Cardiff v Leinster
Thursday night. 8pm. Day before Wales v France.
What a pathetic League. I wonder what the attendance will be? Maybe it will give us a clue about how many Welsh people want to be in this sad excuse for a rugby competition.

Nope 3 games Saturday afternoon.
Over and above that Cardiff would have had a large this.
I suspect they didn't want to play Saturday and weren't allowed to play on Friday.
They had a choice Sunday or Thursday night and choose Thursday - you beef is with Cardiff rather than Pro12.

Exactly. Proper regular kick off times.

Is it balls. Newport are playing Sunday The league is a joke. Fixture times are a joke. Just have a look at the HUGE advantage Ulster get with their fixtures. As usual, swayed towards the Irish teams.
Pathetic.

Why not thursday nights? this is the students night remember why not bring them to a game of rugby?
I don't think thursday nights game are remotely as bad as people make them out to be.
Also thats the 2nd consecutive home game for Cardiff so no problem really for the short turnaraund, if anything it gives them more rest for the Zebre away fixture.

Re: Cardiff v Leinster
Nope - fixtures are planned around the preferences of the teams and the demands of the TV companies.
Why should Ulster play on a Saturday just to suit the Welsh - Friday night is our traditional playing time.
Yours is Saturday - different strokes.
Ours is build around freeing up players and spectators to go to AIB games that are played on Saturdays
One of the great myths of the Aviva is that they play on Saturdays
Look at the fixtures there is always a Friday game and always a Sunday game and often two.
All leagues create their fixtures around the wishes of the clubs and the demands of TV.
You really need to look at who is responsible for this fixture decision.
It is NOT the league it is Cardiff Blues and BBC Wales.
If you want to blame anyone blame your fellow countrymen who run those organizations

I'm looking forward to watching this game on the television tonight . However, I feel sad that it clashes with the first half of the Jonathan show on S4C .

Ulster have had every single home league game in the last 3 years played on a Friday night. Their preferred time.
The Welsh regions have had all manner of kick off times for their home games ranging from Thursday night to Sunday night.
I have no doubt you will wriggle out of this fact blaming anybody but the Irish and the Pro12 organisers. Hopefully some people who read this fact will see it for what it is.

I agree. It is a mixture of the greedy Unions, the tv companies and the pro12. And who suffers? The fans (apart from the Ulster fans who get what they want every single week)

Scarlets V Edinburgh 14:30 Saturday
Scotland V Italy 14:30 Saturday
I guess that there will be very little travelling support.

Re: Cardiff v Leinster
I see the Aviva games are only 2 hours before the England v Ireland.
Now that is crap fixture planning and very unfair on English supporters of those teams.
Ulster have had every single home league game in the last 3 years played on a Friday night. Their preferred time.
The Welsh regions have had all manner of kick off times for their home games ranging from Thursday night to Sunday night.
So what the league listen to the teams and the TV companies - blame them.
We get what we want because we want Friday nights, our local TV channel are happy to broadcast on Friday night.
If Cardiff and BBC Wales went to the league and said we want every home game on Saturday afternoon I sure they would be happy to oblige. You really cant blame the Irish, or the league, because the Welsh regions/TV companies cant get their act together.

I'd say you are the type of fellah who asks a girl out and then when she refuses says "focking lesbian" and never contemplates that it might be because of any failings on your part.
Now feck off and stop stinking up threads with your pathetic childish whinging, and stop eroding the sympathy that decent Welsh posters have and deserve on the state of their national game.

To be fair your TV channel has one team to broadcast, it is not the same as say S4C or BBC2W having 4 teams to try and juggle. Apples and pears.

True enough and a valid enough point.
However I simple don't accept you can blame the league for this match being on a Thursday.
Arranging league matches when the 6N on is always a problem and it is compounded for Cardiff because of the International being on a Friday.
Given that and given they probably were reluctant to clash with the 2 games on a Saturday that left Sunday or Thursday.

Re: Cardiff v Leinster
Geoff - I see your point. It is not the Rabo's fault as such, however it is a real pain in the rectum for fans when the TV company gets priority over the people who actually attend games. The Aviva does have a bit of an advantage over the Rabo when it comes to international/club match clashes, as in the Rabo we have to be mindful of when Italy, Ireland, Scotland and Wales are playing their games, when arranging fixtures, whereas in the Aviva they only need to worry about the English games.
Edit -: Not too sure it was a simple choice of Thursday or Sunday either, I think it was a case of the Beeb/S4C saying we have internationals on Friday and Saturday, Dragons/Ospreys on Sunday (and Scrum V too), so the only day that was available was Thursday.

Re: Cardiff v Leinster
You are certainly correct that TV rules the roost and I suspect that you are correct if you are saying Welsh TV said 1 on Thursday and 1 on Sunday.
As for Ulster playing on Friday I suspect it suits Leinster and Munster as they are not as keen as us to play on Friday and asan aside allows RTE/TNaG to cover more games if they want.
In both cases though it does illustrate it is not the league dictating when teams play - in order of influence I would suggest, in order, TV, teams then +League.
It does actually make the 3 Aviva games 2 hours before Englands kick off seem bizarre.
Basically BT riding rough shod over the wishes of English supporters I would suggest.

Re: Cardiff v Leinster
3 games 2hrs before, means they should all be finished before the England game. Not like Edinburgh kicking off exactly the same as Scotland. Although I think that's more the Scarlets trying to utilise ko times for the best possible home fan attendance, as its a non televised game.

Someone corrects the spanner who starts it and HE becomes the bad guy?
No wonder all the decent posters are leaving the Club Rugby section in droves.

Mitchell is en route L4FL. They just need to hope he stays free of injury for a change. If they also kept hold of Halfpenny and Bradley Davies they would have quite some team next season.

Yes it should be very strong, Dacey and Rees at hooker and Dicomidis with Paulo at lock is a big front 5 with good experience.
