Kell Brook vs.......
Alvaro Robles?
Kell Brook is fighting in a 10 rounder on the under card of Tony Bellews super fight in Sheffield.
Surely Kell has to be THE highest hype job in UK history along with having the worst record at this stage of his career??
What amazes me is he was banging his drum recently *with Hearn* about sparking Khan?
That talk died down and Robles is the guy instead.
I've never heard of this boxer (if he is at all).
Joke all round, the sooner this guy clears off the bloody better.

Re: Kell Brook vs.......
Hearn is trying to get Khan but I have a feeling Khan will duck the offer and fight Collazo instead.
Kell needs to have a big year starting NOW any slip ups can really damage his fragile career at the mo. Whats the issue with him/
Maybe he don't sell well or maybe he has confidence issues I just don't know.

It's in Liverpool
Poor fight, really is. If Brook doesn't fight for a world title by the end of the year he never will.

Ha! Thanks for the correction Hampo.
The MGM of the UK.....
Don't know if its confidence or just lack of ability that's known within his camp, hence the lack of big fights.
Never the less, this year is surely make or break.
How old is he?!

I saw this the other day. Surprised there wasn't a quicker reaction/uproar here on 606v2. He needs to fight a decent top 5-ish fight, and soon. Very, very disappointing. He's doing a Cleverly (but at least he's not getting to call himself 'world champion')

Re: Kell Brook vs.......
Hearn hasnt been able to make Brook a worthwhile opponent. Hes probably in the hottest division of boxing but its all Stateside. The only way Hearn could try and get Brook up the ladder was through numerous eliminators and when he finally got there injuries scuppered him. There are too many other attractive options in the division for the fighters and Hearn has struggled to get him involved. Unless he can force mandatory status its hard to see him being given a free shot at a title given the names in the division.

Re: Kell Brook vs.......
i dont think hearn has total confidence in brooks ability, just like warren didnt. hes been treading water for a while now, waiting for the right title holder to come along, and when it did he got injured. even so, kell has clearly been over hyped, and they dont want to put him in a 50/50 fight until theres a belt on the line.

Virgil Hunter has just said Brook needs to fight a top contender before a fight with Khan will happen.

Re: Kell Brook vs.......
I think we all knew the two main targets were khan and robles. With khan running scared, what choice did they have? Eddie is hoping to get this sanctioned as a semi-final eliminator to become mandatory for the WTF super diamond emeritus belt.
As keep busy fights go, this should keep brook busy for a couple of minutes. A career in stagnation.
As has been said, they can't get a fight for a belt and don't want to take a risk without one on the line. Unfortunately it seems increasingly obvious that unless Eddie wants to make a belt holder an offer they can't refuse, they're going to have to make some waves and take a risk to get that shot. Think we've been saying that for a while now.

Big talk about Khan fighting Collazo, not sure he can be accused of running scared from a guy who hasn't fought at world level. Brooks 28 this year, time is running out and in a stacked division, I'm surprised Eddie hasn't sent him overseas, he did it with Barker and Purdy, chuck Brook in the deep end and see if he sinks or learns to swim.

Re: Kell Brook vs.......
Collazo isn't a fight I'd fancy Khan in - particularly given his lack of top level activity recently.
I'm done even reading about Brook until he fights someone good.

Running scared comment was firmly Tongue-in-cheek hampo... Or am I falling for a rowley 'double Irony' proposition again!

Still If he does crash and burn..No one can say it's because he's green..

Liverpool card is pretty dross all round tbh.
Hill has said Khan won't fight Broner but that the Brit public should be 'very pleased' about his oppo to be announced imminently. Could be Kell, but I doubt it.

My guess is that it will be another blown up lightweight who will probably still drop him and give him hell. Khan then claims he's now in line for FMJ and I start foaming at the mouth.
Let's face it, won't be Brook as he can punch and if Khan were to hopefully have his legs turned to jelly (for the 645th time in his career) and stopped his career would be totally and utterly over.

Re: Kell Brook vs.......
I'd put Bradley Pryce forward as an opponent for Kell but I'm not convinced Hearn will risk Brook taking on such a seasoned and dangerous operator.
I recall doing an article about a million years ago touting Bradley Pryce as a marking time opponent for Kell and got a dog's abuse for it. I think is was before Brook fought Jennings. Hilarious that I mock TRUSSMAN for dredging up articles from five years ago and now I can happily do the same (albeit somewhat tongue in cheek...but seriously, please give Bradley a call)

Isn't Pryce in Pakistan on Taliban training? Or have I got the wrong boxer?
Now I'm confused.

Are you suggesting Bradley Pryce and Anthony Small are one and the same person?

Ah, that's the one.
I knew I'd got the wrong person!
Don't quite get the fixation with Pryce though..... Did you two get jiggly after one of his fights and you can't get over that you were just another groupie to him?!

Re: Kell Brook vs.......
No, Brook and Jennings were supposed to fight and it kept getting postponed (think Jennings was injured or something like that) so Brook was treading water (sounds familiar). Pryce had recently decided to move down from LM to WW so I suggested that he and Brook could fight just to keep Kell ticking over (Pryce never really had much in the way of a genuine chance at World level but would have probably been a better test than some of the last minute replacements promoters used to drag in).
The article (like most of my efforts) was met with a mixture of aggressive indifference and outright hostility but since then, I've decided to shoehorn Pryce's name in to articles wherever possible.
Someone posts a "Floyd's next opponent" article? I post a comment that it's going to be Bradley.
Look, if Adrian Stone can get a shot at Shane Mosley, Gary Lockett gets a shot at Kelly Pavlik and Michael Jennings can get a shot at Miguel Cotto then it's only a matter of time before Floyd calls Bradley.

Would be quite amusing if floyd announces his September opponent as Bradley. Then on the night its mr pryce that turns up instead of Tim.

Re: Kell Brook vs.......
It's just been announced that Shawn Porter will fight Paulie Malignaggi to defend his IBF title, and after that Brook is supposedly guaranteed the winner - according to this article in The Ring
I see Porter edging Paulie in a close fight, but both are very winnable fights for Brook. Apparently he'll be guaranteed his shot by July 19th. Lets hope so.

Id probably bet £100 on a Paulie UD over Kell.
He would box his ears off all night and make him realise he isn't anywhere near world level

I'd back Brook over Paulie. Brook v Porter would be a much tighter fight, could go either way.

Re: Kell Brook vs.......
Porter vs Malignaggi is a pick 'em for me. I think they're both tough fights for Brook. But, that said, we really have no real notion of where Brook stands on a world level. It'll be nice to finally find out. This will be a good barometer. Part of me thinks Malignaggi/Porter/Alexander/Maidana/Ortiz/Collazo/etc might be his level, and that he'd win some, lose some from that crowd. Looking forward to seeing if he is in any way 'special'.

If that fight is made I want you to put up evidence that you have bet that, I will happily put on £100 for Brook to win no problem.

Re: Kell Brook vs.......
No interest in Kell Brook until he steps up whatsoever.
He's been unlucky but now starting to think he is content at this level and doesn't push for the bigger fights like he says. Harsh criticism but he's wasting his career.

Re: Kell Brook vs.......
Malignaggi to upset Porter and win the title.
Malignaggi calls out Mayweather.
Malignaggi comes second in a two man poll with Amir Khan and lands the Mayweather fight. Vacates title.
Brook fights Hector Ramirez Lopez (15-11-2) for the vacant title and fulfills his world title dreams.
It WILL happen

To be fair, I'd pay $49.95 to watch the build up to Paulie vs Floyd alone!!!!!
