Robert Guerrero vs Amir Khan
A few outlets are reporting the Ghost will fight Khan on the Mayweather-Maidana undercard.
Guerrero would be coming off a 12 month hiatus. Khan a near 13 month hiatus.
Guerrero wins by UD for me.
Technically superior to Khan. And just a better fighter.

He also hits fairly hard which could be a downfall for Khan.
Very interesting fight to gauge what Khan has left in the tank.
Based on his last couple of fights, Guerrero by UD or LKO.
However, if Khan can utilise his talents then he should cruise to a UD.....but i just don't think he can....which is a crying shame.
(on a side note, I fail to see how Guerrero is technically better than Khan who is one of the quickest and most technically gifted fighters in the game today. He is let down by his chin and his heart)

Better fighter? Yes. Better boxer? No.
Guerrero is a good solid fighter, he isn't quick and would have to pressure Khan for twelve rounds. Wouldn't mind seeing that fight at all.

Good fight for Khan, tends to deal easily/comfortably with boxers so I'd expect him to win and win well.
Never thought RG was that special.
No surprises Gerry is blowing smoke up the Mexican heritage fighter tho.....

Guerrero my favourite boxer, and obviously I'll back him to beat anyone. I even backed him to beat FMjr.TopHat24/7 wrote:Good fight for Khan, tends to deal easily/comfortably with boxers so I'd expect him to win and win well.

As for Guerrero being not being 'special', the a Mayweather camp rate him highly. That's more than good enough.

Re: Robert Guerrero vs Amir Khan
The mayweather camp regard him as an easy payday - which he proved to be just like Alvarez. Except that Alvarez is pretty good at light middleweight and Guerrero was better at the lower weight.
Re: Robert Guerrero vs Amir Khan
They also rate Maidana highly....and Khan beat him handily apart from a hairy moment in the tenth.
Sorry, but Guerrero is a good fighter, but certainly isn't "special" by any stretch.
His record doesn't scream world beater with victories over Berto and Aydin....katsidis etc
Decent fighter but lets not over do it. Khan has fought better fighters.

Khan's fought better fighters...and lost. Peterson SD and Garcia KOmobilemaster8 wrote:They also rate Maidana highly....and Khan beat him handily apart from a hairy moment in the tenth.

No point fighting better fighters if you can't the W.

Peterson was a proven drug cheat, and with the controversy, is lucky to have a win in general.
Id also say Maidana and Malignaggi beat The Ghost.....

Re: Robert Guerrero vs Amir Khan
If Guerrero can get close to him it'll be along night for Khan as Khan just can't fight on the inside whereas Guerrero is a fine brawler, and his body attack is very good
Tough fight to call, yet to see if khan can take the pressure off a guy like guerrero, and if berto and aydin can't drop him then i doubt khan can
Tough fight, good fight, slightly edge it to guerrero

I don't see how you can question Khan's heart, he's never looked like quitting even when he can barely make it to his feet, just watch the Prescott fight. Also his speed covers up some very bad technical flaws so yes I'd agree Guerrero is a better technical fighter. Khan can't fight on the inside whatsoever and leaves himself open too often. Guerrero should win with something to spare, very intelligent fighter whereas Khan has the same ring IQ as a post. He'd survive an early Khan onslaught before catching up to him through the mid and late rounds. He looked bad against Floyd but everyone does.

Think he meant Khan has more guts than sense.
Re: Robert Guerrero vs Amir Khan
That's exactly what i meant Shah.
He is to gutsy for his own goof thanks to the media.
If he kept to his game plan and not got into wars, he would be so much better.

Re: Robert Guerrero vs Amir Khan
I see this like WHU. Guerrero is a good all round fighter. He's well capable of applying the pressure that everyone knows is khan's Achilles heel. Khan will outbox him early on, but will struggle to keep him off as the fight progresses.
Good fight though, and brave choice for khan if he takes it.

Re: Robert Guerrero vs Amir Khan
I rated Guerrero highly and still do...Very good boxer who lost the big one...Punch perfect against Katsidis...
Maybe not big enough for 147 but an awkward southpaw...However Khan has a top jab and will be bigger and quicker...
As with all Khan fights If he boxes he wins but my guess is he'll end up brain-fading but will he take Robert's 147 shot when he does ??
I'll say yes...Khan W12

Has RG ever really been known for his pop?
He's a tough SOB, so I wouldn't expect Khan to stop him, but I just checked and his ko ratio is down at 50% and he hasn't stopped anyone since his SFW days.
Ergo, I agree with Truss' analysis and prediction.

I think Khan would be in trouble with this one, Guerrero is an awkward southpaw with fast hands and good jab and good skills.
He can also punch...

The way he came forward at Berto relentlessly and wasn't fazed by anything that was thrown at him is a big worry sign for Khan. Tough as boots Guerrero with genuine skills combined.

Re: Robert Guerrero vs Amir Khan
You dont need huge power to beat Khan, Khan reminds me of Bruno in that his gameplan, common sense and his stability go out the window once hes buzzed. Its this that leads to his defeats. However what does go for Khan is that he has got superb boxing ability. Great speed, accuracy and a decent repertoire of punches. He can outbox Guererro.
I see Khan leading on points and Guerrero coming on very strong from 9-12 if Khan can keep his cool and not get buzzed to often, He should take this, but if he doesnt Guerrero has got the instinct to close the show.
Khan's fights are so intriguing as at any point Khan could go to pieces.

By 'punch' do you mean simply throw one or actually hit hard?
Because as per my previous post, I'm still not sure what's predicated this myth.

Re: Robert Guerrero vs Amir Khan
Maidana slapped a former LW all round the ring but couldn't drop Khan.
Think the amount of power required do damage him is being understated, and the amount RG holds overstated.

Re: Robert Guerrero vs Amir Khan
Two aspects to khan's defensive frailties... Chin and susceptibility to pressure fighters he can't keep at distance.
Is Guerrero likely to spark him with one punch? Possible, but less likely.
Is Guerrero likely to do a Peterson and grind him down? Far more likely I'd say.
Don't get me wrong, if amir can turn back the clock he can win, but recent form suggests a hard night for him.
