ROH Discussion Thread
Previously we've had an 'Independent Wrestling' Thread showcasing news, results and discussions on a mixture of promotions that really didn't seem to ignite a lot of interest from other wrestling fans as it was a bit all over the place, well it's a brand new year and a brand new start, and boy ROH has already started the year of with a Big Bang! There's so much potential heading into 2014, that this really could be the breakout year under SBS Management, the potential to have something that we've not seen since 2010 in my honest opinion.
Since 2010, ROH has seen a lot change throughout a short period of their history, some of which for the better, some of which crashed and failed quite dramatically. Talent have risen and and left through the exit door, Tyler Black, El Generico, Chris Hero, Claudio Castagnoli and the more recent additions of Eddie Edwards & Davey Richards, surely all familiar names within the WWE circle of this board, as the majority are WWE Stars! With the next set of stairs rising and blossoming into why ROH has produced so many wrestlers with Adam Cole, Kyle O'Reilly, Michael Elgin and Tommaso Ciampa already in position take their place and be the next of what has been a very long line
Through-out 2011-2013, we've seen quite significant change, both with shining moments and with angles that have turned fans off the product. Something hasn't quite clicked but moments of magic have risen (Eddie Edwards Vs Davey Richards - Best in The World 2011) (Davey Richards Vs Michael Elgin - Showdown In The Sun 2012) (Adam Cole Vs Kyle O'Reilly - Best in the World 2012) (Kevin Steen Vs Michael Elgin - Glory By Honor 2012) and a consistently pretty good year in 2013 and certainly provided fans with a roller-coaster of emotion and fresh optimism. Both Delirious & Jim Cornette have had spells as creative booker, both have had their moments and have raised eyebrows with decisions, Jim Cornette on the one hand wrote the proposal that delivered Sinclair Broadcasting to purchase the company in mid-2011, but he saw this as an opportunity to reboot the product and as a way to brand and present ROH Wrestling with some good ideas, and with others which often lead to him being labeled as 'Dated' and probably the reason why he's been involved and fired from every major company in USA. Since Late 2012, Delirious, who was previously the booker in 2010, and regained control and having seen out Cornett'e existing storylines we're now seeing the potential on the over side.
First we have our new ROH World Champion, Adam Cole. The perfect cowardly heel who since his debut in late 2009, showed the potential that he was future ROH World Champion material, and without question a future star of WWE! We've also seen the formation of The Decade, regarded as the 'Staples' of the promotion who have been with the company for a number of years who now have a grudge with wrestlers using the promotion as a stepping stone to move onto bigger and better things. The group is lead by Jimmy Jacobs, along with Roderick Strong and the returning BJ Whitmer, the man that 6-Months ago we thought had to retire from professional wrestling. That along with the returns of Paul London, Chris Hero and the freshly-released AJ Styles has the independent scene, and ROH in particular, purring with optimism.
Hopefully, we can continue to keep all ROH related news, matches and talent under on banner, and perhaps as an opportunity to get new and casual fans involved in the discussion!

Re: ROH Discussion Thread
Snippets of News
This Saturday, January 4th, ROH head down south into Nashville (TNA HQ) as they host their first set of television taping for 2014. Already announced for the show is Kevin Steen Vs Chris Hero, as well as the newly crowned ROH Television Champion Tommaso Ciampa making his first title defense against Silas Young.
Wrestling Legend 'Rowdy' Roddy Piper is also scheduled to make his very first ROH debut. He's already confirmed for an autograph signing, but I honestly can see him making his TV debut in some kind of segment. The show will also see AJ Styles return to the company as he takes on The Decade's Roderick Strong.
Speaking of AJ Styles, he's already confirmed for the Anniversary Show & Television Show in February, with more appearances set to be announced in the coming week's/month's.
This Saturday also see's the return of the Top Prospect Tournament. This competition allows outsider's the opportunity to impress and earn an ROH contract, with the winner earning a future Television title shot. The participants are...
#1 - Cory Hollis
#2 - Raymond Rowe
#3 - “The Benchmark” Bill Daly
#4 - Cheeseburger
#5 - Andrew Everett
#6 - The Romantic Touch
#7 - Kongo
#8 - Hanson

Re: ROH Discussion Thread
ROH Officials are said to be very happy with this past weekend's television tapings, with the show during over 1,000 paying fans in attendance. Having witnessed various pictures, the building seemed packed, and it's very pleasing to see considering this is a completely new market for ROH. ROH will also return to Nashville, hosting 'Best in the World' on June 21st.
Although there's no clear indication on how this will effect the 12th Anniversary in February, all four episodes seem very strong. I'm very much behind The Decade now, there's so much potential with this stable that I can see them targeting not only both Briscoe Brothers, but perhaps trying to recruit Paul London or AJ Styles!
