V2 Boxing Podcasts
Our first show is on January the 8th, and we'll have a new member of the team who until then will remain a surprise.
Obviously we want the forum members to be as involved with the show as possible, whether that be coming on to ask us a question or sending your questions in for a guest.
What I want to know for 2014, is who you'd like us to have on the show? If you post it in here and I'll do my best to make it happen.
I'm in talks with a few people at the moment so your suggestions may not happen instantly but I'll do my best

Re: V2 Boxing Podcasts
A bit of everything if I'm honest.
Big British names such as David Haye, Carl Froch, George Groves (Fury interviews are always good).
On the international front Paulie would be a good one. I remember the Q&A with him from when the site was first set up being really good.
Up and comers such as Kal Yafai, Luke Campbell (a friend spoke to him at a xmas do the other week and said he loved chatting about boxing).
But also some more off the wall interviewees such as journey men that have travelled up and down the country in a van to get to a last minute fight (I remember Buncy having some guy on his show and his story was facinating). Retired ref's, promoters, trainers and judges or just retired boxers. People who know sides of boxing that we never get to see.
It's in good hands though. The podcasts we have had over the last 12 months shows how far the site has come from the ashes of the BBC one.

Re: V2 Boxing Podcasts
These Podcasts are the best thing about this site. Think about the old days on 606 BBC. Who would of thought the old members (Hampo, Chris etc) would get the opportunity to speak to such high profile guests. Long may it continue!!!
Re: V2 Boxing Podcasts
Also an avid listener of the podcasts. More of the same, I like the mix between boxer and trainer. You haven't had a dud guest yet. I think getting wilder back would be interesting. He seems the most sought after fighter in that division, everyone has called him out, 2014 will have to represent a step up for him.
4 presenters popping questions at a guest could get messy logistically, sometimes the lines don't come in clear etc. but you guys have doing a great job so know better than me.
So yeah more of the same, and what Spenser said.

Re: V2 Boxing Podcasts
Jeez, you made that so difficult to guess for us. Its a good thing you didn't change him to "Writer" on anything!!
Anyway, enjoy the Podcasts, I might come on and do an Alex special for you, but of course with my very busy schedule with other media work and high profile.... Activities I am involved in, I may have to make it short.

Re: V2 Boxing Podcasts
More than welcome to come on at some point mate, we run a phone in on the football podcast and if members of the boxing forum want us to do a similar thing we will.
To be honest I've only done it now because I've had a chance to, I'll be to hungover to see straight tomorrow.

Awww you went and ruined the surprise!!! haha.
As I said to Hampo Alex, Barnes could be key to getting Carl Frampton on the show as they are best mates.
I've a few others I have contacted but will keep it to myself until I get replies. Hoping to do my best to make the show an even bigger success than its been so far.

Re: V2 Boxing Podcasts
Just heard Joe Egan on a Steve bunce podcast from march and he would be a great guest to have. Loads of stories and a great laugh. He was plugging a book. I had a look on amazon and it had rave reviews. Wonder if Rowley or Chris have read it as I know they love a boxing book or two.

Re: V2 Boxing Podcasts
Thanks for the heads up spencerclarke; we shall get cracking and see if we can't convince him to be interviewed by us rabbles...I'm sure if he could put up with Buncey for any period of time we'd come across as a delight!
Re: V2 Boxing Podcasts
Haha. Buncey couldn't even get a word in! He had a great story of how loads of ex boxers such as srl, Tyson and evander have been around to his mama for tea and that she couldnt watch him fight but loves to see him getting knocked about in films such as sherlock!

Re: V2 Boxing Podcasts
Just thought maybe a bit of exposure for some fighters that ain't really in the spot light. Get two or three on for five mins or so. Glenn Foot from the prize fighter (shame mackem got himself thrown of the site could of helped out there!), Ryan Farrag and Danny Price (both fought on David Price undercards) that sort of thing.
Loving the last few choices for the podcasts by the way. Damian has been a great addition too.

Adam where have you been? Thought you must have retired in luxury. Are you going to be back on the podcast at some stage?

Re: V2 Boxing Podcasts
Adam just works hard away from the podcasts getting guests so we can take all the glory when interviewing them! I told you Adam, stay in the shadow and away from my spotlight!
We have some fantastic guests lined up over the coming 4 weeks; very much down to the hard work of Adam and Paul who keep ensuring this podcast goes from strength to strength. Hopefully you will all enjoy what we have in store.

Re: V2 Boxing Podcasts
With the boxing podcast on Wed, Football on Thurs....doing the V2 awards as well as drafting articles, editing other peoples ready for the magazine launch...as well as putting it together (which in itself is far more complicated than it actually needs to be) I am fast running out of free time! Hence my inability to continue with the 606v2 prediction league that I used to run.
As corny as it sounds though, as long as everyone is enjoying what we are doing it does make it a worthwhile experience. The moment you all stop liking it though, please say....I definitely don't like it enough to waste my time doing it for no reason lol!

Re: V2 Boxing Podcasts
Jeez! Got your work cut out for you. I love the effort you guys put in and most of the contributors most of the time. For all the problems with the sport and the fact so many seem bummed out with it at the moment I love it more than ever. More fights than ever before. Much more televised. Good depth in most divisions. More british fighters than I care to remember and with the podcast a means to get questions asked to all of these guys. Not all as bad as the doom mongers make out. Yes there is plenty in the sport that could be improved but it's as thriving as ever in my eyes.
