Wlad too high, Rigo too low, aside from that not too bad, also only two GBP fighters on the list.

Re: The Rings P4P Top 10
Agree with Floyd.
Bradley for me should now be 2nd. Beats Pacman, JMM and Prov in succession and is probably rematching Pacman in April.
Ward at 3. Very very in active to be in at 2. Just beat an average fighter in Rodriguez after destroying a drained Chad what seems like a decade ago. Always bores. In at 3.
4th Wlad. Written in stone. Dominates everyone in his way, will never go higher because frankly the quality of heavyweights is Poopie. Quality and classy operator in and out the ring and stays active with two or three fights yearly.
JMM at 5. Knocked out pacman, beat him in the 3rd in my eyes as well. And some others. Took Bradley the distance but his crushing punch of Pacman still devastates.
6. Rigo. Quality operator, fantastic technique, power, speed. Looks to have it all. Dominated a supposed p4p fighter in donaire in only his 11th fight and has just come off the back of yet another decent win against Agbeko.
7. Pacquiao. Still about and has a lot to offer. Good bounce back against Rios, hopefully has a fight with TB in April. Could still destroy 90% of welterweights on his day.
8. Mikey Garcia. Very under rated and solid operator. Some fantastic wins of late which pushes most out the way. Will be a fab year for him.
9. Martinez. Slipped a hell of a lot since 20010/2011. Took into the trenches by Barker and Maklin.....should have lost against Murray and dominated a very very poor fighter in Chavez. Not been around for a while. Possible fight with cotto, not sure how much either have left but could see it as one of his (and their) last.
10. Froch. Continues to amaze. Outboxed by Groves (who many thought he would crush) but yet turns it around, gets on top and gets a stoppage. Hard fought wins against tough guys in Kessler, Bute, Mack, Groves.....his list or resume is endlessly full of class operators. Rematch with Groves as a bow out or take on the divisions best in Ward?? Should find out in the coming months.
Notable mentions to Saul Alvarez, Danny Garcia and Miguel Cotto.

Rigo much too low, Pac too high, not sure why Alvarez deserves top ten, would have Donnaire instead of him. Other than that, wouldn't quibble too much.

No way alvarez should be top 10.
I’d have Garcia top 10. unbeaten and 2 good wins in Khan and Matthysse.

I don't understand how you could have Rigo outside the top 2. He has a very strong case for being number one right now.

I'd have Mikey Garcia in it ahead of Alvarez.
And agree with Oasis that Danny's recent CV is better than Saul's too.

And Bradley in second is too high for me. Lost comfortably against Manny if we are being honest and had a real struggle with the limited, but very tough, Prov.

Well if I am going to take the Truss line I could argue that Rigo has been at the top for 4 years and has beaten more p4p fighters than Floyd by this stage in his career.

I wouldn't argue either way who is top. Rigo has the better stand out in, Floyd has more quality overall. Both have been dominant, arguably Rigo slightly more so. Both have awesome skills, albeit slightly boring at times. Again it is questionable who is better but certainly not a massive amount in them which ever way you go.

Rigo's a difficult one to rate. No'1 for skills, but not many fights (and even less names) pushes him down the rankings, however his win over donaire nudges him back up to 3. For now, Ward and Mayweather go ahead on opposition faced.

Neither has Rigo at the highest level............
This guy would have had Honey above Hagler............After he beat Number 1 Don Curry...
Then again he adds a witty line or two on here now and again..........So he can contribute in some way !!

Re: The Rings P4P Top 10
you can't really knock ward for the supersix format. He's had a bad shoulder injury too, so its not as if he's chosen to fight infrequently.
I've just visited boxrec, he's had 7 fights against good competition in 50 months. Over the same time span Rigo has had 10 fights (through choice?) against mixed competition.

Think Floyd, Ward and Bradley are good at top 3.......
Rigo has the potential to change that...........But he has to do more.

Canelo doesn't deserve top ten. This is a fair statement isn't it?
Bradley is also number 3 on my list, with Rigo 4th.

Re: The Rings P4P Top 10
I feel fans and writers alike, when composing a p4p list, have a propensity to include fighters from a distribution of the weight classes, simply for the sake of it or to give balance. I don't think it's necessary. Domination, over poor-to-average opponents, in weak weight classes should not be a precursor to inclusion.

I credit Manny for his win......He's top 20 ATG........I credit Holmes for Witherspoon, May for Castillo, Ali for Norton and Louis for Walcott.........
Won't stop me saying 10-1-1 was a disgrace though............But I always say a win is a win is a win.

5. Juan Manuel Marquez
6. Manny Pacquiao
7. Sergio Martinez
8. Mikey Garcia
9. Wlad Klitschko
10. Nonito Donaire
I do want to have Provo in there but I want to give Donaire another chance. Another lacklustre display like the one against Vic will see him dropped.

Provodnikov hasn't done nearly enough yet. He has one decent win, and a close loss to a top guy. I expect him to do well (not too well given his limitations) but he has to win the fights first.

As you know, boxing is alot more then just fundamentals.
Provo has power which he carries right threw to the 12, fantasic engine, iron chin with a good ability to cut off the ring. He reminds me of Marg with alot more power.
Cant think of many boxers around Welter and Light Welter that would voluntarily get in the ring with him. Especially after what he done to Bradley, and what Bradley done to Martinez since.
I know one thing, if he every gets in the ring with Mayweather, it would get my juices flowing.

So you stick a guy on a list for losing a fight ...where the winner fought the wrong fight...and still won ??
Provo enhances Bradley's legacy........The same way the useless Berbick enhances Holmes legacy.........When vanquished foes go on to nick a title....
but you can't miss him...Like Berbick a poor champion...but a champ nonetheless.

I know where your coming from but if Provo was rightly giving the 10 - 8 in the first, it would have been a draw.
If you notice he is not am my list ATM
But I do rate him and can see him making an appearence.

Plenty of evidence that he can dish out beating aswell, and concuss someone for months.

Re: The Rings P4P Top 10
1 Mayweather
2 Bradley - sneaks ahead of Ward due to the latter's inactivity (not entirely his fault, but them's the breaks)
3 Ward
4 Rigo - hasn't quite backed up the Donnaire win or he would be higher (again possibly not his fault but...)
5 Wlad - despite the weakness of the HW division, Wlad has beaten pretty much everyone out there, in decisive fashion, and you can't really ask for much more
6 Martinez
7 JMM - close between him and Martinez, but JMM's defeat to Bradley pushes him down just enough.
8 Danny Garcia - a couple of very good wins recently, deserves his top ten spot.
9 Pac - I rate him lower than most, think his recent work has been poor, and there's only so long you can live on past glories.
10 Froch - think he's come in for some very harsh criticism after the Groves fight, his record still more than stands up to scrutiny, and just don't think the Groves fight (which he did win after all, albeit controversially) deserves to see him drop out altogether.

The comment was purely directed at Truss who uses Prov to put alongside a 'win' against Manny (that never was) and an SD versus JMM to elevate Bradley to an undisputable #3.
