Re: Groves v Christopher Rebrasse
Knowing Sauerland it will probably be Mehdi Bouadla or even possibly Stieglitz, won't be Abraham who's fighting Smith and Kessler is a bit too high risk for a comeback fight.

Is Abraham not committed to the Smith fight? Genuinely have no idea who it will be, would be surprised if Kessler would come back for anything other than a title shot though.

I hope it's not a completely easy fight but nothing too rough as another loss could really set him back, especially against someone not named Froch

Ideal scenario for me is Kessler/O2/anytime after my next student loan comes in. Although Sauerland promotions have shown blatant disregard for my financial situation and haven't even consulted me, bar stewards!

Surely George can't be that stupid again it just comes across like the mouthy kid that gets beaten up alot but just keeps coming back anyway. Guessing if that's true he is hoping Froch's luck will run out somewhere since had a early stoppage & by the far the best punch his ever thrown.

Re: Groves v Christopher Rebrasse
Only way Groves beats Froch is if Forch ages over night... He has landed his best punch in round 1 while Froch clearly took him lightly, and he dd not win that fight. That is the issue, people talk about if Froch won the first fight, But did Groves?, with it being a 12 round fight?, did Groves win?, certainly not, he just won 6 rounds he looked Knackered and hurt in rnd 9 against a guy who thrives there.
In The Second fight, Froch clearly done more home work and while Groves still boxed well, but he was still getting tired and his shots not backing Froch up...
To be fair, not everyone has the chin and stamina Froch has so Groves could well do allot more damage to other fighters out there... But Froch 3 will do him no good whats so ever.

Froch Groves 3 isn't happening, come on.
They sold out the biggest stadium in the country to settle the score after everyone was robbed a conclusive ending from the first fight.
Score is settled, nowhere to go. Froch and Groves have gone their separate ways now

I think it will be Stieglitz at the O2, 20th or 27th September.

I read a couple of days ago it will just be a warm up fight and he would then be looking for the winner of Dirrel v Bika.

Kalle Sauerland tweeted "this will NOT be a tune up". Dunno about Dirrel v Bika, I'd have thought the winner of AA v Smith would be more likely.

LHW? That would be a bit of a surprise I'd say. He's hardly a big SMW, 5'11" and came in at 166lb for his last fight. I know he's naturally stocky but I think LHW would be a fair step for him physically, plus there are opportunities for him at 168lb with AA/Smith, Dirrel/Bika and the distinct possibility of a 2nd DeGale fight.

Re: Groves v Christopher Rebrasse
So much for a test; expected nothing else to be honest given the manner of defeat last time out. September bout at Wembley Arena and it's a final eliminator for a shot at the WBC title. All but confirmed now.
Re: Groves v Christopher Rebrasse
I predicted Kessler for Groves a few weeks ago and I still think that, if Sauerland are determined to put GG in a competitive, winnable fight with a name fighter, then it is the most obvious choice.
Kessler has a decent profile in the UK due to the Froch fights and both fighters share a promoter. Both Kessler and GG would have a huge amount to gain from a victory and it would likely be an entertaining affair.
Hugely risky for GG if this is the match-up, but, as stated, if Sauerland / GG aren't planning on a tune-up, then it seems to me the most logical fight to make.

It's not Kessler! It's Rembrasse! More or less confirmed by insiders this morning and now doing the rounds on twitter.

Well, I was way off. Not exactly a 'tune-up' but certainly a fight GG should win comfortably if he has serious ambitions of being a world champion in the near future..

Re: Groves v Christopher Rebrasse
Can someone with better knowledge than me give a bit of a rundown on Rembrasse.
Is it a waste of time opponent likely to be out of there within a round or 2?
Is it just a workout bout to get rounds under his belt and (hopefully) showcase a rejuvinated George?
Is it a half decent test or a tough test?
Haven't heard of the geezer myself so no idea.

No one of note on his record. 2 losses and 3 draws with only 6 wins by knockout. Very much a safe fight for Groves...
However clever matchmaking from Saureland as Rebrasse is ranked at 3 with WBC so a win here puts GG in line to fight the winner of Chavez vs Bika if that happens or Bika should Chavez go a different route

Re: Groves v Christopher Rebrasse
Its a sensible fight for him, but have no idea why Sauerland hyped it as some kind of big fight though, I thought it was going to be Kessler or something the way he put it. Wembley Arena?, headline? ...

Re: Groves v Christopher Rebrasse
Sensible fight for Groves. He's clearly above domestic level and there's not point going back to pointless eight rounders. He more than held his own with Froch and was eventually caught with a great shot after taking nothing of great significance. He wasn't beaten up or widely outclassed like Bute and others so it's sad (yet unsurprising) that people/posters are now happy to write him off as rubbish. Always difficult to sell a fighter on the back of a KO loss but perhaps Sauerland are hoping that some people actually bother to use something approaching intelligence before making judgments.

I've heard Groves has gone to big bear to spar Golovkin this week. I'd much rather watch that than this fight.

Quite risky going to go spar GGG three months before a fight. His liver may not recover in time from the patented body shot.

Well I wouldn't say he is better than De Gale Dave who according to some is Domestic level. That would be a great fight and one in which Groves has said he is capable of winning.
I have knowledge of the fight sport, but who the hell is this guy he is fighting.
I'd hazard a guess that Smith is a better or higher level and he for sparked in 2 by Groves.
At least have some competitive fight for god sake.
Make him work a bit. Feel some pressure.

I think its now a contractual obligation that anyone who spars with golovkin has their liver surgically removed prior to the spar to insure GGG against any future law suits. The sparring partners can choose to simply replace them afterwards or sell them on the black market as they see fit.
