How good would a modern day Yugoslavia team be?
Someone showed me another forum which asked the same question. Yugoslavia of course, no longer exists but if it did, it would be allowed to have players from the following countries: Serbia / Croatia / Bosnia-Hercegovina / Slovenia / FYR Macedonia / Montenegro.
A 23 man squad would like something like this:
Goalkeepers
Samir Handanovic (Internazionale)
Asmir Begovic (Stoke City)
Jan Oblak (Benfica)
Defenders
Branislav Ivanovic (Chelsea FC)
Darijo Srna (Shaktar Donetsk)
Emir Spahic (Bayern Leverkuzen)
Nemanja Vidic (Internazionale)
Neven Subotic (Borussia Dortmund)
Matija Nastasic (Manchester City)
Aleksandar Kolarov (Manchester City)
Senad Lulic (Juventus)
Midfielders
Adem Ljajic (AS Roma)
Miralem Pjanic (AS Roma)
Luka Modric (Real Madrid)
Nemanja Matic (Chelsea FC)
Ivan Rakitic (Barcelona FC)
Mateo Kovacic (Internazionale)
Stevan Jovetic (Manchester City)
Kevin Kampl (RB Salzburg)
Forwards
Mario Mandzukic (Bayern Munich)
Edin Dzeko (Manchester City)
Mirko Vucinic (Juventus)
Lazar Markovic (Benfica)
Looking at that potential squad, you would probably say that they would be among the favourites to win the entire tournament or at least, very dangerous dark horses.

Same could be said in international basketball and tennis as well the former Yugoslavia man for man produced maybe the best athtletes in Europe. Czech republic has to be up there as well. The would certainly be one of the powers of Europe.

It would be a very good team and would probably make the QF/SF.

That'd be a very solid looking side, midfield four choice of Rakitic, Matic, Modric and Pjanic, ouch!!
I'd go a step further than CS and say SF at least.
