Who Will Be The Next Chelsea Manager?
Chelsea Manager Odds
These are the odds for the next Chelsea manager as per Skybet... where would you guys put your 50p?
I would say that van Gaal would be a good shot at those odds. He is an experienced manager and very adept at bringing young players into teams. There could be some fireworks between him and Roman though!

Re: Chelsea Manager Odds
If any of them have sense they will stay away. Realistically you need 1 trophy a year to survive in Chelsea. No manager is capable of that in the Premiership.
Re: Chelsea Manager Odds
I'd like to see Martin O'Neill given a chance at a top Premiership club after what he's done with Leicester, Villa and especially Celtic. Think he's one of the best man managers in football along with Redknapp and would get the best out of Torres and co.and tactically astute so he could be the man to finally win the Champions League. Surprised to see Mourinho at such short odds as have a feeling only english clubs he would go to would be Man United if or when Ferguson retires or Man City if he's offered an obscene amount of money to spend and why would he return to a club that sacked him?

Re: Chelsea Manager Odds
I agree red_stag, they have an appaling record with managers and their impatience is counter productive.
They sacked Mourinho after 2 titles and numerous cups, sacked Scolari mid-season and now have ditched Ancelotti after winning them the double!
Van Basten seems the favourite - but I don't think it'll work. He left Ajax swiftly after poor results and never set the world alight with the Netherlands.

Re: Chelsea Manager Odds
van Basten to act as the puppet work under Hiddink, is the option I think we may see.
Cannot see why Villas-Boas, an untested manager who hasn't had a proper go at Europe, would leave Porto currently. Plus he's far too expensive, even for Chelsea.

The van Basten/Hiddink collaboration will be the one that happens imo. Villas-Boas needs more time with Porto.

Don't bet on Van Gaal. Hiddink has an advisory role at Chelsea and Van Gaal and Hiddink do not get along at all. So I'd rule him out. In all honesty, I don't know who will become Chelsea manager but if I were a betting man I'd put money on the Porto Manager, Andre Villas Boas.

Re: Chelsea Manager Odds
I know Romans rich, but do people really expect him to pay out 15m EUR on a manager who is largely unproven on the larger scale? Okay, an unbeaten season is quite an achievement but let's see how his side fairs in the Champions League this season and then I think he could be off to somewhere better.

Have to disagree braveheart. There is no doubt he done an incredible job with Leicester but Villa was probably his limit. He also tends to stick with the same core of 14/15 players for the entire duration of a season, regardless of form, which more often than not sees his team drop off in the last three months of a premier league campaign.
My opinion is that if Chelsea want a "head coach" then they should go for someone like Gus Poyet because lets be honest the term "manager" at Chelsea is in effect head coach. The chosen man will have little or no say in transfer policy or even the picking of his backroom staff so they might as well select a tracksuit wearer and be done with it!

Re: Chelsea Manager Odds
Do you not think thats because the likes of Leicester and Villa didnt have a big enough squad for O'Neill to use more than 15 players each season whereas at Chelsea he could rotate the squad alot more.FreekShow wrote:Have to disagree braveheart. The Leicester squad yes but his Villa squad was pretty deep.

Re: Chelsea Manager Odds
Harry Redknapp is now favourite with the bookies due to a lot of bets taken

Re: Chelsea Manager Odds
I still think Benitez will be doing his best to worm his way in, firstly he’s available, he has won a Champion’s League which will appeal to Roman and he’s worked with Torres. The fact that he’s Spanish as well will hold them in good stead to get Spanish speaking players (Aguero for example).
Re: Chelsea Manager Odds
Not Benitez, please! Hiddink would be my favourite from that list, got chelsea playing some fine football last time, and let's not forget should have got them to the CL final (at least). Can't see Mourinho and Roman getting back together, though wouldn't mind it. Villa-Boas is still far too unproven to manage such a big club. Redknapp, why not? wouldn't mind.

I think Harry Redknapp will get it. I think Abramovich might try a British coach this time his last 3 have been foreigners and he might try something different.

Chelsea will apparently have to pay £15million to get Redknapp
