Welcome to Season 6 of the Aviva Premiership fantasy rugby game. Below are the rules of the game which must be adhered to. If there are any situations that arise in the course of the game which are not covered by the rules, a final decision will be made by the RFU (SJE) as to how the situation will be resolved.
Senior Squads wrote:
The maximum squad size is 40 senior players. If a team has more than 40 players in their squad then they will be fined £1 million per player over the permitted amounts per day for the first seven days. If after 7 consecutive days a team still has more than the permitted number of players then the team will be fined £2 million per player per day, and fined 1 league point per player per day for the next seven days. If after this time a team still has more than the permitted number of players in their squad, the RFU (me) will remove players at its discretion to bring them back under the permitted numbers. There will be no right of appeal to players being removed.
Be aware that all tier one international matches which are played during the season will count in the game, and players selected in the match day 23's for those matches will not be eligible to play for their clubs on that weekend, therefore you must give due consideration to the make-up of your squad.
Academy Rules wrote:
Each team will be allowed to have an academy squad of 20 players. Players who are in the academy must be born on or after 1st September 1991.
Any player, who is at any Premiership club in real life, either in their senior, academy or AASE squads, can be bid for on the domestic bidding page. Players who are at your own club in real life and are coming through the academy system must be bid for if you want them in your own academy.
Transfers wrote:
- Domestic (other AP Teams)
Each team has a budget to use in the purchase of players. Domestic transfers between AP clubs, regardless of nationality of player, should be negotiated between the respective managers, and then confirmed on the Domestic Transfer Confirmation Page.- Domestic (Championship and below)
Each team may during the season purchase no more than 5 players from the Championship or the National Leagues. These players must be bid for on the Domestic Transfer Bidding page, and each bid will be considered by me on its own merits before being accepted or rejected. No bid will be accepted until a minimum of 24 hours has elapsed from the time the bid was made, in order to afford other managers the opportunity to make a counter bid.- Foreign
To make a foreign transfer (i.e. from any club outside of the AP, regardless of whether the player is English) a bid should be made on the Foreign Transfers Page, which will be considered by me against the posted guidelines for purchase prices before being accepted or rejected. No bid will be accepted until a minimum of 24 hours has elapsed from the time the bid was made, in order to afford other managers the opportunity to make a counter bid.
There will be a summer foreign transfer window, which will run as follows.
Structured Window
No cash will be used and each team will get effectively free transfers by way of a draft, which will run 12th, 11th, 10th …… 1st, 12th, 11th,10th… 1st place side. This will run from 10th June 2013 until all teams have had their two picks.
Open Window
Open transfer window, teams have unlimited bids provided they have the financial resources to cover them. Teams may only bid for one player at a time.
Player Releases wrote:
Managers may choose to release players from their clubs, for which they will be offered compensation
Compensation will be paid as follows
£2 million – current international (must have played international rugby in the previous 12 months)
£1.5 million – former international
£1m – top flight experience
£0.5m – other
All released players will be deemed to have joined a Championship side and can be bid for on the Domestic Transfer Bidding page.
Retirements wrote:
There will be no compensation for retiring players. Should a player who retires decide to come out of retirement and play again, then he will automatically go back to the club who he was playing for in the game when he retired.
Fixtures wrote:
There will be 22 Aviva Premiership games per season, plus the play offs. There will also be Heineken Cup, Amlin Challenge Cup and Anglo Welsh Cup matches. These games will take place once a week. A match thread will be put up every Monday. Home teams must be named by midnight on Tuesday. Away teams must be named by midnight on Wednesday. Both teams must provide tactics by midnight on Thursday. Predictions will be open from 00:01 hours on Friday and remain open until 20:00 hours on Saturday. Managers will post the scores that they think will happen from these games (apart from games in which they are involved). An average of all predictions will be taken, and then 0.5 points added to each teams score for each prediction that had them as the winner, and that will then be the final score.
Managers are asked to provide detail as to why they have predicted a result. To be considered a descriptive prediction this must be a full 3 lines long when entered into the text box. If you are not providing a descriptive prediction you will be restricted to predicting a 1 point win either way.
Teams wrote:
When naming your team, not only should you put the starting XV and replacements, but also tactics that your team will employ. Results will be affected by the tactics described.
In addition, each team must have the following:-
At least 10 England qualified players in your match day 23, and at least 4 of those must be in your starting XV.
At least 2 props and 1 hooker on the bench.
All players must be eligible (not injured or banned).
Failure to comply with these rules will result in forfeiting the match and a 1 league point deduction.
If you fail to submit a team for a match, then the other team will be automatically awarded a 30-0 bonus point win. If both teams fail to submit a team, then it will be scored as a 0-0 draw.
Injuries and Suspensions wrote:
Injuries in this game do NOT reflect real life, they will be generated by me.
Players banned in real life will be ineligible for selection in this game for the duration of the ban.
Inclusion of injured/banned players will result in them being replaced by players on the bench, and the bench not having eight players, which may result in punishment if it concerns the front-row.
Punishment for fielding an ineligible player will be loss of one match point for a first offence, two for a second offence and so on.
Financial Rewards wrote:
There will be no rewards for the result of an individual match, instead the managers will receive cash for predicting.
£2m for descriptive predictions
£0.25m for scores on the doors predictions
If you fail to predict without first advising me that you are unable to do so that week, you will be fined £1m for a first offence, £2m for a second offence, £3m for a third offence etc.

