Welcome to Season 7 of the Aviva Premiership fantasy rugby game.  Below are the rules of the game which must be adhered to.  If there are any situations that arise in the course of the game which are not covered by the rules, a final decision will be made by the RFU (SJE) as to how the situation will be resolved.

Senior Squads wrote:
The maximum squad size is 40 senior players.  If a team has more than 40 players in their squad then they will be fined £1 million per player over the permitted amounts per day for the first seven days. If after 7 consecutive days a team still has more than the permitted number of players then the team will be fined £2 million per player per day, and fined 1 league point per player per day for the next seven days. If after this time a team still has more than the permitted number of players in their squad, the RFU (SJE) will remove players at its discretion to bring them back under the permitted numbers. There will be no right of appeal to players being removed.

Be aware that all tier one international matches which are played during the season will count in the game, and players selected in the match day 23's for those matches will not be eligible to play for their clubs on that weekend, therefore you must give due consideration to the make-up of your squad.
Academy Rules wrote:
Each team will be allowed to have an academy squad of 20 players.  Players who are in the academy must be born on or after 1st September 1992.

Any player, who is at any Premiership club in real life, either in their senior, academy or AASE squads, can be bid for on the domestic bidding page. Players who are at your own club in real life and are coming through the academy system must be bid for if you want them in your own academy.
Transfers wrote:

  • Domestic (other AP Teams)
Each team has a budget to use in the purchase of players. Domestic transfers between AP clubs, regardless of nationality of player, should be negotiated between the respective managers, and then confirmed on the Domestic Transfer Confirmation Page.
  • Domestic (Championship and below)
Each team may during the season purchase no more than 5 players from the Championship or the National Leagues. These players must be bid for on the National League Bidding page, and each bid will be considered by me on its own merits before being accepted or rejected.  No bid will be accepted until a minimum of 24 hours has elapsed from the time the bid was made, in order to afford other managers the opportunity to make a counter bid.
  • Foreign
To make a foreign transfer (i.e. from any club outside of the AP, regardless of whether the player is English) a bid should be made on the Foreign Transfers Page, which will be considered by me against the posted guidelines for purchase prices before being accepted or rejected. No bid will be accepted until a minimum of 24 hours has elapsed from the time the bid was made, in order to afford other managers the opportunity to make a counter bid.

There will be a summer foreign transfer window, which will run as follows.

    Open Window

Open transfer window, teams have unlimited bids provided they have the financial resources to cover them.  Teams may only bid for one player at a time.

The window will open from the 9th of June but only to those sides that finish 8th and below at first. They will have a week to make one signing each before the window is open to all.

Player Releases wrote:
Managers may choose to release players from their clubs, for which they will be offered compensation

Compensation will be paid as follows

£2 million – current international (must have played international rugby in the previous 12 months)
£1.5 million – former international
£1m – top flight experience
£0.5m – other

All released players will be deemed to have joined a Championship side and can be bid for on the National League Bidding page.
Retirements wrote:
There will be no compensation for retiring players.  Should a player who retires decide to come out of retirement and play again, then he will automatically go back to the club who he was playing for in the game when he retired.
Fixtures wrote:
There will be 22 Aviva Premiership games per season, plus the play offs. There will also be European Rugby Champions Cup, European Rugby Challenge Cup and Anglo Welsh Cup matches.  These games will take place once a week. A match thread will be put up every Monday. Home teams must be named by midnight on Tuesday. Away teams must be named by midnight on Wednesday. Failure to meet these deadlines is punishable by the addition of three match points to the oppositions final score, unless both sides fail to do so. Both teams must provide tactics by midnight on Thursday. Predictions will be open from 00:01 hours on Friday and remain open until 15:00 hours on Sunday. Managers will post the scores that they think will happen from these games (apart from games in which they are involved).  An average of all predictions will be taken, and then 0.5 points added to each teams score for each prediction that had them as the winner, and that will then be the final score.

