If Maesteg sees nothing but green grass on his half of the TV for the first half of the game, then he'll know Wales are having a thunderously good game down our end.

Marshall has been selected to play for Ulster tomorrow. So he is definitely out of the squad. Team anouncement at 1:20 I think.

So is it D'Arcy/Madigan to go to 12 then? (unless the latter is injured, I'm not sure).

Saint; D'Arcy in for Luke Marshall and O'Connell back in for Tuohy are the only two changes for the Wales game, so just one change at 12 from the original team to play Scotland.
I think it's rotation. They are pretty evenly matched and the six-day turnaround between our first two games has been well documented.

Re: Wales team vs Ireland
The team lacks ball carriers and dynamism imo. We could do with someone like Zebo on the wings, I really hope Joe doesn't have something against himand he'll be back in the team soon. In terms of ball carriers I would have liked to have seen Touhy ahead of Toner and obviously SOB is irreplaceable so the back row will always be lacking.

No, our excuse for losing will probably be because Wales were better. Now, what will Welsh excuses be? Lions fatigue?

Maybe you'll just 'steal' the wrong ball again - much easier than trying to get Barnes on your side

We won't be losing, this is the first time in years that Wales will face an Ireland team that is playing to coherent gameplan. They could only beat us by a score when we were playing like drains, now that's changed I would expect a healthy Irish win.The weather might keep the score down but if it's dry I'd say we'll win by 10+.

I can't quite believe Leinster are giving 4 props to the national team.
I hope Ireland beat Wales and well.
Wales have overachieved and Ireland underachieved the last 2-3 years, time for a change.

Re: Wales team vs Ireland
What about the last 50 years where Scotland have won more Grandslams than you ? Kindey had a long innings then
I think whoever wins it will be a cracker. Has consistently been the game of the tournament for the last 3/4 years
Adds extra spice that my mrs is Irish, I've brewed a 30 pint keg of choc/coffee stout to celebrate.
Whatever happens, we'll all be Scots afterwards

assore, the 'you' refers to you lot, as in the Irish rugby fans on here. No, not making it up. The Irish have always been precious. Eager to criticise others for booing kickers then deny it when it happens from your own. I'm sure Great Gats will be booed this weekend. Not to worry though, as I'm certain he will be smiling afterwards .

Relax Saint...you're double Champs going for an historic 3rd title in sequence. You're edgy, you're irritable, you're niggly, you're nitpicky, you have Irishaphobia , you're probably 'bantering' but you do it with a sniped nose that can often disguise the 'fun'.
Relax. Chill. Enjoy the buildup, don't grate your teeth so much - dentists are expensive

I'd be the first to say the Eng v Scot fixture is rarely a classic, but then again I'm not saying its has consistently been the game of the tournament for the last 3/4 years
I'm just saying IRE V WAL isn't everyones game of the 6 Nations.

France vs England will be very hard to top by any game this year. But Ireland vs Wales was probably the best game of last years tournament.

It's been a good game the last 2 years but I'm fairly certain the 2 games before that were among the worst examples of puke rugby by both sides.

How do you know for certain it is the No1 game for a lot of neutral fans?
What is that based on to back up your big claim?

Re: Wales team vs Ireland
Literally speaking Scrumpy is right. If he doesn't see the Ire v Wales game as some others then it's not "everyones" game of the 6 Nations. It will however define Wales's season. If we can win then I believe we will at least tie on points for the championship as wehave France and Scotland to come at home and an equally tough game at Twickenham.

It's bloody nepotism and cronyism like this that's led to the banking crisis and subsequent bailout in the south, a load of flag waving bolar hat wearing thugs to take over the north and the catholic church to abuse innocents for generations up and down the Island unchallenged for generations.
What a load of crock, the whole bloody country has been brainwashed by Arthur Guinness, AIB and Gerry Thornley.

Polls are useless, fans just vote for their teams to get 'one up' on each other.
Fine, of all my friends/family from various backgrounds, they agree that Wales v Ireland is usually the most entertaining match.
Yes, France v England was brilliant, if for comedy value alone

Re: Wales team vs Ireland
Scrumpy, they kinda are the games neutrals want to see in the last few years - the drawma, the Gats affairs with the Irish, ballboys, close run scorelines, in-your-face beligerent and often very pacy rugby.... a growing, growling rivalry.
I can remove myself from the inside and look dispassionately and I believe 606 reflects the idea in recent years that many of our SH colleagues here think the Welsh/irish game is the one that has the potential to be explosive in passion and skills terms.
It's a cycle - that interest mightn't last. You never know - Scotland v Italy might be the crowd pleasing firefights into the future.

Bit rich for Scrumps to come out with that. Aren't we continuously told ever year that France/England fixtures is the game of the 6 Nations? When was the last time either won the bloody thing?

Current IRB rankings.
4(4) ENGLAND 84.52
5(5) FRANCE 82.05
6(6) WALES 80.19
7(7) IRELAND 79.96
So surely the BIG game of the 6 nations is England v France?
I'm sure thats the one that will get the biggest raitings, not that I'm making BIG claims about it!
Just wondering what Munk is baseing his ramblings on?

We'll see Scrumpy...a long way to go in this 6N.
France shouldn't have been even in barking distance with England - they weren't a team, they were a shower of skilled chancers doing freelance scouting work and getting there somehow. As a game though, France weren't there as a team and the big puzzle is how England lost.
