Ian Robertson noted that England became the first team to accumulate 2,000 points in the Six Nations.

We had 1,923 at the end of the last tournament. Including the Ireland match, we had added 57 to take our total to 1,980, so today's tally of 29 puts us on 2,009. I think the other teams have racked up the following to date (we're up to 74 matches apiece).

France - 1,879
Ireland - 1,811
Wales  - 1,620
Scotland - 1,180
Italy - 1.072

It probably helps that England had one of the strongest teams ever seen in the tournament when Italy were still debutants. Then again, Woodward's side put some big scores against other opposition too (while not always translating that to titles).

2000 is a case in point.

Narrow win over France, but winning margins of 32, 34 and 47 points respectively against Ireland, Wales and Italy saw England face Scotland, who had lost all 4, seeking a Grand Slam. Of course Scotland won.

2001 - Winning margins of 29, 57, 40 & 39 during the spring against Wales, Italy, Scotland and France. Defeat in the Autumn to Ireland.
