Anyway Laing seems a decent punt I suppose. Had a trial at United in April, captained England at U18 level (played with Jamaal). 1 year with a further years option for us. Hopefully turfs out Collins.

Seems we're going to take a hit on Djebbour as we can't send him back, so other Greek clubs want him on the cheap. Abdoun to follow him inevitably. Like to try and get Peltier.

Beyond that a winger or two, probably youth. Dunno if Scott Sinclair is realistic, but hes available.

I seen the McCormack one and had a chuckle at that too. I'm only assuming we decided to have a WUM with Leeds :-)

I'd love to have Thorne back but can't say he's covering himself in glory with the way he's gone about it and if I owned West Brom i'd stick him in the reserves for a while to show him he isn't calling the shots.

Like you say, one for the future and players like that are always worth a punt, we did it enough and now have a decent squad Very Happy

He wants to play, can't really blame him.

Nor West Brom for setting a high price while he has value.

We'll see whether its sustainable, or like Watford.

It's the mental thing I'm worried about more than anything else, to lose would be bad enough but to lose in the last few minutes after dominating most of the game is even worse. Especially as it was a mistake for the goal

38 games in the prem season before last, 35 in the champ the season before. Still got his pace. For free, I don't reckon you'll get better value on a winger.

Meh, alright depth and apparently a good guy to have around to mentor younger player. If we were paying anything I wouldn't get it, but if hes free then meh.

Rather pay everything for McCleary tho.

Could've and perhaps should've got more, but 7m and both players this season is a good deal for a 2nd tier club in any case. Takes FFP out the equation and likely has a Lallana style clause in place.

Darlow would've gone to the WC had he been playing in the PL rather than the Championship in the last 18 months.

Cox was a good player in spurts but didnt really do enough over 2 years.

Mackie works hard but he doesn't really threaten enough going forward.

Antonios inconsistent but he has the pace we lack.

In regards to Cox and Mackie,

Isn't it just clearing out some deadwood and either making room for some new signings and/or clearing a bit of the wage bill for FFP purpose's?

I always rated Mackie at QPR when we were last in the champ (the time before last season). Very good player at that level and always gave his all, but couldn't quite cut it in the prem. Just a case of finding his level I guess.

Newcastle have done well getting them 2 from you for 7m (I reckon they'd net more if the sold them tomorrow, I think we were in at 5 for Lascelles weren't we) and i guess Forest have done OK in the end keeping the players for a year with no wages. Chances are that they'd have gone next year anyway if you don't get up so I can see why the owner wanted to do the deal that he did. Do see Pearce's point from a football perspective though, Lascelles quite a talented young focal point at the back to build round. Do the loan terms mean they have to get a certain amount of game time or are they effectively yours to do with as you wish?

Such is a fact of life with FFP, sadly those in charge of FL clubs acted like turkeys voting for christmas and handed a bigger advantage to those receiving parachute payments.

Probably could've got more, at the same time, Cardiff only got 6m for Mutch, and he has actual PL experience.
