UNDISPUTED CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT - with FANTASY MATCHUPS
FANTASY UNDISPUTED CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT
In a world where boxing was managed like UFC, no politics, no TV or promotional conflicts and no fighters ducking with the goal to find one fighter to hold all the belts.
The year is 2014, a 13 month long 8-man divisional boxing knockout tournament to find out who is currently the best fighter in each division with the winner becomes the undisputed champion of the world.
This would induce some mouthwatering dream match ups with plenty of entertainment and even some shocks with the best of the young rising prospects. In just over a year’s time, we would have all the answers to all of our questions! All the pieces in the jigsaw puzzle fits in nicely.
Concluding at the end of the year following into January 2015, a champion of champions catch-weight follow up to find out who are the best pound for pound fighters in the world.
The 8 fighters are chosen for this tournament are based on current form, the best rising prospects and talent, the best entertainers in the game and the fighters with the largest fan base.
Note - All the 4 major belt holders must be included in the tournament (unfortunately this includes Arthur Abraham).
The winners would fight a maximum of 4 fights in the 13 month tournament.
Here are my random match making thoughts together with my predictions for continuous classic matches. I am only familiar with the 12 weight categories from Heavyweight down to Super Bantamweight.
Ah if only!

Jesus that was some read! Fair play mate. Good bit of fun. Some suprise expected results too. I do think Mares simply had a bad night and got caught cold. I'd expect him to stay out of range and win the rematch.
top job though!

Re: UNDISPUTED CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT - with FANTASY MATCHUPS
Thanks guys, if only there was a way to make something like this a reality. Such a shame that there isn't an official governing body like Tennis and Football.
So much politics and corruption is ruining the sport we love.
A tournament such as the above makes one realise how many potential current match ups we will miss out on!

Re: UNDISPUTED CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT - with FANTASY MATCHUPS
Not a bad way to introduce yourself, mate. Welcome aboard - good read.
I was always amazed when people found time to moan and complain about the Showtime Super Six tournament for the 168 pounders. It was one of the best things to happen to boxing in a long time and underlined what it should all be about. A few more tournaments / series of that nature would be great right now as well. The potential catchweight fights have some real mouth watering ones as well.
Oddly enough, although it's a division which always gets a lot of stick, Cruiserweight might be the most fun and enjoyable of them all from a spectator point of view. Rematches between guys like Lebedev and Huck, Cleverly and Bellew and also Jones and Lebedev (which is happening in any case) would all be worth watching as the first ones were all either exciting or contentious, and then there's Hernandez, who many think has the beating of them all, but who needs to step up a level and try to unify to prove it.
One thing I would say for the 200 pounders is that I'd take old man Tarver out and replace him with Mchunu, who looked pretty classy in beating Chambers. He's very slick for a Cruiser and his different style, as well as the fact that he'd have a bit of a mystery man / wildcard appeal about him due to his lack of world title experience so far, means he'd add to the mix really well.

Mchunu is an awesome dude. I'd back him to box the ears off anyone in the CW division. Could do with a better trainer, I'd say, how he's gotten this far with a boxercise instructor is beyond me. Only 5'9 as well, but built like a shiithouse
