Henson back at Ospreys? how would you feel?
I dont care what anyone says i'd be made up to see him back at the Ospreys.
Henson & Bishop with bowe on the wing would be strong and skillfull with 2 big tacklers or even henson with bowe as outside centre sounds pretty good too, but prefer Bowe on the wing.
Whats your thoughts, and let try to talk sense not just Henson bash aye lads oh and lasses

You haven't got the coaches to handle him now.

Re: Henson back at Ospreys? how would you feel?
I have followed Henson's career since he was a kid and there is no doubt in my mind that he is the most talented centre in Northern Hemisphere Rugby (excepting , of course, BOD).
Unfortunately Henson needs an authoritarian manager. Someone to not only lay down the rules ON the pitch but to lay down the rules off the pitch too. The lad seems determined to push the self-destruct button at every opportunity.
I do think that the welsh coaching set up of Gatland to mother him and Sean Edwards to scare the Poopie out of him could be a good thing. Unfortunately Ospreys are lumbered with a Director of Rugby who is more interested in furthering his own ambitions than the club's and a head coach who couldn't find his own arris if he used both hands and a map.
I would gladly take Henson back into the fold if it meant we could get rid of the buffoons. It also helps that Hook, Byrne, Phillips are not there next year - henson would be playing with a "new" set of team mates.

Cari - can perfecty understand your reaction!
However Henson may actually offer good value in the market at the moment.
We really need something for our midfield and I think we may have left it too late to find a quality, good value signing.
If he's going cheap he may be worth a punt. If it doesn't work out we can always ship him off.
So maybe a one year contract?

loki
yeah that exactly how i see it.
we need a spark in the backs/centre and a couple of players that know how to straighten the line when in possession bishop is 1 and henson would be 2.
You also make a excellent point about money and time running out on the signing front with the RWC coming up soon, and the guy would be cheap as chips.
ML also makes a valid point to in the coaches we have at the liberty at the moment, which unfortunately don't look like changing any time soon. Lyn Jones was the only guy that ever managed him correctly but that aint ever going to happen,,,,,,shame

Because Lyn Jones is out of the frame, that doesn't mean you have to accept tweedle dee, tweedle dum, tweedle dim and tweedle dump.

I don't think Henson will go anwhere near the Ospreys while Johnson is there, too much history between them.

Personally i think he'd be a top draw signing for Wasps. Playing under Edwards should keep him under control.
Cips when he was at Wasps was superbly managed just happened to date Kelly Brook which threw him into the limelight. Wasps could really get the best of him and he would bring Wally on outside him.

SJ was very pally to the players in 2005. They loved his enthusiasm and pre game pep talks so I wouldn't be suprised if he came back to the O's. I'd be split 50 50 if he did return...

Ospreys are getting rid of their "stars", their Galacticos and bringing in Henson would just be a dreadful move.
Re: Henson back at Ospreys? how would you feel?
I don't think he'd go back to the Liberty. He'd see it as a backward step and there's a certain shame in going back to a former club / region when you left it in order to further your career. If you're coming to the end of your career and it's a swansong, it's different.
P.S. Surely swans honk, not sing?

it would be a shame for Becks but could also improve him no end with the compo for the 12 shirt, and they are both welsh Q so good for wales too,
Plus whatever people say about henson he has skills to pass on

Re: Henson back at Ospreys? how would you feel?
I've already said this on the 606 site,
I would love to have him back at the O's but I'm not sure that he would be made welcome by all of us who regularly go to games. I think he would certainly make our back line more dynamic and strengthen our defence, plus he does cover 10 and 15 as well as 12 so gives us some versitility to. I do agree that we need someone who can manage him properly, Lyn Jones always used to make me laugh when he talked about Gav, he would come across as a strict father figure!!! Might be interesting if they can bring him in on a basic salary and the give bonus awards for results and effort etc??

Re: Henson back at Ospreys? how would you feel?
I thought he was off to the Scarlets!
I wouldn't touch him with your bargepole let alone mine!
This is the guy who told porkies to get the Ospreys to release him, FAILED at Sarries and agin at Toulon.
Essentially a very skillful player, with dare i say it, more talent than Shane but totally lacking in team ethos and work ethic.
If he came to the liberty it would re-present all the old divisions that they have tried to rid the squad of, a backward step of some distance.
Look to the future, looking backwards just gives you a bad neck.

Not a fan then Ospreylian???
I think if he can come back, keep his head down and concentrate on his rugby it would be a real benefit to us. Also it would repay the latitude afforded to him by the management team 2 years ago?? I think there should be strict clauses in his contract that allow us to terminate his employment if he doesn't perform or if he does start his prima donna stuff

May be not luckless, but it would also indicate his commitment to the region second time round??
He has obviously signed two contracts recently with 'get out' clauses in so you never know??

