Must confess I have very little knowledge of Cermeno but such a tragic end to his life:

Venezuela is as bad as Colombia for unruly types.......Who can forget Escobar vs the Los pepes for dumping victims on roads....

It's either drugs related or being one of the few national heroes along with Esparragoza they thought they could ransom him off.......

Shame If it's the latter.............Good riddance If it's the fist scenario...
