The 3 to go down
First topic message reminder :
Starting this early.
Sadly as a Villa fan the bottom half holds more interest for me than the top half.
So with just over 3 weeks till the prem kicks off, my 3 to drop are.
Swansea
WBA
Burnley.
Swansea - Just think they will go, no real reason
WBA - Not to exciting in terms of manager, poor squad(ok rich coming from a Villa fan I know).
Burnley - Dont think they will have enough to survive.

Re: The 3 to go down
These are two subjects I see discussed in front of me everyday. I am pretty clued up on all the arguments.
But Sam isn't the be all and end all of manager's. His squad treatment and transfers are certainly a worry, his defensive nature also. But I'd take a new manager with a slightly more modern, yet similar approach cos I'd take Moyes.

well he's coming out with stuff like we shouldnt have signed andy carroll, west ham players are fat lazy and uselss (which of course he denied) few more im sure i forgot. he's gotten on the players and teams back publicly which doesn't help anybody. how many owners you know who do similar? then of course we have the recent twitter favorite.

Hes never said our players were fat lazy and useless.
The twitter favourite is a storm in a teacup that the club are laughing at. Elderly man pressed a button.
Basically one comment on the radio. I think he's been reasonable with Carroll, funnily enough, its a fair comment. Its not worked for us. Its not awful, thats all I'm saying. And it ignores the very positive amount of communication we get from our owners. Always gonna be a down side, but the man would have been sacked at Christmas by 90% so he cant complain. He's been given a chance to do a job in the way we want it done, rather than sacked for someone else.

quite possible as our "losing" in my time will still be a a lot better than most, with last season being the exception
but while it may be deferring levels i would still rather take the 12-13 season over all of the others we didnt win the league even if we did play some dire stuff compared to other united sides

Sorry to sound very dismissive, I was part way doing something else. But it is very hard to get in the mindset of any other fan when you've been a Manchester United fan. I can kind of get on a level with some City fans because they were the West Ham of Manchester in many ways. And then all this happened. But most United fans have lived on success, even the pre-Fergie fans lived off of promises that United were a big club and would return to the top. I've seen West Ham lose an FA Cup final, lose a playoff final and win two playoff finals. The FA Cup loss is perversely my favourite.

Re: The 3 to go down
Belatedly caught up with this thread. Promoted teams nearly always struggle at Premier level and the latest crop don't look any different. I actually reckon they could make a clean sweep and so I'll go for QPR, Burnley and Leicester. Without significant signings, I don't see any of them getting enough goals.

Burnley, QPR, and Palace for me.

QPR are the worst team in the league, Burnley have moments but no consistency and just look naive. Leicester I think will hit ups and downs, some of the Cardiff problem where they look good against top sides then struggle in the bread and butter, but I think they have enough to survive this year.

Far too soon to be counting chickens or turkeys but a good day yesterday as regards my predicted bottom three - QPR, Burnley and Leicester. All lost. With the possible exception of Austin for QPR, I struggle to see who is going to bag enough goals to keep those teams up.

Re: The 3 to go down
The promoted three teams continue to occupy the relegation places but all still have life and hope. QPR and Burnley recently picking up points as Austin and Ings find the onion bag. Nothing much going Leicester's way though in the last month and they now prop up the table.
The team to watch out for - as far as this thread goes - has to be Hull. They're on a terrible run and are only outside the bottom three on goal difference. Probably no great surprise that Sunderland, Palace, West Brom and Villa (sorry Westy) are also actively in the mix.
For those of us who enjoy the muck and bullets surrounding Premier League survival, this could be a very tense and exciting season ....

West Brom and Hull I definitely expect to be pulled in, and sadly it looks like another season of meandering around the trapdoor for Villa

Swansea and West Bromwich to teeter and wobble but, ultimately, survive.
Looking fairly decent for the pre-season prediction; might have underestimated Swansea, though!

Yep another fun season for us.
Still think we will survive, but again will be tight.
Need to turn these draws into wins. But better than losses.
I said Swansea would be one of the teams to go, but they are looking decent.
Will replace them with Hull.

Are you having a laugh?
When manager of the year is discussed it's always the little teams punching above their weight, who's managers get the praise. Why can't the manager of the year, just be the manager who's done the best job, saw weaknesses & addressed them over the summer & their team is now unbeaten still. Answer - Mourinho.
If you were looking for a candidate outside of Jose, I'd go with Allardyce, then Pardew, given his situation early on in the season. Monk's done a decent job but nothing spectacular.

Don't know, it's pointless. Nick mentioned Monk for the MOTY, I just stated that Jose is the lead candidate.

