Who's gonna win the WC?
Who's gonna win the WC?
So we've seen all the teams bar Russia and S. Korea. My vote goes to Germany.
Remember it's not a who do you want to win the WC poll. I think we all know which team would win that (even if it means Duty creating a thousand accounts to ensure the victory )

The best team after one game and considering the opposition have been Holland by a mile.
So, Holland at this moment.

Well, after 2 matches, Brazil certainly aren't living up to their billing as favourites. Lucky against Croatia courtesy of a homer ref and then unable to break down Mexico. Again, I felt the ref was generous to Brazil, although at least he didn't give the penalty near the end when the left back fell over with very little provocation.
Belgium look somewhat over-hyped, struggling to break down a tenacious but limited Algeria. Need more attacking threat in the wide areas and from the fullbacks and midfield.
Netherlands undoubtedly with the performance of the first round of matches, but being Dutch they could implode at any moment. Germany also very solid, although the Mueller incident does leave something of a sour taste. And being German, the risk of a squad implosion is minimal.
Difficult to place Italy and England - two quite well matched sides, but are they both pretty average or actually decent teams?

I picked Germany at the start and I am convinced after Spain, Brazil, and Argentina's weak performances in the early rounds that it is the German's tourney to lose. England? Are you guys serious?

My 606 team Iran are off the mark with a point.
Slow start, but watch out for these boys.
Will go quietly about their buisness to victory.
Greece 04 springs to mind

Re: Who's gonna win the WC?
Right, I've slept on it and think England will win.
Holland and Germany have peaked too soon, tut tut.
Brazil, Spain and Argentina will never peak.
England 3-1 Uruguay
England 2-0 Costa Rica
After Italy draw twice, England top the group:
England 1-0 Ivory Coast
England 4-1 Holland
England 1-0 Argentina
England 4-2 Germany

Brazil haven't looked good, even forgiving the fact they prefer teams coming at them. Argentina will cruise through the group so it's hard to judge them.
Germany, Italy, France and Holland the best sides on show so far.

Germany and Holland peaked too soon, we have been waiting 48 years for England to peak at this tournament.

Re: Who's gonna win the WC?
Germany beat a poor Portugal team that struggled to even qualify for the World Cup. If Ronaldo isn't 100% fit and with players missing, Portugal could be out of the tournament after the USA game.
It was a shame Mexico didn't beat Brazil last night. That capped with a Chile win today would have meant England's path to the semeis would have been the winners of Group C and then the winners of Mexico v Chile if England were to finish second in Group D behind Italy.

It would be huge for the sport if the USA won. Now I know everyone would like that to happen. There are no more graceful winners than the Americans.

Re: Who's gonna win the WC?
Sterling the best young player on display so far, a defence that will tighten up and dominated a match vs. the Euro 2012 finalists is the reason I have picked England

Take your pick.
Argentina?
Germany
Holland?
They'd be the three most likely.

Re: Who's gonna win the WC?
Chile looked good but they haven't been tested defensively. Spain have been dire & Costa/Torres were hardly a threat. Australia showed how to take on Chile, get it wide & bang crosses in. Medel/Jara is not a WC winning defensive partnership, just as De Jong/De Guzman isn't a WC winning central midfield. Argentina looked one dimensional vs Bosnia & their central midfield particularly poor.
I'm still going for Germany, this could be there year. France may also cause a surprise, along with Colombia.

Re: Who's gonna win the WC?
I haven't seen a team that will beat Germany, except maybe Italy. Holland went out and Allardyced Spain. Brazil should improve when they play better sides as they are much more set up to strike out against teams that push on. Argentina will cruise through the group which should be a huge advantage. France too.

That's just all dutys multiple accounts.
I see this World Cup fading away.
Only the Germans look a good side and they've only played once.
