Re: any decent RPG recommendations
I actually thought the RPG's on offer for the last generation consoles were a bit feeble on the whole. Which was a great shame as I'm a massive CRPG and JRPG fan.
Essentially for the Xbox its better RPG's were near its front end and has been a bit weak otherwise in its later life. If you're will willing to play older games now in their 5/6th year then I'd recommend.
Resonance of Fate
Star Ocean: The Last Hope
Infinite Undiscovery
Tales of Vesperia
Eternal Sonata
ES: OBlivion (Better than Skyrim, though not as good as Morrowind)
If you are looking for something more recent then Tale of Xillia should be up your street. If you're looking for something a little different then the new South Park game is worth a look and if you want that little added difficulty then Dark Souls.
There will be a few games I'll have forgotten no doubt but I'll add them later if I remember

Cheers brys
Dont mind playing older games, really enjoyed lost odyssey which was older. completed obilivion meant to put that in the list with skyrim.
funnily enough ive been looking at most of the ones you mentioned, ive got eternal sonata but not gave it a whirl yet. What would you say was the best out of the ones you mentioned?
Not sure if my anger issues will allow me to play dark souls

Personally my favourite of them all was Resonance of Fate, if only for the combat system and an interesting tetris like progression map system. Eternal Sonata is a very good game though and combines a unique world with a decent story. Tales of "Series" is the third biggest RPG series in Japan alongside FF and Dragonquest, so are always worth a play.
If I had to recommend one though it would be Resonance of Fate which was probably my second favourite of the lesser know RPGS (sadly my favourite Valkyria Chronicles was a PS3 release only).

Don't rule out the Mass Effect series either. It's sci-fi rather than fantasy but the role-playing elements are fun and I love the combat. Amazing storyline too.

Re: any decent RPG recommendations
ive started eternal sonata seeing though i already had it, all seems a bit easy at the moment and quite repetitive (same baddies very often in a level and the maps are very similar). the cut scenes are fairly childish and poorly scripted, suppose its to be expected to a certain point going back on older games, although something like dragon age was only a year after this
seems like a stinging criticism, but im not minding it. just hasn't got me gripped yet

I do know what you mean with Eternal Sonata, it never had me fully gripped at any point. I can't deny its a good solid game as far as an RPG goes but where the characters and story is concerned I did always feel it would be a personal taste type of game.

The Final Fantasy X reboot has just come out, my favourite game of all time. One of the best games ever in that genre and I'd recommend

Child of Light came out yesterday, it's meant to be a cross between Rayman and Final Fantasy, which I wouldn't mind getting a go on. Anyone played it?

Anyone seen the videos/trailer for the new Call of Duty - Advanced Warfare? Only saw bits of it but looks good, kind of reminded me of Halo parts of it.

Yes I've got it, it's a beautiful looking game and plays nice as well. Very old school FF combat wise.
