it is not particularly relevant to this thread, because the IRBs bans now and then seem to differ. When bans were given out before 'previous good behaviour' tended only to be considered when a player who has been around for a while was cited, where as now kids in their first season as a pro get bans reduced on 'previous good behaviour' which is a bit farcical.