Steffan is no 8 for me.
Watched him yesterday and he was outstanding but played more as 7. Lobbe did a lot of the traditional 8 stuff defensively and reading the game.
That backrow yesterday was superb. Safe to say Juan smith is
Back to full fitness. He was immense yesterday. Like watching him years ago.
That back 5 yesterday is world class in every facet

Agree about Steffon, it's more a number with him.
That was easily Smiths best game since coming back. Still not convinced with him though

Not convinced despite him being outstanding in a European final ? No higher level to prove yourself. That was physically far more brutal than any super rugby game. Roussow got through a workload also.
Always been a huge giteau fan and having the 2 axis to play off really challenges defences and took sarries defence out of the game.
Not sure how you best Toulon. Seriously impressive outfit. Think they would beat most international sides

I said it was his best game, he's been pretty average prior. You can tell this by nobody challenging you when you bought him and him being released.
See how he goes next season I reckon.

Only seen him in Europe where he has gone well. Heard he has been steady in top 14 from chaps on here.
Obviously fully fit now as displayed yesterday. No substitute for games under the belt.
Re watched the game and seriously powerful performance

Best TH around?
He'll be on reduced wages probably with AP the only league he can play in (I think). Career threatening apparently, have to see how he goes.

For me best th in world by a distance. Like corbs his issue is staying fit. Corbs and Figallo would be my top props in world but the caveat is " when fit" he was Voted best th at World Cup and destroyed all the tri nations teams in the RC.
It's a weird thing with the insurance In France. He has same problem as Cole,
Says he is fit now. Always a worry with necks and props

Have to agree to disagree on Figallo, never rated him in that league personally. Solid TH though, better than Mas for you these days.

I've read rumours of Hook signing for the Rebels in Super Rugby. I think he might be slightly more tempted with that offer. Depends if he thinks he can get back into the Wales set up

Mas has been great over years, struggled in T14 and 6N this season. I never said I don't rate Figallo, I said I don't think he's "best about by some distance".
I rate loads of your players not that it matters as I don't predict on your games.
Etzebeth, Alberts, Folau are arguably best about in their respective positions. Folau especially is unreal

Personally prefer dagg to folau as a 15 as he has a kicking game
So can play any conditions.
Folau is a real X factor player. Love watching him. Him and Beale have a great understanding

Dagg generally loses his rating a little during Super season I think. Usually brings it back during Ints though.

Dont think we agreed terms. We are after one more back but seems like you are now favourites. He would do well for us at 12 with sheridan outside him or even at full back as without JOC we are stuck with the ginger ninja homer.

Have it on good authority that it's a straight shoot out between us and wasps.
Not heard anything about wasps being in for him. To be fair hooks agent seems to be offering him everywhere

Wasps would be a good move if they kept him in one position. But could see him being swapped and chopped around at 10 and 12

Re: Season 6 Homepage V
With Morne steyn second choice at stade and having a car crash season and the excellent lambie injured goosen probably there only option.
He has been getting better each week since comeback and was fantastic against the brumbies the week before but was poor this week.
Cheetahs not been great all year. Never put the same side out 2 weeks running.
I like mallet. He has a reputation as being very off the wall and is not respected by many in South Africa. They see him as a loud mouth rent a quote type character who has never achieved anything. Read his autobiography and he is obsessed with how he deserves to be respected more in his own country.
Personally always thought he was a good coach.
That said he was responsible for the bergamasco at 9 affair.

Steyn isn't 2nd choice at Stade.
Goosen has been awful this season, shows you how injury can affect a player. I remember you saying he was better than Cruden!

He was better than cruden when he was fully fit IMO.
Think he will be show this if he stays fit.
Also playing behind a Bok pack with a decent 9 will make him a different player
Cruden will be 3rd choice come WC. In my view Barrett is streets ahead already.
Barrett was fantastic Saturday
Steyn is very much second choice at stade
"The former Bulls man may now be based in France, playing at Stade Francais, but he has the most experience of all the available No 10s and is the incumbent.
The only problem is the 29-year-old isn’t the first choice at his French club. He’s been playing second fiddle to French prodigy Jules Plisson this season and has started only nine times in his 25 appearances in the Top 14.

