Khan wants Manny next
http://www.boxingnews24.com/2014/06/khan-i-want-pacquiao-next-then-mayweather-in-may-2014/
What are the chances of this happening? and if it does how do you see it going?
for the record I don't think there is a chance in hell of this happening as Khan is with Al Haymon as we all know

If he signs with Arim the fight happens, if he doesn't, it doesn't. As he won't sign it won't happen.

Khan has a contract with GBPs, unlike fighters like Thurman, Lara, Alexander etc, therefore Khan can fight PacMan.
PacMan KOs Khan inside 4 rounds.

He's signed with Al Haymon Gerry so the fight has absolutely no chance of happening.

I'm going on what Oscar said. Some of the fighters have contracts with GBPs and Haymon is a secondary adviser.Hammersmith harrier wrote:He's signed with Al Haymon Gerry so the fight has absolutely no chance of happening.
Guerrero is in the same boat as Khan. Both are GBP fighters. I think Khan's got two fights left on the original deal.

Guererro is also signed with Haymon like the majority of GBP fighters so that rules them out of fighting any Top Rank fighter as HBO won't negotiate with him.

I agree with what you're saying, but Oscar is adamant regarding some of 'his fighters'.Hammersmith harrier wrote:Guererro is also signed with Haymon like the majority of GBP fighters so that rules them out of fighting any Top Rank fighter as HBO won't negotiate with him.
Oscar might've been on the juice though when he was speaking...

Re: Khan wants Manny next
The list of fighters that Haymon advises reads like a who's who of GBP, I think he and Schaefer were very quick earlier in the year to tie up those they didn't already have on their books. Not entirely sure how it works as they are still ultimately signed to GBP but Haymon does all the negotiating from what I understand.

"Manny KOs Khan in 4 rounds"
Is this the same Manny who has went 5 years without getting a stoppage. The same manny who stopped KO'ing opponents since certain accusations where made about him. That left hand is fast and hard but for some strange reason the insane power it once contained has disappeared. Weiirdddddddd

Why doesn't Manny hire Ariza back? He hasn't looked the same since he left

One thing you can't say about Khan is that he lacks ambition....
Imagine the fact he goes for the big fights won't help him with his detractors on here but he's had a very good career and has much to be proud of..

I think he has a chance against Manny. If he uses his speed and range and doesn't get careless I think he is in with a shot. Manny has seemed to lost a bit of his famed power the last 3 or 4 years so can't see him pulling off a Garcia type knockout on Khan.
Anyway wont matter, Roach and Arum knows Khan could cause Manny problems, so will not let him near Khan anyway.

After Ariza kicked Pacquiao's disabled coach in the chest and then said disabled coach responded by insinuating Ariza was supplying Pacquiao with suspicious milkshakes throughout the most successful period of his career, I don't suppose that's a likely reunion.

Frampton, great little fighter. Looking forward to seeing Frampton vs Santa Cruz maybe next May.

It's not that I don't rate Khan. It's his attitude and his claims of entitlement to a Mayweather fight.
If he beats a live dog at welterweight. Then sure he would earned a Mayweather fight.
But he beat up a passed it Collazo, Collazo was only relevant as he KOd Ortiz.
Khan needs to face a Thurman, Broner, Alexander or Guerrero

Anyhoo....anyone think Khan is talking about fighting Manny as a sly dig at Floyd as if to say, "I have the stones to fight him, unlike you"
Or am I giving Khan far too much credit for engaging in psychological warfare?

Every fighter he has fought in that time has never been stopped, which might also explain it. Apart from Margerito who was stopped on his feet once against Mosley, and how the reff did not stop that fight with Manny I dont know.

I agree with what you say about his sense of entitlement, but surely if he takes a fight with Pacquiao and (an even bigger IF) he beats him surely he would have earned his shot against Mayweather? Personally I can see why Khan would want to fight Pacquiao - if he wins, he'll likely get the Mayweather fight, if he loses, he's lost to someone that most expected him to for a career high purse. Seems like a no lose situation to me.

Don't think it is anything so complicated Dave. Khan wants to fight the best as Floyd is currently unavailable and is also, based on the last time, a bit of a pain to deal with Manny is the next best thing. As Truss said earlier in the thread, you could not criticise Khan for his ambition.

Good on Khan, stop chasing Floyd after he messed you about and go for the other no.1 in the division.
Can't fault him and hope he gets the fight and beats Manny.

Re: Khan wants Manny next
It's all bulls**t isn't it.....
Maidana beats Broner a three weight world champion to become a World champion himself....Broner in most Top 12/15 lists..........Which of itself is enough to warrant a big payday and a shot at a big fighter..
Mayweather beats a Top 15 fighter and a World champion and is a coward for it...
Generally because people want to see him beat and think Maidana didn't have the tools for the job....
Maidana was more than deserving of the fight.........
Khan like Mayweather is marmite..............Whatever he does he'll be slagged off or loved...
Advice...Don't listen to the morons as they'll never be pleased.....
He beats Manny..........Manny was a shell.......
It's Khan's lot I'm afraid .......
I missed the age where you looked at the Top 10 and said I'll pick number 7 because he's got the most chance of beating me.........Looking at Holmes and Hagler's records certainly didn't happen in theirs..
Maybe Rowley and others can enlighten me..

Re: Khan wants Manny next
I'm not saying that Maidana wasn't deserving of a Floyd fight but even you can't say Floyd came out of the negotiations looking anything other than a spoilt brat and a chump.
There was the ridiculous twitter poll (which Khan won if I remember right), the length of time it took for it all to get done and Floyd stating that whoever won said twitter poll would be who the fans wanted and who he'd fight (I'm sure at one point he stated Manny would be on it but the old memory's not what it once was.)
Hopefully Khan forgets about Floyd and goes after Manny and even if he loses, there's no disgrace in it (same if he'd fought Floyd and lost).
To be honest he can't lose, cause even if he gets splatted in 10 secs it'll be Manny's fault as he only wanted an 'easy' fight.
Just hope that if it starts to look like happening Manny shows a bit more respect than Mayweather.

Maidana was and is nowhere near a top 15, he's only ranked 7th at Welterweight for Christ sake Truss and big deal that Broner beat three weak champions for three fairly pointless world titles.

Is a deserving opponent.........

I'm not sure if your addressing me or HH Truss,
But I thought Maidana was a worthy opponent and after reading the reports, sounded like he give as good as he could so props for him.
I didn't like the way Mayweather treated Khan in the run up to it and wouldn't expect any boxer regardless of position or talent to treat another one like that.

You don't beat the best for your titles and they are meaningless, Broner has never beaten anybody worthy of the reputation you give him.
