England's Best T20 Team
What should it be for the World T20?
The selectors don't seem to know, so lets help them.
Mine:
Hales
Lumb
Bell
Morgan
Bopara
Buttler
Wright
Jordan
Tredwell
Broad
Parry

Re: England's Best T20 Team
Ian Bell who hasn't played a T20 game for over three years?
I'd swap him for Woakes, put Bopara up to 3 then Buttler to 5, Wright at 6, then Woakes/Jordan 7/8

To much pace there for me. I might have Ali for Bell. I picked Bell, as our batting is very inconsistent, and he may give it some steel.

Re: England's Best T20 Team
Ali I knew I was missing someone at the top of the order from the recent ODI's!
Yes Ali for Bell for me. Otherwise I agree with the side
Don't get why they've called Bell up, hasn't played a T20 for donkeys years, and wasn't part of the original 30 man squad. Ballance must be wondering what he's done wrong

I think the above with Ali for Wright. I don't mind the idea of Bell coming back into T20 - you do need some class in the batting lineup, look how effective Sangakarra is in T20. And he would be replacing Wright who just closes his eyes and tries to slog everything, and is a walking wicket for 90% of spinners.

Warwickshire connection?
Now he's there, he could be worth using.

Re: England's Best T20 Team
Think I agree with Stella here : Bell , despite t20 not being his natural home , has a touch of class that is rather lacking in the rest of the lineup. I don't think he will dominate , but he might give them some badly needed stuffing.
Ali for Wright ? Some useful extra spin ... I truth I would like Wright in there , because if he does come off his hitting is explosive . But he can't buy a run lately , so I'd be inclined to play Bell and Ali at least at first. Look again after the NZ game .

Re: England's Best T20 Team
Joking aside like wright is horrendous. Ok with stokes out his bowling becomes a consideration, but no more than Alis perhaps.
Really with root and stokes out its pretty much impossible to square the balance of this side to give the captain bowling options whilst retaining some kind of batting.
Party I'm not really convinced by at all, but is there a seamer worth bringing in for him?
Bell I'm onboard with. I think England lack a proper batsman, the slapped just havent been delivering. The issue is finding a place in the side for him

Re: England's Best T20 Team
Wrights out injured now which leaves
SCJ Broad*, EJG Morgan, MM Ali, IR Bell, RS Bopara, TT Bresnan, JC Buttler†, JW Dernbach, AD Hales, CJ Jordan, C Kieswetter, MJ Lumb, SD Parry, JC Tredwell, CR Woakes
Broad semi fit, Bell hasnt batted in any of the warm up games and not played a cap game since 2011
Hales, Lumb, Ali, Morgan, Bopara, Buttler, Broad, Jordan, Tredwell all get a free pass into the side through lack of choice.
Question then is can they fill the last 2 spots with a bowler and bell/keisweter or is a 5 man attack plus Ali too little options given a while back they were picking 9 bowlers. I would be happy with Bopara as a front line bowler, his figures are as good as any other England players except Broad. Which says a lot about englands specialist bowlers in this format I guess.

No Ian bell.
The best 3 would be root but he is injured.
I would push mogs to 3 and bop to 4

Re: England's Best T20 Team
I would play Bell. Class can make up for a lot...useful if early wickets go down. In truth unless Lumb/Hales and later Morgan/Buttler fire they're probably road kill anyway ; but I'd sooner Bell than an extra bowler who would just distract the leadership group from the game plan...
At least he adds to the fielding.
Bowlers Broad , Jordan(I hope !) , two spinners plus Bopara. And Ali to bowl a couple for flexibility . Anyone disagree that is preferable to picking Dernbach ?

Hmm. All this dew is causing me to rethink my team...
Might need another fast bowler. Please not Dernbach

Re: England's Best T20 Team
The non Bell option would be to pick Woakes I guess. The problem with two spinners is neither deserves a place in the side. For the love of god no Dernbach no matter what
I suspect this will prove to quite literally be a no win selection