Managers are asked to provide detail as to why they have predicted a result.  To be considered a descriptive prediction this must be a full 3 lines long when entered into the text box.
Teams wrote:
When naming your team, not only should you put the starting XV and replacements, but also tactics that your team will employ. Results will be affected by the tactics described.

In addition, each team must have the following:-

For domestic competition at least 8 England qualified players in your match day 23, and at least 4 of those must be in your starting XV.

For European competition at least 8 England qualified players in your match day 23, and at least 6 of those must be in your starting XV.

At least 2 props and 1 hooker on the bench.

All players must be eligible (not injured or banned).

Failure to comply with these rules will result in a 1 league point deduction.

If you fail to submit a team for a match, then the other team will be automatically awarded a 30-0 bonus point win. If both teams fail to submit a team, then it will be scored as a 0-0 draw.
Injuries and Suspensions wrote:
Injuries in this game do NOT reflect real life, they will be generated by me.

Players banned in real life will be ineligible for selection in this game for the duration of the ban.

Inclusion of injured/banned players will result in them being replaced by players on the bench, and the bench not having eight players, which may result in punishment if it concerns the front-row.

Punishment for fielding an ineligible player will be loss of one match point.
Financial Rewards wrote:
There will be no rewards for the result of an individual match, instead the managers will receive cash for predicting.

£2m for descriptive predictions
£0.25m for scores on the doors predictions
If you fail to predict without first advising me that you are unable to do so that week, you will be fined £1m for a first offence, £2m for a second offence, £3m for a third offence etc upto a maximum of £5m per fine.

Twelvetrees makes far too many errors and wrong decisions.

Was obvious before the game that Tuilagi on the wing wouldn't work. Burrell is completely lost at 13, Yardes defensive position is also all over the place.

NZ are very impressive when they attack, just ooze class - Ben and Conrad Smith are top class.

Not sure how you can blame Yarde for that try. Englands defensive system has them narrow, and Yarde was where he should be in that system. With a man short they are always going to get out flanked.

Not blaming him for the try just saying I feel he is out of His depth as he has no kicking game and positioning is poor.

Watched him live for England and his positioning really stood out as poor

I would agree with Mat there, but also in this game he really hasn't been helped by Burrell at all - you can't play a club 12 at 13 against a team as good as NZ, tough enough to defend with experience there!

Wilson has really impressed me today - though he looks like he's gasping for air after 30'seconds!

We've made some big errors in this game.

Who would people have as the England team for next week? I'm sure we have the beating of them!

I don't think we changed things soon enough prop.

You see the difference playing Tuilagi at 13 made and having a winger there at the end. Great try.

Vunipola haa to start next week, we need his power and then Morgans dynamism off the bench. Would also want Lawes and Launch starting.

Did show a lot of character with the two tries at the end

That's why Ashton should be in, he finishes chances.

I thought Yarde was excellent today, not sure why he's been knocked. He's a threat everytime he gets the ball with his direct running and he can finish.

Tuilagi wing experiment didn't go fully to plan but ok, would prefer him in midfield I think.

He is knocked because of his positioning and because he can't kick. You have to have some form of kicking game to be in the back 3.

I'm with Pooly on this one.  Positionally he was where he is supposed to be in the England defensive system.  Not sure how he can be criticized for that.

For me Lancaster is responsible for that defeat today.  The selection was wrong and he was too slow to make changes when it was going wrong.  What he does for next week will tell us a lot about him.

Tuilagi didn't work at all - you need our most dangerous player with the ball in his hand.

Yarde hasn't got great positioning, Quins will sort that out though and he could become very good. Offensively I like him, but defensively he can be caught out and put teammates in trouble. See Greenwoods point about how he kicked it to Ben Smith there.

It's the silly errors that we make!

Agree to disagree. Think yarde has looked way out of his depth. Sure he can become a good international played just think he is not ready.

His positioning is all over the place and teams will prey on that with kicking.

We always set out narrow in defence and drift across, that's how we play??? Yarde kicked as well as most wings would imo. He's a class act, who's better???

Ben Smith was outstanding today by the way, I think Dagg might struggle to get back in.