Well done on winning the HC Luke, great team you've put together there.
Guys I'm after some new props and half backs - who has who available?

Re: Season 6 Homepage V
I think we've all been guilty of bigging up our own players - if we went through all my posts I am sure it would reveal a load about my man crushes on players (could be multiple).
I know that we used to have a lot of falling outs and that isn't anywhere near as bad as it was, though if you keep finding articles about Mat's players and getting criticisms in then we all know it will eventually get a reaction.
Personally don't see the need for it, we're all adults and should be able to do without the petty jibes that try and get a reaction. Sure everyone would appreciate it too!

To be fair this is all getting beyond a joke now.
Your both as bad as each other at times , It's a pain in backside having to troll through countless personal jibes , player slating and frequent cowpat.
Can we all start acting like grown ups at some point?

Stuart Lancaster has named seven uncapped players in his initial 30-man squad for the three-Test, four-game tour to New Zealand this June.
Worcester Warriors full back Chris Pennell and three new hookers – Harlequins duo Dave Ward and Joe Gray and Exeter Chiefs’ Luke Cowan Dickie – are among the players who will be available for the first Test against the All Blacks in Auckland on June 7.
Newcastle Falcons tight-head prop Kieran Brookes, Leicester Tigers lock Ed Slater and Gloucester Rugby centre Henry Trinder complete new faces, with Sale Sharks fly half Danny Cipriani in line for a first appearance for England since 2008.
Hooker Rob Webber and centre Billy Twelvetrees have made sufficient progress with their injuries to join the first flight to New Zealand, which departs tomorrow, Tuesday, May 27. However, George Ford and Anthony Allen will not tour due to shoulder and knee injuries respectively.
Further players will fly out on Monday, June 2 following the Aviva Premiership final between Saracens and Northampton Saints (May 31) and the England XV v Barbarians match at Twickenham Stadium (June 1). Bath Rugby wing/full back Anthony Watson, who has a hamstring strain, remains in contention for the tour and a decision will be on his fitness on Monday.
Lancaster admits there have been logistical challenges in naming his squad on this occasion but is adamant his team will be “well and truly ready” for the first Test on June 7.
“We are excited about the squad we are taking to New Zealand and, while there continues to be challenges in selection, we will be well and truly ready for the First Test,” said the England Head Coach. “It has a been good few days training and great to be able to work with a larger group of players in the lead up to the Barbarians game and the tour.
“With the Barbarians game and the Aviva Premiership final to come we will make our final selection once we know the availability of all players. This group will fly out on the Monday following the Barbarians game.
“As is often the case, there are some players unavailable through injury and it is a shame that recently both George Ford and Anthony Allen have had to withdraw due to shoulder and knee injuries sustained towards the end of the season.
“Anthony Watson is being treated for a hamstring injury and will continue his recovery in England before a final decision is made on whether he will join us in New Zealand on the Monday flight post Aviva final and Barbarians game.”

These players will be named on the morning of Monday, June 2 (BST) following an assessment of both games.

Re: Season 6 Homepage V
Haskell should start ahead of Johnson, he's been so good over the last few months, even started to offload. I don't think Johnson would be physical enough against the likes of Kaina, Messam and Luatua - not bad options for NZ there really...

Re: Season 6 Homepage V
The interesting call for me is Kvesic, who in my opinion has had an absolutely gash season. Luke Wallace was excellent for Quins in the run in, albeit at 6, and I thought he might sneak in ahead, but is in the squad for the baa baas game.
I'm not going to mention Armitage either!

Re: Season 6 Homepage V
Good article by Brian Moore on Armitage situation today. He was best player (alongside Giteau) on the pitch on Saturday.

Re: Season 6 Homepage V
I like old pitbull and generally tend to agree with him, but not on this topic. If we are serious about winning the world cup, then we need to get our best team on the pitch. It would be quite difficult to argue that Steffon is not currently one of the best 4 English qualified back row forwards around, and on that basis he should be in 23.
I get the whole wanting to keep players in England thing, but it's nonsense. Do we suddenly believe that every decent English players is going to up sticks to France given half the chance? It's unlikely, and as long as players can make themselves available for all training camps then that should be sufficient. it's not like the New Zealand or Australian situations where if their players leave they are then on the other side of the world making selection more difficult. It would take less time for Steffon to get back to London for from Toulon for training than it took me to get to Cardiff on Friday night!
