Gwyn Jones on way forward for Wales......
From the Western mail :
'Physically the Welsh team is there. Defensively we are not far off either. It is our approach to using the ball which is what needs to evolve.
Firstly we have to have a more adventurous counter game. Wales must be more willing to run from deep positions because at the moment teams can kick deep against Gatland’s Wales knowing that they will get the ball back.
There were periods against the Wallabies when it became a relentless sequence of Wales kicking deep and Australia running back at us. Wales were trapped in a cycle from which they couldn’t escape.
For his wonderful talents, Leigh Halfpenny is not a frightening kick returner so for Wales to develop this aspect of their game it will have to be a team effort and involve the whole of the back three.
From time to time the team would make mistakes and give up some points but Wales cannot be kicked to with impunity as happens currently, the back three must be a threat.
The other major area which needs to improve is the width with which we play. There are plenty of opportunities for the big runners to slam away at the defensive wall but Wales also need the capability of getting the ball into wider areas sooner.
This is where Scott Williams comes into contention as a starter in the Six Nations. He is something of a rarity these days, he is a centre that passes the ball. Regardless of who plays at 13 – whether they move George North there or opt for another big centre – Wales need a distributor to open up the game.
Wales played their finest rugby of the autumn in the final 20 minutes against Australia. As Wales were chasing the game, they began to pull the ball back from the forward runners to a second wave of deeper backs and started throwing wide.
Wales ditched to ‘earn the right to go wide’ mantra and just got the ball into space and then ran. Williams was integral to achieving that.
Richard Hibbard and Toby Faletau produced some memorable performances, but Williams could be the man that gives Wales a different dimension'
I think he's right, but will gatland and coaching team agree ? Interesting how much he rates Scott Williams as a distributor ?

Re: Gwyn Jones on way forward for Wales......
It is interesting, considering a couple of times Scott has played for Wales, he has been accused of being greedy. England before his try at twickers for one.