That is why SJ is such a basket case as a coach. His "matey" approach as director of coaching is one of the reasons that his players have no respect for Ho-Hum and why the club is such a shambles, with star players leaving in droves, talented youngsters wanting away from the club.
Well done Scott - you have repeated your Wales Miracle at the Ospreys.
Unfortunately we will be stuck with him and Ho-Hum for the time being, despite the pathetic performances and the turmoil off the pitch.

Re: Henson back at Ospreys? how would you feel?
When I mentioned the history between SJ and GH I was referring to the fuss about GH's book which some players took exception to. Some of them wanted him off the team and he was forced to apologise to the players for his comments in his book. Story goes that Ruddock wanted to play him and SJ sided with the players, resulting in Ruddock resigning. Remember after Ruddock resigned Wellies goes down with a mysterious injury just before the match against Ireland and SJ put Henson in at 10 where he hadn't played for ages, knowing that they were going to be slaughtered that day. This it is alleged was retribution for Henson on behalf of the players. I remember Henson said he felt suicidal after the game. This is just a theory of course....... also it's strange that as soon as SJ joined Ospreys, GH left.

Reading between the lines that seems to me to say that Henson's seat on the flight to the antipodes is already booked barring injury.
The question is now is whether he wants to make good on his unfulfilled talent and make a go of his international career. If he does - where will he be in terms of club? Wales or England? I cant see Gatland wanting him too far away.

I'd be happy to see him at PYS. I know most Scarlets fans wouldn't be but he'd be a brilliant replacement for King and would bring the best out of JD2. I also think our style of rugby would suit him.

Re: Henson back at Ospreys? how would you feel?
why would we want him when we've got the likes of Scott Williams, Nic Reynolds and Gareth Maule to cover there? And that's without Lamont and North being able to play there too.
You are right he would suit our style of play, him and Jon Davies would work well together but he's the sort of guy that rips teams apart. I wouldn't want anything like that at the Scarlets, now when we're building such a good unit down there.

The Dragons reportedly released a lot of players to help free up funds to sign Henson.
The Scarlets are interested in him as a replacement to Regan King who recently left.
Cardiff want him to play fly half as Dan Parks is playing poorly.
Cuddy has stated he would like Gavin to come back.

NO NO NO No to Henson reurning to the Ospreys
Since his suspension against Leicester I think in 2005 I'd love to know how many games he's actually played for us?
How many games since then as he turned a defeat into a victory for us like he did during the 2004 season?
Too expensive too disruptive and I think would undermine what the Opsreys are trying to put into place for the future.

Re: Henson back at Ospreys? how would you feel?
An awful lot of the pro Henson back at the Ospreys arguments seem to have a lot of "if's" in their content. They would be the same "if's" plastered accross 606 prior to his return to the Ospreys from his so called Sebatical, prior to his arrival at Sarries and prior to his arrival at Toulon! All of which he failed to do! Keep his head down??? This is Henson you are talking about!!! The same man who left the Ospreys to be closer to his kids!!!! Give me a break!!
Im not knocking him as a rugby player! At times he showed elements of class both physically and tecnically but was never consistant and therefore for me not one of the greats, not even close. I really cannot see the attraction of this player! He went to Toulon, which is full of superstars who behave themselves as they realise it is the game of rugby, commitment and hard work that has put them in that position! And yet again he was the one they chose to not offer a contract too!!
And im not knocking his character either as to knock something, it has to exist first!!!!!
Good idea Thomond! A night out in Limerick or Cork with his shaven permatan legs would sort him right out once and for all!!!
When will people realise its not the game he loves, its the limelight!! Therefore I suggest Butlins sign him up! Centre of attention for 7 nights a week in Minehead! Possibly even line him up for the matinee's too!!! Perfect!

Surley Henson needs to commit to Rugby or get the HELL out of the game all together.
At this moment unless i am mistaken he is with out a club/region to play for....It was only last night he was advertising something to do with Bingo.
So is he now keeping his options open, just incase he cannot find a club/region to play for, and be an advertising guru from now on.

Those people who keep mentioning this Bingo advert must surely realise that its not live. The amazing thing about technology is that it allows us to seem as though we're in two places at once. perhaps in Yorkshire they have people in little boxes and call it television but in Wales they have slightly more advanced technology and can actually pre record things and play them over and over. In conclusion appearing in an advert does not imply a lack of commitment to rugby.