This year's Norwich could be WBA: Just as Alan Bennett's favourite team had a formidable string of fixtures in the final month of the season, so does WBA this year: Arsenal, Newcastle & Man Utd on the road, Chelsea & Liverpool at home.

jose has by far and away the best team, he's exactly where any good manager should be with that team. monks done well so far but think koeman has done the best job so far, lose lots of players and brought in better for cheaper. expect them to drop off but him and big sam have done the best for me so far seeing though many were predicting both these teams to struggle this season

3 members of that team are what jose brought in (cesc, costa, willian), i hardly think thats building the squad. he inherited a great squad already and has just fined tuned it with costa and cesc. hardly rocket science with those two

Another good night for my predictions. QPR lost on the road whilst Leicester went down at home. Burnley did the best with a home point - sufficient at least for them to scrape above Hull.
The other usual suspects well within the mix and likely to remain there for the next few months ....

Very good point for Hull last night at Goodison. Takes them out of the drop zone and leaves my predictions of Burnley, QPR and Leicester all in the bottom three. Can I cash in now, Victor?

3 x bottom of the table 6-pointers this weekend.
Crucial few weeks for West Brom and I don't see how they can survive unless they start winning at places like Hull.
Least pressure on Burnley and wouldn't be surprised to see that reflected in their upcoming results.

Re: The 3 to go down
This is so tight now. Still no side cast adrift and just 5 points separating the bottom nine. Every team capable of picking up points now and then but inevitably proving much harder to string a few decent results together.
A great win yesterday for Palace against Spurs although perhaps even more satisfaction for Burnley, West Brom and Leicester who all came out on top in dog v dog encounters against respectively QPR,Hull and Villa.
A potentially significant comment on last night's MOTD from Shearer (someone must have primed him before the programme ) - all QPR's points have come from home matches and they only have one game left at home against a side in the bottom half of the table.

WBA have similar end of season minefield of fixtures to Norwich last year. If Pulis doesn't get results/points now, he's going to be struggling.
QPR, WBA plus one other for me, probably Hull or Leicester.

Re: The 3 to go down
QPR are down. We have played all the 'easy' teams at home and won't be winning any games away. Harry Redknapp is clueless. He can't coach, he can't motivate. The players he signed are average. Any half-witted coach could see Richard Dunne was too slow for the Championship. Why we every got Rio Ferdinand, I don't know? The board seem far too reluctant to change the manager and I don't know why? There has been little change from when Mark Hughes was in charge. Redknapp has done nothing in two years. Charlie Austin has been the only positive. Without Austin we would probably be mid-table in the Championship.

It would be nice for Pulis to take a team down and everyone stop this "they've got Pulis so they're safe" stuff. I dont particularly "want" any team except QPR to go down. Actually, Sunderland would be great to get rid of

I'm thinking:
Burnley
QPR
Leicester
Whilst Burnley and Leicester have picked up points recently, I think the lack of Premier League experience in both their squads will cost them towards the end, I think QPR are goners already, Redknapp doesn't know what he's doing.

Still think Burnley QPR, then one from Villa.
Leicester Baggies, Hull, Sunderland.
If we don't find the net soon it could well be us.
The third team im going for is Hull though.

Dyche has to be managing a premiership club next season regardless of Burnley's outcome.
Leciester and QPR will drop. Then maybe Hull Tbf.

Have we given you another reason to (irrationally) hate us?
I've seen Hull home and away this year, and they are comfortably the worst side we've faced. I think QPR might go, they just don't look like they'll win away from home and their home form can't stay like it currently is for the rest of the season.
Third side to drop is between Burnley and Sunderland for me, although Albion, Villa and Leicester will also be down there. If Burnley keep hold of Ings this window, then I think Sunderland will be the third team to go down.
Re: The 3 to go down
Haha that one isn't about you specifically, just this annoying tag of Pulis being unrelegateable.

We may just be showing signs of recovery. And if the Kramaric deal goes through we may get exactly what we have been missing. One good at at is we haven't lost by more than 2 goals yet. The only one who I think is down at the moment is QPR.

Sounds dire but by the sounds of that could it not be said that all their away games (don't know and, more importantly for this possible assertion, don't care to check) have been at teams in the top half of the table making it more difficult for them to pick up points on the road?
Could this just be a case of lies, damn lies, and statistics? Maybe, or it could just be that QPR really are doomed as they're crap....

Re: The 3 to go down
A good day yesterday for my prediction of the 3 to go down - Leicester, QPR and Burnley all lost at home and now occupy 3 of the bottom 4 spots. They'll all be in the bottom 3 late afternoon if Hull can get a point at West Ham and edge above Burnley.
Best and worst result yesterday - at least as far as this thread is concerned - has to be Palace's win at Turf Moor. The Eagles have now flown to the giddy heights of 12th. Whilst some hail Dyche as the new Messiah, he's more like a naughty careless boy having seen his Clarets throw away a 2-0 lead for the second time in four days.
Still incredibly tight though in the bottom half of the table and no team able to properly break away. Losses as well yesterday for Villa and Sunderland. Newcastle also bombed at home - could we see them make a late entry onto this thread?
