Australian Open: Day Four - 2014
First topic message reminder :
http://www.ausopen.com/en_AU/scores/schedule/schedule9.html
Kokkinakis v Nadal, with the assumption that the second AUS will put up a better match than Tomic.
JwT can get in trouble against Bellucci.
Kavcic has more experience than Duckworth and may take a set of the Old Man.
Kyrgios Sock v Monfils should be entertaining (IMO).
Paire v Krygios. Would love to see Krygios go further.
MoTD - Verdasco v Gabashvili (anyone recall his [Gabashvili, not Nando's 2009 AO] match against Nadal @ USO?)

Been a bit of a costly day at the bookie for me, what with Lu and Verdasco losing... Looking forward to the conclusion of DelPo/Agut as a neutral with no money on the line.

Agut about to serve to stay in the match at 4-5. Paire right back in his match with Kyrgios as he breaks in the fourth set.

Or perhaps he should grow a Paire.

Bautista Agut playing the match of his life here. Holds serve playing some great stuff and we are level at 5-5.

Wow Agut playing some great stuff here. He breaks Del Potro to lead 6-5 and will serve for the match after 3 hours 50 minutes.

Agut stats have him at 5'11, the rise of the basketball tennis player seems to be taking a while.

full marks to Bautista Agut who played a great match, but that is a desperately poor loss for Del Potro to take.

A fantastic match that and Agut wins in five sets. Del Potro out and that despite him playing really good stuff himself. Agut deserved that and gets through to his first Third Round of a slam. Del Potro can take comfort in the knowledge he looks a nailed on certainty to replace Murray at No.4 in the rankings after this tournament.

Kyrgios cramping so bad he can hardly move. Paire breaks to lead 2-1 in the final set and the writing is on the wall.

Yeah I know Craig he chooses it as a hyphenated name but most Spaniards drop it when they use their name.. I actually find it very endearing that they carry their mother´s name through life.
Its funny when we get called at an appointment they Spanish use our first and second Christian Names they never use our surname..

Paire wins in five sets against Kyrgios and so ends over 14 and a half hours of tennis spanning two days at the Australian Open.

Agreed. Andy was bad enough before his back, but now any twinge is going to mentally take him away. So lots of fun, until he can trust it!!

Re: Australian Open: Day Four - 2014
Paire does it. Brave resistance from Kyrgios but in the end he wasn't quite up for a five-setter physically. He'll improve that aspect though, he's only 18.
Paire plays Bautista next round, wonder how much both of them have left after today's exertions.

Agut to play Paire and Dimi to play Raonic. A great opportunity for these 4 to reach unchartered QF territory. I think only Raonic has reached round 4 of a slam. Allez Paire, Come on Dimi!

Re: Australian Open: Day Four - 2014
looking at tomorrow's matches, Mayer vs Janowicz has the potential to be interesting. Mayer has been in some decent form of late, and his all-sorts style could cause Janowicz some problems.
We also have Robredo vs Gasquet (battle of the single handers), Chardy vs Ferrer (you never know, if Chardy gets his serving boots on), Ivanovic vs Stosur (is it harsh to label this once as Beauty & the Beast )

In Taiwan, they often choose an English name as their first name. But they don't really differentiate between our first and last names, so you'd get Jones Chen and Johnson Chang etc.

in south Africa, kids are given Christian names, and then native names, and then clan names, and then names given by a witchdoctor, and finally boys get a name after they undergo the snip at 16-18. it's a wildly convoluted affair, as you then get a praise song in your honor once you're born, which evolves as you grow older.

It (almost) never gets that bad. Generally only two names appear on the birth certificate (in my case three, as my parents are from different cultures - initials TRF, hence "Mr.T" and "kingRaF')... Sometimes there isn't enough space on application forms tks enter my whole name

I wish you'd chosen 'Mr T' as you forum name!
Extensive names are not solely an African thing, however. Just ask Kiefer William Frederick Dempsey George Rufus Sutherland!

Verdasco to win in five sets.
Pretty good effort on the predictions! I'm surprised that the Verdasco match even went to five, that was a good call even though he wasn't the winner. Fed lost ten games exactly, Tsonga was pushed hard in the first set and could've easily gone to 4. Cheers once again for the updates, Craig!
Great day of tennis today, all in all. Shame about JMDP, but an excellent win for Bautista.
