How the times have changed
First topic message reminder :
Well after taking things into account from over the weekend I just want to talk about the Stuart Hogg incident, I am sorry if it has already been debated to death, but what I want to point out is that about fifteen to twenty years ago that type of challenge would have been par for the course so to speak, now before I get a tattering off people on here, I do not condone it and for me the right call was made by the officials, but I remember rugby always having sinister moments, Christ, I even remember watching a Pontypridd V Cardiff game at Sardis where an eighty year old man wanted to run on the field and hit Mark Ring for something he done that the ref did not see and the crowd were seething all game, I just wanted to point out how things have changed from the days when you could give somebody a good roughing up to put him off his game, without the video ref Hogg would not have got a red card on Saturday, and Biggar could well have had his mind else where for the rest of the game, now we are seeing more and more things that go on with all the different camera angles and the what not, although things like try or no try are seeming to be working and the fact that they could use the TMO to send Hogg off does anybody think it has taken something out of the game ? For me it has a little, but since professionalism and the players being more athletic I suppose this can only be seen as a good thing because it deters foul play, but perhaps I am just an old romantic of the game.

2 refs get the correct decision. Some people disagree. You think one set is deplorable and not the other. Pretty much sums it up. Reasons differ for some people (ie they would have liked Rolland to compound errors while some thought it wasn't red) . Guess I was just interested why you disliked one set questioning the decision and not another.

If you cannot differentiate I am genuinely sorry for you.I tried to clarify for you but I fell short of requirements.
Be happy.

Ok since none of you can even be bothered to read the discussions your discussing and because this has become a bit repetitive Ill chuck this in:
It can be correct and consitent to call some tip tackles a penalty, some a yellow, and others red.
Have fun.

I can't see the difference. In my eyes someone has as much right to question the Hogg decision as the decision against Warburton.

The difference here is the offence was against Wales, mtherefor any offence warrants a red card and any suggestion that it could have been otherwise is. Transgression agaist the human race.
We call it double standards, others calls it the way it is.

I think Hogg had been watching Jannes Labuschagne.

Re: How the times have changed
I thought the Warburton one was good, it kept the game tight and emotional and has created an historical moment we all still talk about today. It was almost as good as the ref deciding that kick didnt go over in the pool stages, again created a moment of high drama and ensured the better team won.

Not a useful generalisation, Bilt. Hoggy is friends with my sister and even she thought it should have been red.Biltong wrote:No 7&1/2 wrote:I can't see the difference. In my eyes someone has as much right to question the Hogg decision as the decision against Warburton.

I disagree. It was a half hearted hit, my sister can hit harder than Hogg.

Re: How the times have changed
Will there be neutral refs on the SA tour, just hoping that we can get plenty of reds from the Saffas ill discipline and disregard for the laws while they are calling it the way it is.