He kicked ball down there throat and invited pressure. He gets too shallow then too deep it's really average positioning by him.

Stands out when you watch him live very clearly. Nothing that will not get sorted at quins but int level is not the place to learn it.

Agree pete that Lancaster selection cost us that

Both Ben smith and Aaron smith were good today. Aaron smith had a great second half and really dictated the tempo.

Backline next week has to be Care, Farrell, Yarde, Burrell, Tuilagi, Ashton, Brown.  If it isn't then Lancaster is clown.

As
Much as I don't like Lancaster he is doing a remarkable job. I would have May over Yarde or Ashton but agree with the rest of the lineup.

Would have a pack of

1 Marler
2 webber
3 Wilson
4 launch
5 lawes
6 wood
7 robshaw
8 Morgan

Disagree.  Tuilagi was never going to work, he is not a winger and never will be.

May is nowhere near Yarde for me, he's just not an Int winger yet imo. He doesn't offer a scoring threat, I don't think he's got close to scoring in his 8 or so caps, that's just not good enough at this level.

It is pretty split on here on who we would have in our wing positions. Think me SJE Steve Chris would go May but others would not.

The fact that everyone is divided on it a la that telegraph poll shows that nobody has made the jersey their own yet.

Could have completely different wings come WC. One of the only positions up for grabs

May has not showed anything to suggest he's the answer imo, he'll be a decent squad option with his versitality but he's struggled to show he's ready.

I'd like to see Wade involved at some point if he can stay fit.

For me you can't criticise May and not criticise Yarde - both still raw, both have some excellent skills but both make mistakes. May doesn't always clear lines and his errors are always magnified, but position ally he is far better than Yarde, but May's 2-3 years older isn't he?

I want Wade to come through and be given a shot, think he could really be the X factor for us - if you got Burrell and Tuilagi as 12-13 then you can get two fliers out wide.

Twelvetrees has shown that he's not the 12 for England, way to inconsistent.

I'm no Yarde fan but I thought he was good today.

His kicking desperately needs work but his defence and attack are spot on. He reminds me of a Cueto-like figure. He will always have his doubters as he doesn't have that X factor of May, Wade etc but he will do a job.

Where I disagree with you Pooly is that he is 'such a threat.' Top wingers aren't scared by Marland Yarde.

Eastmond and Tuilagi in midfield please. Burrell on the bench.

I like pape as a player been one of Frances best for a while but he has been beyond poor in the second half of season. Been like he was not interested. Could say it about a lot of French players.

Something is rotten with the French set up that's for sure.

Did not watch the France game this morning as had to do a run anyone play well? Game described as dire on planet rugby

I will use it for every glos player last year. I would also use it to describe galan's form at the end of the season. Kept coming back from injury and being dire as he is naturally a bit of a fatty and came back so unfit.

Could not play him on here he was so bad

Glos rang me 2 weeks ago to tell me my early bird offer for season tickets was going to expire if I did not renew it. I pointed out how poor we were and that we did not even have a DOR appointed and was told " to be fair everyone has said that today I can extend the offer for 4 weeks and also that even though they worked for glos rfu they were ashamed of last year".

Great honesty from glos

Falcons have give me a free hoody and season ticket for next year.

It's part of them trying to rebuild the community side of things.

Can i have some thought on what my best 15 is gents?

I'd have it pegged as

Mullen
Best
Franks
Slater
Parling
Lydiate
McCaw
Read

Laidlaw
Farrell
Jane
JDV
Bosch
Pitatau
Smith

I would agree mate. Would switch pituata and smith personally.

Think front row is only area where you could improve. laidlaw and Farrell means you have to play a more territory based game which is a shame as you have great strike runners

Score is rather surprising, I'll leave it at that.

It isn't a must watch by any means but I'm enjoying it much more than last weeks farce.

Two sides showing they can defend. France much better with Parra at 9.

Boks are smashing Wales.  It's like men against boys.

Wales are currently a very average team with some star individuals.

Super try from Cuthbert.

WLR's one weakness at present is his defence. Brilliant in every other area currently.
