WWE drop the term "PPV"
Completely unimportant news to some, but to me it's just another one of those funny things WWE does that I'm sure you will all begin to notice. Smackdown saw WWE bill the Extreme Rules event as an Extreme Rules Special.
Per reports, WWE will now use the term Special Event to describe what were once PPVs.
Interesting? Probably not, just another one of those things WWE do. Sports Entertainment and its Superstars will not put on a WWE PPV again if things go to plan.

I have noticed however that "wrestling" and its variations seem to have crept back in a bit. Even the commentators say it sometimes.

Noticed this at Wrestlemania as well. Guessing it's a subliminal way of driving people to pay for the WWE network rather than going down the traditional route of ordering Pay-per-views.

Its not a PPV if you pay a subscription. Agree with NP. Subliminal trickery.

To be fair, they're not really pay-per-views any more if they are part of a general subscription package.

If anyone cares the Extreme Rules Special will be live on Sky Box Office.

Obviously it makes sense, just seemed interesting. Ne'er mind, go back to discussing your dirtsheet rumours you slumdogs!

Funnily enough, they've dropped the term on air but are still using it on their website for information to viewers on where they can watch upcoming PPVs.
The story goes on!

I wonder if Sky will continue to show WWE once the Network lands over here.

I'm pretty sure the new Sky/WWE deal which takes place from the start of next year will mean that all PPV/Special Events will be shown on Sky Box Office.

Re: WWE drop the term "PPV"
Yeah, it will also depend I imagine on how similar the two Networks are. The UK Netflix and US Netflix have different content and I wouldn't be surprised if the same is true of the two WWE Networks, so it's no inconceivable that WWE could come to a compromise with Sky.

Re: WWE drop the term "PPV"
Sky recently signed a new deal with WWE. Unfortunately the new deal means ALL PPV's will be on Box Office. Think it starts from 2015.
