Way to easy here but what was that clearance kick right after that turnover?

I'm coming around to this idea of Richie Vernon as a centre. He's been very good whenever I've seen him.

Not sure I agree with that, but as long as Nigel is consistent.

Any news on what happened for Fitzgerald not starting? Only switched over from the Scarlets v Munster game just before KO - and I don't speak Gaelic!

That Vernon chap is rather good at this centre lark.
Someone should have suggested the move sooner...

Dunno, Leinster twitter account didn't give a reason. Sam Coughlan-Murray is in.

Re: Leinster vs Glasgow
Quite happy with how Glasgow are playing, I still think Leinster are too strong for us. If we come away with a point from this game I will be happy

Re: Leinster vs Glasgow
Disappointed Nigel fell for that one. If Niko wasn't there the pass would have gone to no one.
Re: Leinster vs Glasgow
But he was standing in an offside position. Well played for by Reddan- if Matawalu is working hard to be onside, he can't play for it and Owens can't give it. It's Matawalus fault.

Not don't agree, it's the rubgy equivalent of a dive.

Agreed, it's against the spirit of the game.

Leinster lineout misfiring, scrum bit more even. Try! Gangly ginger kid on the wing.

A dive is an attempt to con the ref when an opponent has done nothing wrong. This is bringing the referees attention to a player who is doing something wrong.

Nope, most dives come from the lightest of contacts in an attempt to make the ref think that is was worse than it was. Which is why I compared it to a dive.

Re: Leinster vs Glasgow
But if Matawalu isn't offside then it can't happen. Just putting your hands up doesn't make it legal to run a lazy line with the intention of blocking the view of the opposition scrum-half. It's a very clear cut penalty for that.

Yes, I am not denying he was off-side, but he threw it into him deliberately, if it hadn't hit him it would have went to no one, so who was he passing to. Milking a penalty

It's comparable to a dive in a way that you can avoid it and actually play the game.

Re: Leinster vs Glasgow
So what do you do? You have to give the penalty wherever the scrum-half throws the ball. It's not against the rules to throw a poor pass.

Re: Leinster vs Glasgow
Even if play continues and the 9 avoids the lazy runner the referee really should be playing a penalty advantage in any event.

I don't think it was a poor pass it was a very well aimed pass straight into Niko.

Re: Leinster vs Glasgow
Daft of Niko to be there - Tedious and cynical play to deliberately throw the ball into him. He was not blocking a pass to a Leinster player

Re: Leinster vs Glasgow
But how can you penalise a 9 for that when the lazy runner is committing a blatant penalty offence? After all, in this case Matawalu is making no effort to get back onside.
If Reddan plays around him it's a penalty advantage, if play breaks down it's a penalty. Do you warn Reddan? For what rule? Ungentlemanly conduct?

You'll see more cynical play at any scrum or breakdown than that.

So B is worse than A, therefore A is ok. Not sure about that logic.
Anyway as much as i want to spend my Saturday night on the internet, we are going round in circles. I am going to concentrate on the rest of the game.

Yes, but then Leinster do excel when it comes to living on the edge...Notch wrote:You'll see more cynical play at any scrum or breakdown than that.
Re: Leinster vs Glasgow
Oh absolutely. But thats a good thing. You have to be smart about how you play the ref in this game, but I don't know if you can call this living on the edge- Matawalu is the only guy who's doing anything against the laws.

Interesting to see what Nakarawa can do at 8, not the best of start though.
