We Were So Close To Such A Glorious Thing!
Harry Redknapp has revealed how close he came to leaving QPR and retiring from football management last season.
The 67-year-old took over at Loftus Road in 2012 but could not prevent the west London club sliding to Premier League relegation.
Although they were installed as favourites to seal an immediate return, poor form around Christmas saw Redknapp's side having to negotiate the play-offs to gain promotion.
And it was during the play-off final win over Derby when Redknapp started to face the prospect of walking away - only for Bobby Zamora to score a last-gasp winner.
"If we hadn't gone up this year I would have turned it in," he conceded.
"I would have definitely packed up. I wouldn't have gone back and done another year in the Championship, it didn't appeal to me any more.
"If we had got beat I would have turned it in, definitely.
"With 10 minutes to go I was thinking 'what golf club should I join this year - should I play here or there?' and then suddenly Bobby ruined it all."

On behalf of everyone at the BBC, I'd just like to say that: 'Arry, you're the greatest manager who ever lived, and the best thing since sliced bread.

No seriously, Arry's a legend. The time he stuffed thirty grands worth of notes down his trouser leg before an away game with Millwall is the stuff of legend.

I share your loathing of 'Arry, a guy only ever in it for himself and just because he's in with Sky he's lauded as a messiah of English football.

I think it is more to do with his family ties as well. Son is jamie redknapp and his nephew is frank lampard.

Harry Redknapp's son is Jamie Redknapp?
Well you learn something every day. Next you'll be telling me Louise Redknapp is married to one of them and blow my mind.

Never understood how they're father and son.
Jamie is gorgeous, and 'Arry is...'Arry.

Rosie is probably legally Jamie's dad.
There's a lot of reasons to hate Harry that are not just to do with his demeanour and how he taps up his targets in public. Lying, thieving, backstabbing worm
